[Machine] Aisha, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ , said that Umm Habiba bint Jahsh was menstruating for seven years while being under the care of Abdul Rahman ibn Auf. She complained about this to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , who said to her, "This is not menstruation, it is only irregular bleeding. When the actual menstruation comes, leave the prayer, and when it ends, then perform ablution and pray." Aisha said that Umm Habiba used to sit in a corner with her sister Zainab bint Jahsh, and the blood would reach the water level. The mention of purification in this hadith is authentic, and the narration about when menstruation begins and ends was specifically reported by Al-Awza'i from trustworthy narrators of the companions of Az-Zuhri. The correct view is that Umm Habiba was experiencing prolonged irregular bleeding, and the mention of this statement was reported by Hisham ibn Urwah from his father, from Aisha, regarding the story of Fatima bint Abi Hubaysh.
