[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed with us and recited, and the recitation became difficult for him. When he finished, he said, "Do you recite?" We said, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah." He said, "Do not recite except with the Opening of the Book (Surah Al-Fatiha), for there is no prayer without it."  

أحمد:٢٢٦٧١ – حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ مَكْحُولٍ عَنْ مَحْمُودِ بْنِ الرَّبِيعِ عَنْ عُبَادَةَ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ قَالَ

We were behind the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at the dawn prayer, and he recited (the passage), but the recitation became difficult for him. Then when he finished, he said: Perhaps you recite behind your imam? We replied: Yes, it is so, Messenger of Allah. He said: Do not do so except when it is Fatihat al-Kitab, for he who does not recite it is not credited with having prayed.

صَلَّى بِنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ صَلَاةَ الصُّبْحِ فَثَقُلَتْ عَلَيْهِ الْقِرَاءَةُ فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ قَالَ «إِنِّي لَأَرَاكُمْ تَقْرَءُونَ وَرَاءَ إِمَامِكُمْ» قَالَ قُلْنَا أَجَلْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ هَذَا قَالَ «فَلَا تَفْعَلُوا إِلَّا بِأُمِّ الْكِتَابِ فَإِنَّهُ لَا صَلَاةَ لِمَنْ لَمْ يَقْرَأْ بِهَا»

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed Fajr with us, and the recitation became difficult for him. After finishing the prayer, he asked, "Did you recite behind me?" We replied, "Yes." He said, "Do not do so, except with the mother of the Book (meaning Al-Fatiha) because there is no prayer for the one who does not recite it."

"عَنْ عبادة بن الصَّامت قال: صَلَّى بنا رَسُول الله ﷺ الفجر، فثقلت عليه القراءة، فلما انصرف قال: إنى أراكم تقرءون وراء إمامكم، قلنا: أجل! والله يا رسول الله هذا، قال: فلا تفعلوا إلَّا فاتحة الكتاب، فإنَّه لا صلاة لمن لم يقرأ بها".
