‘The one in Ihram may kill the snake, the scorpion, the aggressive predator, the vicious dog and the harmful mouse.” It was said to him: “Why is it said that they are harmful?” He said:* “Because the Messenger of Allah ﷺ woke up because of one, and it had taken the wick (of the lamp) to burn down the house.”

[Machine] "Abdullah reported that I heard him, Uthman, saying: Jarir narrated to us, from Yazid bin Abi Ziyad, from Abdur Rahman bin Abi Nu'man, from Abu Sa'id, who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The one who kills the forbidden animals is the mongoose, scorpion, hoopoe, and the dog with cut ears." I asked, "What is the mongoose?" He replied, "It is a rat." I asked, "And what is the issue with a rat?" He said, "Indeed, the Prophet ﷺ woke up while a burning ember took hold of a wick, which climbed up to the ceiling to burn it."
