An onager was presented to Messenger of Allah ﷺ at the place called Al-Abwa' or Waddan, but Allah's Apostle rejected it. When the Prophet ﷺ noticed the signs of sorrow on the giver's face he said, "We have not rejected your gift, but we are in the state of Ihram." [Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by me while I was in Al-Abwa or Waddan, so I presented to him the meat of a wild donkey. He returned it to me when he saw dislike in my face, saying, "It is not permissible for us, but it is for them." The Prophet ﷺ was asked about staying overnight in a polytheist's house where their women and children are present, and he said, "They are from them." I also heard him say, "There is no protection except for Allah and His Messenger."
