Yahya related to me from Malik from Rabia ibn Abi Abd ar-Rahman that Abu Said alKhudri returned from a journey and his family gave him some meat. He asked whether it was meat from the sacrifice. They replied that it was. Abu Said said, "Didn't the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbid that?" They said, "There has been a new command from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ since you went away." Abu Said went out and made enquiries about it and was told that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had said,"I forbade you before to eat meat of the sacrifice after three days, but now eat, give sadaqa and store up. I forbade you before to make nabidh (by soaking raisins or dates in water), but now make nabidh, but remember every intoxicant is haram .I forbade you to visit graves, but now visit them, and do not use bad language."

[Machine] About the white jar, the green jar, and the red jar? He said, "Indeed, the first ones to ask the Prophet ﷺ were the delegation of Abdul-Qays. They said, 'We have a share of the crop, so which irrigation method should we use?' He said, 'Do not water in stagnant water, mud containers, Nor in the "Nadir" (holes filled with seawater), nor in "Hantam" (a pond with brackish water), but irrigate using irrigation vessels.' Then he said, 'Indeed, Allah has prohibited me from alcohol, gambling, "coobah" (a wine container), and all intoxicants are forbidden.'

Allah's Apostle ﷺ sent me and Mu'adh b. Jabal to Yemen. I said: Messenger of Allah, there is prepared in our land a wine out of barley which is known as Mizr (beer of our times) and a wine from honey which is known as Bit, (are these also forbidden? ), whereupon he said: Every intoxicant is forbidden. (Using translation from Muslim 1733e)

that when Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent him and Muʿadh bin Jabal to Yemen, he said to them, "Facilitate things for the people (treat the people in the most agreeable way), and do not make things difficult for them, and give them glad tidings, and let them not have aversion (i.e. to make the people hate good deeds) and you should both work in cooperation and mutual understanding, obey each other." Abu Musa said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! We are in a land in which a drink named Al Bit' is prepared from honey, and another drink named Al-Mizr is prepared from barley." On that, Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "All intoxicants (i.e. all alcoholic drinks) are prohibited." (Using translation from Bukhārī 6124)

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I used to prohibit you from visiting graves, eating the meat of sacrificial animals after three days, and drinking from vessels made of clay. But now visit graves, for they remind you of the Hereafter and make you abstain from worldly desires. Eat the meat of sacrificial animals and keep what you wish, for I only advised against it because it was difficult for people. Indeed, every intoxicant is prohibited."

[Machine] We were informed by Al-Muthanna Al-Abdi, the father of Munazil, one of Bani Ghanm, from Al-Ashajj Al-Asari that he came with a group from Abd Al-Qays to visit the Prophet ﷺ . They arrived and the Prophet ﷺ welcomed them and allowed them to stay with him. When they arrived, the Prophet ﷺ raised his voice for them, so they dismounted. The people rushed and only wore their travel clothes. Al-Asari then led the prayer and straightened the rows for his companions and his camel. He then took off his clothes from his cloak and that was seen by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . Then he approached the Prophet ﷺ and greeted him. The Prophet ﷺ said to him, "Indeed, you possess two qualities that Allah and His Messenger love." Al-Asari asked, "What are they?" The Prophet ﷺ said, "Humility and patience." Al-Asari asked, "Is that something I was created with, or something I can learn?" The Prophet ﷺ replied, "No, rather it is something you were created with." Al-Asari said, "All praise is due to Allah." Then the Prophet ﷺ said, "O people of Abd Al-Qays, why do I see that your faces have changed?" They said, "O Prophet of Allah, we are in a land of famine, where we used to take from these leaves what would cut into our stomachs. But when we were prohibited from eating them, this is what you see in our faces." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Indeed, leaves are neither halal (permissible) nor haram (forbidden), but every intoxicant is haram. And it is not that you should withhold from drinking until your veins are filled, then you get into a dispute and one man strikes his cousin with a sword, leaving him crippled." He added, "And on that day, he (Al-Asari) was the crippled one among the people who experienced this."

[Machine] That Mus'ab ibn Wa'il came to the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , in Madinah with an offering of agate stone, and he embraced Islam and his Islam was good. Mus'ab said, "O Messenger of Allah, I would like someone to be sent to my people to call them to Islam, and I would like a letter to be written to my people, perhaps Allah will guide them through it." He said to Mu'awiya, "Write for him: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. To the Afanad tribes from Hadramawt, perform the prayer, pay the zakah, and give charity generously. In the fifth part from the war gains and one-tenth from the cattle. No mixing, no mixture, no drinking, no hanging, no touching, no connecting two camels with one rope. Whoever does this has committed a grave evil. All intoxicants are forbidden." "Ziyad ibn Labid al-Ansari was sent to them." "Mixture refers to not gathering the cattle together. As for mixture, it is not standing up straight with the rope. As for hanging, it is to connect a man's daughter to another man's daughter without a dowry. And connecting is to put her in a state of nikah without a dowry. And hanging by the neck is to execute a person in his own land. And the response is that the fruit should be sold before the worms infest it."

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Every intoxicant is wine, and every intoxicant is forbidden."
[Machine] Indeed, the first person to ask the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about wine was Abd al-Qays. He came to him and said, "O Messenger of Allah, we live in a rural area and we have a portion of dates, so he ordered us to make a drink from it." He then said, "Sprinkle it in the pots but not in the big jar, the ceramic jar, the water cooler, or the spotted jar, for I have forbidden intoxicants, gambling, the Kuba drum, and every intoxicating thing is forbidden." They said, "O Messenger of Allah, what if it gets stronger?" He said, "Then pour water on it." They said, "O Messenger of Allah, what if it gets even stronger?" He said, "Then pour water on it." In the third or fourth round, he said, "Then throw it away."
