A woman called Fusayla said that she heard her father say, "I asked, 'Messenger of Allah, is it part of disobedience for a man to help his people in something which is unjust?' 'Yes,' he replied."
سَمِعْتُ أَبِي يَقُولُ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَمِنَ الْعَصَبِيَّةِ أَنْ يُعِينَ الرَّجُلُ قَوْمَهُ عَلَى ظُلْمٍ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ
I asked: Messenger of Allah! what is party spirit? He replied: That you should help your people in wrongdoing.
أَنَّهَا سَمِعَتْ أَبَاهَا يَقُولُ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَا الْعَصَبِيَّةُ قَالَ أَنْ تُعِينَ قَوْمَكَ عَلَى الظُّلْمِ
“I asked the Prophet ﷺ: ‘O Messenger of Allah, is it tribalism if a man loves his people?’ He said: ‘No, rather tribalism is when a man helps his people to do wrong.’”
سَمِعْتُ أَبِي يَقُولُ سَأَلْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَمِنَ الْعَصَبِيَّةِ أَنْ يُحِبَّ الرَّجُلُ قَوْمَهُ قَالَ لاَ وَلَكِنْ مِنَ الْعَصَبِيَّةِ أَنْ يُعِينَ الرَّجُلُ قَوْمَهُ عَلَى الظُّلْمِ
