Instruct children to pray at seven and discipline them at ten

The Prophet ﷺ said: Command a boy to pray when he reaches the age of seven years. When he becomes ten years old, then beat him for prayer.

قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ مُرُوا الصَّبِيَّ بِالصَّلاَةِ إِذَا بَلَغَ سَبْعَ سِنِينَ وَإِذَا بَلَغَ عَشْرَ سِنِينَ فَاضْرِبُوهُ عَلَيْهَا

[AI] The messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Command your children to pray when they reach the age of seven, and discipline them for it when they reach the age of ten, and separate their sleeping arrangements."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مُرُوا صِبْيَانَكُمْ بِالصَّلَاةِإِذَا بَلَغُوا سَبْعًا وَاضْرِبُوهُمْ عَلَيْهَا إِذَا بَلَغُوا عَشْرًا وَفَرِّقُوا بَيْنَهُمْ فِي الْمَضَاجِعِ

[AI] The Messenger of Allahﷺ said: "Command your children to pray when they are seven years old, and discipline them for it when they are ten years old. Separate them in their sleeping arrangements. And when one of you marries his slave or a servant, let him not look at any part of her body except from her navel to her knees, for what is below her ankles is part of her nakedness."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مُرُوا أَبْنَاءَكُمْ بِالصَّلَاةِ لِسَبْعِ سِنِينَ وَاضْرِبُوهُمْ عَلَيْهَا لِعَشْرِ سِنِينَ وَفَرِّقُوا بَيْنَهُمْ فِي الْمَضَاجِعِ وَإِذَا أَنْكَحَ أَحَدُكُمْ عَبْدَهُ أَوْ أَجِيرَهُ فَلَا يَنْظُرَنَّ إِلَى شَيْءٍ مِنْ عَوْرَتِهِ فَإِنَّ مَا أَسْفَلَ مِنْ سُرَّتِهِ إِلَى رُكْبَتَيْهِ مِنْ عَوْرَتِهِ

[AI] His grandfather reported that he raised him to the Prophet ﷺ who said, "When your children reach the age of seven, separate their sleeping positions. And when they reach the age of ten, discipline them regarding prayer."

عَنْ جَدِّهِ رَفَعَهُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «إِذَا بَلَغَ أَوْلَادَكُمْ سَبْعَ سِنِينَ فَفَرِّقُوا بَيْنَ فُرُشِهِمْ وَإِذَا بَلَغُوا عَشْرَ سِنِينَ فَاضْرِبُوهُمْ عَلَى الصَّلَاةِ»

The Prophet ﷺ said: Command a boy to pray when he reaches the age of seven years. When he becomes ten years old, then beat him for prayer. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 494)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «يُؤْمَرُ الصَّبِيُّ بِالصَّلَاةِ إِذَا بَلَغَ سَبْعَ سِنِينَ فَإِذَا بَلَغَ عَشْرًا فَاضْرِبُوهُ عَلَيْهَا»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When a boy reaches the age of seven, teach him prayers, and when he reaches ten, discipline him for not performing them."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِذَا بَلَغَ الْغُلَامُ سَبْعَ سِنِينَ فَمُرُوهُ بِالصَّلَاةِ فَإِذَا بَلَغَ عَشْرًا فَاضْرِبُوهُ عَلَيْهَا»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Command your children to pray when they are seven years old, and discipline them for it when they are ten, and separate their sleeping places. And when one of you marries his servant or freedman, he should not see the private parts between his navel and his knees, for that area is part of his 'awrah (intimate parts)."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مُرُوا صِبْيَانَكُمْ بِالصَّلَاةِ فِي سَبْعِ سِنِينَ وَاضْرِبُوهُمْ عَلَيْهَا فِي عَشْرٍ وَفَرِّقُوا بَيْنَهُمْ فِي الْمَضَاجِعِ وَإِذَا زَوَّجَ الرَّجُلُ مِنْكُمْ عَبْدَهُ أَوْ أَجِيرَهُ فَلَا يَرَيْنَ مَا بَيْنَ سُرَّتِهِ وَرُكْبَتِهِ فَإِنَّ مَا بَيْنَ سُرَّتِهِ وَرُكْبَتِهِ مِنْ عَوْرَتِهِ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said: "Command your children to pray when they are seven years old, and discipline them for it at ten, and separate them in their beds. And when one of you marries his slave or servant or hired worker, do not let the slave-girls see anything of his 'Awrah (private parts), as what is between the navel and the knees is from the 'Awrah. And it has been narrated from Sawaar, from Muhammad bin Juhadah, from 'Amr, but it is not authentic."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مُرُوا صِبْيَانَكُمْ بِالصَّلَاةِ لِسَبْعٍ وَاضْرِبُوهُمْ عَلَيْهَا لِعَشْرٍ وَفَرِّقُوا بَيْنَهُمْ فِي الْمَضَاجِعِ وَإِذَا زَوَّجَ أَحَدُكُمْ عَبْدَهُ أَوْ أَمَتَهُ أَوْ أَجِيرَهُ فَلَا تَنْظُرُ الْأَمَةُ إِلَى شَيْءٍ مِنْ عَوْرَتِهِ فَإِنَّ مَا تَحْتَ السُّرَّةِ إِلَى رُكْبَتِهِ مِنَ الْعَوْرَةِ وَقَدْ قِيلَ عَنْ سَوَّارٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ جُحَادَةَ عَنْ عَمْرٍو وَلَيْسَ بِشَيْءٍ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Command your children to pray when they are seven years old, and discipline them for it when they are ten. Separate their sleeping places, and when you marry off one of your servants or slaves, do not look at any part of their nakedness. Indeed, all that is below the navel to the knees is considered nakedness."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مُرُوا صِبْيَانَكُمْ بِالصَّلَاةِ فِي سَبْعِ سِنِينَ وَاضْرِبُوهُمْ عَلَيْهَا فِي عَشْرٍ وَفَرِّقُوا بَيْنَهُمْ فِي الْمَضَاجِعِ وَإِذَا زَوَّجَ أَحَدُكُمْ خَادِمَهُ مِنْ عَبْدِهِ أَوْ أَجِيرِهِ فَلَا يَنْظُرَنَّ إِلَى شَيْءٍ مِنْ عَوْرَتِهِ فَإِنَّ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ أَسْفَلَ مِنْ سُرَّتِهِ إِلَى رُكْبَتِهِ مِنْ عَوْرَتِهِ

[AI] "Indeed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Teach your children prayer in seven years, discipline them in it in ten years, and separate them in the beds. And when one of you marries his servant or his slave, do not look at his nakedness, and his nakedness is between the navel and the knees."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ عَلِّمُوا صِبْيَانَكُمُ الصَّلَاةَ فِي سَبْعِ سِنِينَ وَأَدِّبُوهُمْ عَلَيْهَا فِي عَشْرِ سِنِينَ وَفَرِّقُوا بَيْنَهُمْ فِي الْمَضَاجِعِ وَإِذَا زَوَّجَ أَحَدُكُمْ أَمَتَهُ عَبْدَهُ أَوْ أَجِيرَهُ فَلَا تَنْظُرْ إِلَى عَوْرَتِهِ وَالْعَوْرَةُ فِيمَا بَيْنَ السُّرَّةِ وَالرُّكْبَةِ

Messenger of Allah (S) said: "Teach the boy Salat when he is seven years old, and beat him (if he does not pray) when he is ten." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 407)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَلِّمُوا الصَّبِيَّ الصَّلَاةَ ابْنَ سَبْعِ سِنِينَ وَاضْرِبُوهُ عَلَيْهَا ابْنَ عَشْرٍ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Command children to pray at the age of seven and discipline them for it at the age of ten, and separate them in their beds."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مُرُوا الصِّبْيَانَ بِالصَّلَاةِ لِسَبْعِ سِنِينَ وَاضْرِبُوهُمْ عَلَيْهَا فِي عَشْرٍ وَفَرِّقُوا بَيْنَهُمْ فِي الْمَضَاجِعِ

"إذا بلغ أولادُكمْ سَبْعَ سِنين فَفَرِّقوا بين فُرُشِهم، وإذا بَلَغُوا عشْرَ سِنِينَ فاضْربُوهْم عَلَى الصَّلاةِ ".

"عَلِّمُوا أَوْلادَكُم الصَّلاةَ إِذا بَلَغُوا سَبعًا، واضْرِبوهُم عَلَيهَا إِذَا بَلَغُوا عَشْرًا، وَفَرِّقُوا بَينَهُم في الْمَضَاجع".

"مُرْهُم (*) بالصَّلاةِ لِسبْع سِنِين واضْربُوهُم عَلَيهَا لِثَلاث عَشْرة".

["مُرُوا الصَّبيَّ بالصَّلاةِ إِذَا بلَغ سَبع سِنِينَ] (*)، وإذَا بَلَغَ عَشْرَ سِنِينَ فَاضْربُوه عَلَيهَا".

["مُرُوا أَوْلادكم بِالصَّلاة وهُم أَبْناءُ سَبْع سنِينَ، واضْربُوهُم علَيهَا وهُم أَبْنَاءُ عَشْرِ سِنِينَ] (*)، وفَرِّقُوا بَينَهُم في المَضَاجِع، وإذَا زَوَّج أَحدُكُم خَادِمَهُ: عَبْدَهُ أَوْ أَجيرَهُ فَلا يَنْظُرْ إِلَى ما دُونَ السُّرَّةِ، وفَوْقَ الرُّكبَةِ، فَإِن مَا بَين سُرَّتِهِ ورُكبتهِ مِن عَوْرَتِهِ".
