[Machine] I said, "O Messenger of Allah, do you have a basin?" He said, "Yes, and the one I desire the most to come to it among your people is like this." This narration was reported by Abu Khalid al-Ahmar, and people have said about Hulah bint Qays.

قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ لَكَ حَوْضًا؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ وَأَحَبُّ مَنْ يَرِدُهُ عَلِيَّ قَوْمُكِ هَكَذَا رَوَاهُ أَبُو خَالِدٍ الْأَحْمَرُ وَقَالَ النَّاسُ عَنْ خَوْلَةَ بِنْتِ قَيْسٍ

[Machine] About Khawlah bint Al-Samit, her husband was sick, so he called her and she came quickly to him. He said to her, "If I come close to you or touch you, it is as if I am on the back of my mother." So she went to the Prophet ﷺ and complained to him about it, but he did not respond to her or show any interest. Then she came to him again, and the Prophet ﷺ came and said, "Free a slave." She replied, "I do not have one." He said, "Then fast for two consecutive months." She said, "I am not able to." He said, "Then feed sixty poor people, thirty sa'a of dates." She said, "I do not own that, unless you help me." So the Prophet ﷺ helped him with fifteen sa'a of dates, and the people also helped him until he reached the required amount. He then said, "By Allah, no one is more needy of this than me and my household." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Take it for yourself and your household." This is how Khawlah bint Al-Samit, the daughter of Tha'labah, the wife of Aws bin Al-Samit, narrated the incident.

عَنْ خَوْلَةَ بِنْتِ الصَّامِتِ وَكَانَ زَوْجُهَا مَرِيضًا فَدَعَاهَا فَأَبْطَتْ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَ لَهَا إِنْ قَرَبْتُكِ أَوْ وَطْأَتُكِ فَأَنْتِ عَلِيَّ كَظَهْرِ أُمِّي فَأَتَتِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَشَكَتْ ذَلِكَ إِلَيْهِ فَلَمْ يَرُدَّ عَلَيْهَا شَيْئًا وَلَمْ يَكُنْ بَلَغَهُ فِيهِ شَيْءٌ ثُمَّ أَتَتْهُ مَرَّةً أُخْرَى فَجَاءَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَقَالَ «أَعْتِقْ رَقَبَةً» فَقَالَ لَيْسَ عِنْدِي فَقَالَ «صُمْ شَهْرَيْنِ مُتَتَابِعَيْنِ» قَالَ لَا أَقْدِرُ قَالَ «فَأَطْعِمْ سِتِّينَ مِسْكِينًا ثَلَاثِينَ صَاعًا» قَالَ لَا أَمْلِكُ ذَلِكَ إِلَّا أَنْ تُعِينَنِي فَأَعَانَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بِخَمْسَةَ عَشَرَ صَاعًا وأَعَانَهُ النَّاسُ حَتَّى بَلَغَ فَقَالَ وَاللهِ مَا أَحَدٌ أَفْقَرُ إِلَيْهِ مِنِّي وَمِنْ أَهْلِ بَيْتِي فَقَالَ «خُذْهَا أَنْتَ وَأَهْلُ بَيْتِكَ» قَالَ أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ هَكَذَا قَالَتْ خَوْلَةُ بِنْتُ الصَّامِتِ وَهِيَ خَوْلَةُ بِنْتُ ثَعْلَبَةَ امْرَأَةُ أَوْسِ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said: "Allah does not sanctify a nation that allows its strong to wrong its weak without seeking justice." He also said: "Whoever turns away from his adversary while still feeling content with him, the beasts of the earth and the fish of the sea will curse him. But whoever turns away from his adversary while feeling angry, injustice will be written against him every day and night, every Friday and every month."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَا يُقَدِّسُ اللهُ أُمَّةً لَا يَأْخُذُ ضَعِيفُها مِنْ قَوِيِّها حَقَّهُ غَيْرَ مُتَعْتَعٍ» وَقَالَ «مَنِ انْصَرَفَ عَنْ غَرِيمِهِ وَهُوَ رَاضٍ عَنْهُ صَلَّتَ عَلَيْهِ دَوَابَّ الْأَرْضِ وَنُونَ الْبِحَارِ وَمَنِ انْصَرَفَ عَنْ غَرِيمِهِ وَهُوَ سَاخِطٌ كُتِبَ عَلَيْهِ فِي كُلِّ يَوْمٍ وَلَيْلَةٍ وَجُمُعَةٍ وَشَهْرٍ ظَلَمَ»

[Machine] About her mother, who was a servant of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , it was narrated that a scorpion entered the house and went under the bed and died. The Prophet ﷺ stayed for a few days without receiving revelation. He said, "O Khawla, what happened in the house of the Messenger of Allah? Gabriel does not come to me. Did something happen in the house of the Messenger of Allah?" I said, "By Allah, a day has not passed upon us that is better than our day." He then put on his shoes and went out. I said, "If I prepare the house and sweep it, I will sweep under the bed." So I took the broom and went under the bed, and there was something heavy. I kept sweeping until I took it out, and it was a dead scorpion. I took it with my hand and threw it behind the house. Then the Messenger of Allah came hearing his beard quivering, and whenever he received revelation, his beard would quiver. He said, "O Khawla, cover me." So Allah revealed: "By the morning brightness, and by the night when it covers (the earth), your Lord has neither forsaken you nor hated you."

عَنْ أُمِّهَا وَكَانَتْ خَادِمَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَنَّ جِرْوًا دَخَلَ الْبَيْتَ وَدَخَلَ تَحْتَ السَّرِيرِ وَمَاتَ فَمَكَثَ نَبِيُّ اللهِ ﷺ أَيَّامًا لَا يَنْزِلُ عَلَيْهِ الْوَحْيُ فَقَالَ يَا خَوْلَةُ مَا حَدَثَ فِي بَيْتِ رَسُولِ اللهِ جِبْرِيلُ لَا يَأْتِينِي فَهَلْ حَدَثَ فِي بَيْتِ رَسُولِ اللهِ حَدَثٌ فَقُلْتُ وَاللهِ مَا أَتَى عَلَيْنَا يَوْمٌ خَيْرٌ مِنْ يَوْمِنَا فَأَخَذَ بُرْدَهُ فَلَبِسَهُ وَخَرَجَ فَقُلْتُ لَوْ هَيَّأْتُ الْبَيْتَ وكَنَسْتَهُ فَأَهْوَيْتُ بِالْمِكْنَسَةِ تَحْتَ السَّرِيرِ فَإِذَا شَيْءٌ ثَقِيلٌ فَلَمْ أَزَلْ حَتَّى أَخْرَجْتُهُ فَإِذَا بِجِرْوٍ مَيِّتٍ فَأَخَذْتُهُ بِيَدِي فَأَلْقَيْتُهُ خَلْفَ الدَّارِ فَجَاءَ نَبِيُّ اللهِ تَرْعَدُ لَحْيَيْهِ وَكَانَ إِذَا أَتَاهُ الْوَحْيُ أَخَذَتْهُ الرِّعْدَةُ فَقَالَ يَا خَوْلَةُ دَثِّريني فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ {وَالضُّحَى وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا سَجَى مَا وَدَّعَكَ رَبُّكَ وَمَا قَلَى}

It as narrated from Abu Bakr bin Muhammad that Khalidah bint Anas, the mother of Banu Hazm As-Sa’idiyyah, came to the Prophet ﷺ and recited a Ruqyah to him, and he told her to use it. (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3514)

أَنَّ خَالِدَةَ بِنْتَ أَنَسٍ أُمَّ بَنِي حَزْمٍ السَّاعِدِيَّةَ جَاءَتْ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَعَرَضَتْ عَلَيْهِ الرُّقَى فَأَمَرَ بِهَا

[Machine] About her aunt Khulaydah bint Qa'nab, she was one of the women who had met the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and pledged allegiance to him. She said, "A woman came to him wearing a gold bracelet, but he refused to pledge allegiance to her. She left the gathering and threw away the bracelet. Then she returned and he pledged allegiance to her. She looked for the bracelet, but it was gone."

عَنْ خَالَتِهَا خُلَيْدَةَ بِنْتِ قَعْنَبٍ وَكَانَتْ مِنَ النِّسْوَةِ اللَّاتِي أَتَيْنَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَبَايَعْنَهُ قَالَتْ فَأَتَتْهُ امْرَأَةٌ عَلَيْهَا سِوَارٌ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ فَأَبَى أَنْ يُبَايِعَهَا فَخَرَجَتْ مِنَ الزِّحَامِ فَرَمَتِ السِّوارَ ثُمَّ جَاءَتْ فَبَايَعَهَا فَخَرَجَتْ تَنْظُرُ السِّوارَ فَذَهَبَتْ تَنْظُرُهُ فَإِذَا هُوَ ذُهِبَ بِهِ

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "Shall I not inform you of the expiations for sins?" They said, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah." He said, "Performing ablution when it is disliked, frequently making mistakes but going to the mosques, and waiting for the next prayer after prayer."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ أَلَا أُخْبِرُكُمْ بِكَفَّارَاتِ الْخَطَايَا؟ قَالُوا بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَالَ «إِسْبَاغُ الْوُضُوءِ عِنْدَ الْمَكَارِهِ وَكَثْرَةُ الْخُطَا إِلَى الْمَسَاجِدِ وَانْتِظَارُ الصَّلَاةِ بَعْدَ الصَّلَاةِ»

[Machine] That he heard her say, "My hand and the hand of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ differed in one container."

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَهَا تَقُولُ «قَدِ اخْتَلَفَ يَدِي وَيَدُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي إِنَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ»

My hands and the hands of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ alternated into one vessel while we performed ablution. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 78)

«اخْتَلَفَتْ يَدِي وَيَدُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي إِنَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ فِي الْوُضُوءِ»

[Machine] I heard Umm Subayyah Al-Juhaniyah saying, "My hand disagreed with the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in performing ablution from a single vessel."

سَمِعْتُ أُمَّ صُبَيَّةَ الْجُهَنِيَّةَ تَقُولُ «اخْتَلَفَتْ يَدِي مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فِي الْوُضُوءِ مِنْ إِنَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ»

[Machine] I heard Umm Subayyah say, "My hand and the hand of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ differed in performing ablution from a single vessel."

سَمِعْتُ أُمَّ صُبَيَّةَ تَقُولُ «اخْتَلَفَتْ يَدِي وَيَدُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي الْوُضُوءِ مِنْ إِنَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ»

[Machine] Perhaps I argued with the Prophet ﷺ about using the same vessel for performing ablution.

رُبَّمَا نَازَعْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فِي الْإِنَاءِ أَتَوَضَّأُ أَنَا وَهُوَ مِنْ إِنَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ

My hands and the hands of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ alternated into one vessel while we performed ablution. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 78)

«اخْتَلَفَتْ يَدِي وَيَدُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي إِنَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ فِي الْوُضُوءِ»

[Machine] It was among those who devoted themselves to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ

أَنَّهَا كَانَتْ مِنَ اللَّاتِي وَهَبْنَ أَنْفُسَهُنَّ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ

Khaula bint Hakim was one of those ladies who presented themselves to the Prophet ﷺ for marriage. ʿAisha said, "Doesn't a lady feel ashamed for presenting herself to a man?" But when the Verse: "(O Muhammad) You may postpone (the turn of) any of them (your wives) that you please,' (33.51) was revealed, " ʿAisha said, 'O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! I do not see, but, that your Lord hurries in pleasing you.' " (Using translation from Bukhārī 5113)

كَانَتْ خَوْلَةُ بِنْتُ حَكِيمٍ مِنَ اللَّاتِي وَهَبْنَ أَنْفُسَهُنَّ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ

I heard Messenger of Allah ﷺ as saying: When anyone lands at a place, and then says:" I seek refuge in the Perfect Word of Allah from the evil of what He has created," nothing would harm him until he marches from that stopping place. (Using translation from Muslim 2708a)

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «مَنْ نَزَلَ مَنْزِلًا فَقَالَ أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ لَمْ يَضُرَّهُ شَيْءٌ حَتَّى يَرْتَحِلَ مِنْ مَنْزِلِهِ ذَلِكَ»

[Machine] She heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "When one of you enters his home, let him say 'I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created, for nothing can harm him until he leaves it.'"

أَنَّهَا سَمِعَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «إِذَا نَزَلَ أَحَدُكُمْ مَنْزِلًا فَلْيَقُلْ أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ فَإِنَّهُ لَا يَضُرَّهُ شَيْءٌ حَتَّى يَرْتَحِلَ مِنْهُ»

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever enters a house and says, 'I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created, nothing will harm him in that house until he leaves it."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَنْ نَزَلَ مَنْزِلًا فَقَالَ أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللهِ التَّامَّةِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ لَمْ يَضُرَّهُ فِي ذَلِكَ الْمَنْزِلِ شَيْءٌ حَتَّى يَرْتَحِلَ»

[Machine] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If one of you enters a house and says, 'I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created,' nothing from that house will harm him until he leaves."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «لَوْ أَنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ إِذَا نَزَلَ مَنْزِلًا قَالَ أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ لَمْ يَضُرَّهُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ الْمَنْزِلِ شَيْءٌ حَتَّى يَرْتَحِلَ»

[Machine] Al-Qa'nabi narrated from Malik, and Abu Yazid al-Qaraṭisi narrated from Abdullah ibn Abdul-Hakam, and Bakr ibn Sahl narrated from Abdullah ibn Yusuf. They all said: I, Malik, was informed by Yahya ibn Abdullah ibn al-Ashajj from Busr ibn Said, a freed slave of al-Hadrami, from Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas, from Khawla bint Hakim, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever enters a dwelling and says 'A'oodhu bil-kalimaat Allah al-tammaati min sharri ma khalaq, fa innahu lam yadhurruhu fi manzilihi dhalika shay'an hatta yartahila minhu,' no harm shall come to him in his dwelling until he leaves it."

ثنا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ عَنْ مَالِكٍ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو يَزِيدَ الْقَرَاطِيسِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْحَكَمِ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ قَالَا أَنَا مَالِكٌ أَنَّهُ بَلَغَهُ عَنْ يَعْقُوبَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الْأَشَجِّ عَنْ بُسْرِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ مَوْلَى الْحَضْرَمِيِّينَ عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ عَنْ خَوْلَةَ بِنْتِ حَكِيمٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ نَزَلَ مَنْزِلًا فَقَالَ أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ فَإِنَّهُ لَمْ يَضُرَّهُ فِي مَنْزِلِهِ ذَلِكَ شَيْءٌ حَتَّى يَرْتَحِلَ مِنْهُ»

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever enters a dwelling and says, 'I seek refuge with the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created, nothing will harm him in that dwelling until he departs from it.'"

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَنْ نَزَلَ مَنْزِلًا فَقَالَ أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللهِ التَّامَّاتِ كُلِّهَا مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ فَإِنَّهُ لَمْ يَضُرَّهُ فِي مَنْزِلِهِ ذَلِكَ شَيْءٌ حَتَّى يَظْعَنَ مِنْهُ»

[Machine] That the Prophet ﷺ went out one day while carrying one of his granddaughter's sons and saying, "By Allah, you are stingy, cowards, and ignorant, and yet you are from the fragrance of Allah. And indeed, the last step which the Lord of the worlds made was with a face." Ibn Abi 'Umar added in his narration, Sufyan said, "At the end of a battle, the Prophet ﷺ waged against Ta'if. And the poet said, 'I will seek from you the trace of the one who has been transmitted.'"

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ خَرَجَ يَوْمًا وَهُوَ مُحْتَضِنٌ أَحَدَ بَنِي ابْنَتِهِ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ «وَاللهِ إِنَّكُمْ لَتُبَخِّلُونَ وَتُجَبِّنُونَ وَتُجَهِّلُونَ وإِنَّكُمْ لَمِنْ رَيْحَانِ اللهِ وإِنَّ آخِرَ وَطْأَةٍ وَطَأَها رَبُّ الْعَالَمِينَ بِوَجٍّ» زَادَ ابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ فِي حَدِيثِهِ قَالَ سُفْيَانُ آخِرُ غَزْوَةٍ غَزَاهَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ الطَّائِفَ وَقَالَ الشَّاعِرُ لأَطْلُبَنَّكُمْ وَطْأَةَ الْمُتَناقِلِ

[Machine] Khawlah bint Hakim asked the Prophet ﷺ , "O Messenger of Allah, can a woman see in her dream what a man sees?" He replied, "If she sees such a thing, she should perform ablution."

أَنَّ خَوْلَةَ بِنْتَ حَكِيمٍ سَأَلْتِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ الْمَرْأَةُ تَرَى فِي الْمَنَامِ مَا يَرَى الرَّجُلُ قَالَ «إِذَا رَأَتْ فَلْتَغْتَسِلْ»

[Machine] "She asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about a woman who sees in her dream what a man sees: does she need to perform ablution? He replied, 'Yes, if she sees water.'"

أَنَّهَا اسْتَفْتَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ عَنِ الْمَرْأَةِ تَرَى فِي مَنَامِهَا مَا يَرَى الرَّجُلُ هَلْ عَلَيْهَا غُسْلٌ؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ إِذَا رَأَتِ الْمَاءَ»

[Machine] She asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about a woman who sees in her dream what a man sees, so he said, "She does not have any blame, just as a man, if he does not have an emission, is not required to perform ablution until he has an emission."

أَنَّهَا سَأَلَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ عَنِ الْمَرْأَةِ تَرَى فِي مَنَامِهَا مَا يَرَى الرَّجُلُ فَقَالَ «لَيْسَ عَلَيْهَا شَيْءٌ كَمَا أَنَّ الرَّجُلَ إِذَا لَمْ يُنْزِلْ لَيْسَ عَلَيْهِ غَسَلٌ حَتَّى يُنْزِلَ»

[Machine] She asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about a woman who sees in her dream what a man sees. He said, "There is nothing on her as there is nothing on a man if he does not ejaculate."

أَنَّهَا سَأَلَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ عَنِ الْمَرْأَةِ تَرَى فِي مَنَامِهَا مَا يَرَى الرَّجُلُ فَقَالَ «لَيْسَ عَلَيْهَا شَيْءٌ كَمَا أَنَّ الرَّجُلَ إِذَا لَمْ يُنْزِلْ لَيْسَ عَلَيْهِ شَيْءٌ»

[Machine] The righteous woman Khawla bint Hakeem claimed that the Messenger of Allah, may ﷺ , said, "Children are a source of grief, cowardice, ignorance, and stinginess. But the last footprint that Almighty Allah treads upon is kissed by Him."

زَعَمَتِ الْمَرْأَةُ الصَّالِحَةُ خَوْلَةُ بِنْتُ حَكِيمٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «الْوَلَدُ مَحْزَنَةٌ مَجْبَنَةٌ مَجْهَلَةٌ مَبْخَلَةٌ وَإِنَّ آخِرَ وَطْأَةٍ وََطئَهَا اللهُ ﷻ بِوَجٍّ»

[Machine] I said, "O Messenger of Allah, I am menstruating and I only have one garment." He said, "Wash it and pray in it." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, it will still have traces of blood." He said, "It will not harm you."

قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنِّي أَحِيضُ وَلَيْسَ لِي إِلَّا ثَوْبٌ وَاحِدٌ قَالَ «اغْسِلِيهِ وَصَلِّي فِيهِ» قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّهُ يَبْقَى فِيهِ أَثَرُ الدَّمِ قَالَ «لَا يَضُرُّكِ»

[Machine] I heard the Prophet ﷺ saying, "Indeed, the worldly life is sweet and green, but certainly, there will be men who will indulge in the wealth of Allah and His Messenger unjustly. For them, there will be the fire on the Day of Resurrection."

سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَقُولُ «إِنَّ الدُّنْيَا حُلْوَةٌ خَضِرَةٌ وَإِنَّ رِجَالًا سَيَخُوضُونَ فِي مَالِ اللهِ وَرَسُولِهِ بِغَيْرِ حَقٍّ لَهُمُ النَّارُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ»

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ addressed us, saying, "O women, do you not have enough in what is written for you? For indeed, there is no woman who adorns herself with gold and displays it except that she will be punished with it."

خَطَبَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «يَا مَعْشَرَ النِّسَاءِ أَمَا لَكُنَّ فِي الْوَرِقِ مَا يَكْفِيكُنَّ فَإِنَّهُ لَيْسَ مِنِ امْرَأَةٍ تَحَلَّى ذَهَبًا تُظْهِرُهُ إِلَّا عُذِّبَتْ بِهِ»

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ addressed us, saying, "O women, why do you rely on adornment and beauty that is temporary? There is not a woman among you who adorns herself with gold and displays it, except that she will be punished with it on the Day of Judgment."

خَطَبَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «يَا مَعْشَرَ النِّسَاءِ أَمَا لَكُنَّ فِي الْوَرِقِ مَا تَكْتَفِينَ بِهِ فَإِنَّهُ لَيْسَ مِنْكُنَّ امْرَأَةٌ تَحَلَّى بِالذَّهَبِ فَتُظْهِرَهُ إِلَّا عُذِّبَتْ بِهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ»

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ delivered a sermon to us and said, "O women! Do you not have in your monthly cycles what is sufficient for you? For it is not permissible for any one of you to wear gold and show it off except that she will be punished with it on the Day of Resurrection."

خَطَبَنَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَقَالَ «يَا مَعْشَرَ النِّسَاءِ أَمَا لَكُنَّ فِي الْوَرِقِ مَا تَكْتَفِينَ بِهِ إِنَّهُ لَيْسَ مِنْكُنَّ تَحَلَّى الذَّهَبَ فَتُظْهِرَهُ إِلَّا عُذِّبَتْ بِهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ»

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood among us and praised Allah, then he said, "O women, what is it about jewelry that you adorn yourselves with? Indeed, any woman who adorns herself with gold and displays it will be punished with it."

قَامَ فِينَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَحَمِدَ اللهَ وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ «يَا مَعْشَرَ النِّسَاءِ أَمَا لَكُنَّ فِي الْفِضَّةِ مَا تَحَلَّيْنَهُ إِنَّهُ لَيْسَ مِنِ امْرَأَةٍ تَحَلَّى ذَهَبًا فَتُظْهِرُهُ إِلَّا عُذِّبَتْ بِهِ»

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , addressed us and said, "O womenfolk, why do you adorn yourselves with silver? There is not a woman among you who adorns herself with gold except that she will be punished for it."

خَطَبَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «يَا مَعْشَرَ النِّسَاءِ أَمَا لَكُنَّ فِي الْفِضَّةِ مَا تَحَلَّيْنَ بِهِ أَمَا أَنَّهُ لَيْسَ مِنْكُنَّ امْرَأَةٌ تَحَلَّى ذَهَبًا إِلَّا عُذِّبَتْ عَلَيْهِ»

[Machine] She heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ delivering a sermon, saying, "O women, why do you adorn yourselves with silver? No woman among you wears gold in public except that she will be punished for it."

أَنَّهَا سَمِعَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَخْطُبُ فَقَالَ «يَا مَعْشَرَ النِّسَاءِ أَمَا لَكُنَّ فِي الْفِضَّةِ مَا تَحَلَّيْنَ بِهِ مَا مِنْكُنَّ مِنِ امْرَأَةٍ تَلْبَسُ ذَهَبًا تُظْهِرُهُ إِلَّا عُذِّبَتْ بِهِ»

"The Messenger of Allah [SAW] addressed us and said: 'O women, do you not have any silver to wear for adornment? For there is no woman among you who wears gold and shows it, but she will be punished because of it.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 5137)

خَطَبَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «يَا مَعْشَرَ النِّسَاءِ أَمَا لَكُنَّ فِي الْفِضَّةِ مَا تَحَلَّيْنَ بِهِ أَمَا أَنَّهُ لَيْسَ مِنِ امْرَأَةٍ تَحَلَّتْ ذَهَبًا تُظْهِرُهُ إِلَّا عُذِّبَتْ بِهِ»

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ delivered a sermon and praised Allah and glorified Him, then he said, "O women, why do you adorn yourselves with silver? There is no woman who adorns herself with gold and displays it, except that she will be punished for it."

خَطَبَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَحَمِدَ اللهَ وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ «يَا مَعْشَرَ النِّسَاءِ أَمَا لَكُنَّ فِي الْفِضَّةِ مَا تَحَلَّيْنَ بِهِ إِنَّهُ لَيْسَ مِنِ امْرَأَةٍ تَحَلَّى ذَهَبًا تُظْهِرُهُ إِلَّا عُذِّبَتْ بِهِ»

[Machine] I entered upon the Prophet ﷺ and he had a high fever. So, I said, "You, O Messenger of Allah, have a severe fever. If you supplicate to Allah, He will surely relieve you from it." He said, "The prophets have the most severe trials, then those who are closest to them." It is mentioned that there was a tent attached to a tree for him, and he would lie down under it while water was dripping onto his chest.

دَخَلْتُ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَقَدْ حُمَّ فَاشْتَدَّتْ بِهِ الْحُمَّى فَقُلْتُ أَنْتَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَدِ اشْتَدَّتْ بِكَ الْحُمَّى فَلَوْ دَعَوْتَ اللهَ فَكَشَفَها عَنْكَ فَقَالَ «أَشَدُّ النَّاسِ بَلَاءً الْأَنْبِيَاءُ ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ» قَالَتْ وَقَدْ عُلِّقَ لَهُ سِقَاءٌ عَلَى شَجَرَةٍ وَاضْطَجَعَ تَحْتَهُ وَالْمَاءُ تَقْطُرُ عَلَى فُؤَادِهِ

[Machine] We entered upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with the immigrant women, and we would narrate to him while he was preoccupied. So he ordered a bucket with water in it to be brought, and it was hung on a tree. The water began to drip onto his chest from the intensity of what he found. So we said, "O Messenger of Allah, if only you would supplicate to Allah to alleviate what you are experiencing." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The most severely afflicted among people are the Prophets, then those who are closest to them, then those who are closest to them."

دَخَلْنَا عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي نِسَاءِ الْمُهَاجِرَاتِ نَعُودُهُ وَهُوَ مَحْمُومٌ فَأَمَرَ بِسِقَاءٍ فِيهِ مَاءٌ فَعُلِّقَ عَلَى شَجَرَةٍ فَجَعَلَ الْمَاءَ يَقْطُرُ عَلَى فُؤَادِهِ مِنْ شِدَّة مَا يَجِدُ فَقُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ لَوْ دَعَوْتَ اللهَ كَشَفَ مَا بِكَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أَشَدُّ النَّاسِ بَلَاءً الْأَنْبِيَاءُ ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ»

[Machine] She entered upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he ordered a bucket to be hung on a tree. Then he laid down under it and drops of water dripped onto his heart. So, I said to him, "Ask Allah to relieve you." He said, "The messengers are the ones who are tested the most and then those who follow them."

أَنَّهَا دَخَلَتْ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَأَمَرَ بِسِقَاءٍ فَعُلِّقَ عَلَى شَجَرَةٍ ثُمَّ اضْطَجَعَ تَحْتَهُ فَجَعَلَ يَقْطُرُ عَلَى فُؤَادِهِ فَقُلْتُ ادْعُ اللهَ فَيَكْشِفُ عَنْكَ قَالَ «إِنَّ أَشَدَّ النَّاسِ بَلَاءً الْأَنْبِيَاءُ ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ»

[Machine] I returned to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in a state of illness, with my throat hanging down due to the intensity of fever. I said, “O Messenger of Allah, if you supplicate to Allah, it will go away from me.” He replied, “Some of the most severely tested among people are the prophets, then the righteous, then the best of people. The test is in accordance with one’s religious commitment. So, if a person is steadfast in his religious commitment, his test will be more severe, and if he is weak in his religious commitment, he will be tested according to his level of religious commitment. And calamity will keep befalling a person until he walks on the earth with no sins on him.”

عُدْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فِي نِسَاءٍ وَقَدْ عَلَّقَ السِّقَاءُ يَقْطُرُ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ شِدَّةِ الْحُمَّى فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ لَوْ دَعَوْتَ فَذَهَبَ عَنْكَ شِدَّتُهَا فَقَالَ «أَشَدُّ النَّاسِ بَلَاءً الْأَنْبِيَاءُ ثُمَّ الصَّالِحُونَ ثُمَّ الْأَمْثَلُ فَالْأَمْثَلُ»

[Machine] I entered upon the Prophet ﷺ while he was sweating, so he commanded for a a bucket to be hung on a tree, then he lay down beneath it and let the water drip on his chest. So I said to him, "O Messenger of Allah, if you were to supplicate to Allah, He would relieve you." He said, "Verily, the prophets are the ones who face the greatest trials, followed by those who come after them, then those who come after them."

دَخَلْتُ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَقَدْ حُمَّ فَأَمَرَ بِسِقَاءٍ فَعُلِّقَ عَلَى شَجَرَةٍ ثُمَّ اضْطَجَعَ تَحْتَهُ فَجَعَلَ الْمَاءُ يَقْطُرُ عَلَى فُؤَادِهِ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ لَوْ دَعَوْتَ اللهَ فَكَشَفَ عَنْكَ فَقَالَ «إِنَّ مِنْ أَشَدِّ النَّاسِ بَلَاءً الْأَنْبِيَاءَ ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ»

[Machine] I entered upon the Prophet ﷺ while he was coughing and his forehead had a large drop of perspiration. I said, "O Messenger of Allah, what is this?" He said, "We, the group of prophets, are the ones who are subjected to the most calamities."

دَخَلْتُ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَهُوَ يُوعَكُ وَقَدْ عَلَّقَ سِقَاءً يَقْطُرُ عَلَى فُؤَادِهِ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ مَا هَذَا؟ فَقَالَ «إِنَا مَعْشَرَ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ يُضَاعَفُ عَلَيْنَا الْبَلَاءُ»

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "There is no good in the gathering of women except in cases of the deceased, for when they gather, they often talk and talk."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «لَا خَيْرَ فِي جَمَاعَةِ النِّسَاءِ إِلَّا عِنْدَ مَيِّتٍ فَإِنَّهُنَّ إِذَا اجْتَمَعْنَ قُلْنَ وَقُلْنَ»

[Machine] Ali entered one day and spoke to me angrily. I responded to him, "You are like the back of my mother." Then he left, sat down, called his people, and returned to me, aiming at me. I resisted and he became more aggressive, so I became more aggressive towards him. I defeated him in the same way a weak woman defeats a man. I said, "No, by the One in whose hand is Khuwaylah's soul, you will not reach her until Allah judges between me and you." So, I went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to complain about what I had experienced from him. He said, "Your husband and your cousin. Fear Allah." Then Allah revealed: "Allah has indeed heard the statement of her that disputes with you concerning her husband and complains to Allah" [Quran 58:1]. It continued until the expiation was mentioned. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Tell him to emancipate a slave." So, I said, "O Messenger of Allah, by Allah, he does not have a slave to emancipate." He said, "Then let him fast for two consecutive months." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, he is an old man and he is not able to fast." He said, "Then let him feed sixty poor people." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, by Allah, he does not have anything to feed them." He said, "Then we will assist him with a measure of dates, and the measure is large enough to be equivalent to thirty Sa' [a unit of volume]." I said, "And I will assist him with another measure of dates." He said, "You have done well. Command him to give charity with it."

دَخَلَ عَلِيَّ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ فَكَلِّمْنِي بِشَيْءٍ وَهُوَ فِيهِ كالضَّجِرِ فَرَادَدْتُهُ فَقَالَ أَنْتِ عَلِيَّ كَظَهْرِ أُمِّي ثُمَّ خَرَجَ فَجَلَسَ ثُمَّ نَادَى قَوْمَهُ ثُمَّ رَجَعَ إِلَيَّ فَأَرَادَنِي عَلَى نَفْسِي فَامْتَنَعْتُ مِنْهُ فَشَادَدَنِي فَشَادَدْتُهُ فَغَلَبَتُهُ بِمَا تَغْلِبُ بِهِ الْمَرْأَةُ الرَّجُلَ الضَّعِيفَ فَقُلْتُ كَلَّا وَالَّذِي نَفْسُ خُوَيْلَةَ بِيَدِهِ لَا تَصِلُ إِلَيْهَا حَتَّى يَحْكُمَ اللهُ فِيَّ وفيكَ فَأَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَشْكُو إِلَيْهِ مَا لَقِيتُ مِنْهُ فَقَالَ زَوْجُكِ وَابْنُ عَمِّكِ فَاتَّقِي اللهَ فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ {قَدْ سَمِعَ اللهُ قَوْلَ الَّتِي تُجَادِلُكَ فِي زَوْجِهَا وَتَشْتَكِي إِلَى اللهِ} حَتَّى بَلَغَ الْكَفَّارَةَ ثُمَّ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مُرِيهِ فَلْيُعْتِقْ رَقَبَةً» فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ وَاللهِ مَا عِنْدَهُ رَقَبَةً يَعْتِقُهَا قَالَ «فَلْيَصُمْ شَهْرَيْنِ مُتَتَابِعَيْنِ» قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ شَيْخٌ كَبِيرٌ وَاللهِ مَا بِهِ صِيَامٌ قَالَ «فَلْيُطْعِمْ سِتِّينَ مِسْكِينًا» قُلْتُ وَاللهِ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ مَا عِنْدَهُ مَا يُطْعِمُ قَالَ بَلْ سَنُعِينُهُ بِعَرَقٍ مِنْ تَمْرٍ وَالْعَرَقُ مِكْتَلٌ يَتَّسِعُ ثَلَاثِينَ صَاعًا قُلْتُ وَأَنَا أُعِينُهُ بِعَرَقٍ آخَرَ قَالَ «قَدْ أَحْسَنْتِ فَمُرِيهِ فَلْيَتَصَدَّقْ بِهِ»

[Machine] She was a servant to the Prophet ﷺ called Khadra.

كَانَتْ خَادِمَ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ يُقَالُ لَهَا خَضْرَةُ

that her father gave her in marriage when she was a matron and she disliked that marriage. So she went to Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he declared that marriage invalid. (Using translation from Bukhārī 5138)

«أَنَّ أَبَاهَا زَوَّجَهَا وَهِيَ ثَيِّبٌ فَكَرِهَتْ ذَلِكَ فَأَتَتِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَرَدَّ نِكَاحَهُ»

[Machine] My father married me off while I disliked it and I am a virgin, so I complained about it to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he said, "Do not marry her if she dislikes it."

أَنْكَحَنِي أَبِي وَأَنَا كَارِهَةٌ وَأَنَا بِكْرٌ فَشَكَوْتُ ذَلِكَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «لَا تُنْكِحْهَا وَهِيَ كَارِهَةٌ»

[Machine] That her father married her off while she was a reluctant girl, so the Prophet ﷺ contemplated "her marriage".

أَنَّ أَبَاهَا زَوَّجَهَا وَهِيَ بِنْتٌ كَارِهَةً فَرَدَّ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «نِكَاحَهَا»

[Machine] Her matter was brought to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , so a man commanded her father to marry her off to a man from the Bani Amr ibn Awf, and it was mentioned that she had inclination towards Abu Lubabah.

شَأْنُهَا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَأَمَرَ رَجُلٌ فَزَوَّجَهَا أَبُوهَا رَجُلًا مِنْ بَنِي عَمْرِو بْنِ عَوْفٍ وَأَنَّهَا حَنَّتْ إِلَى أَبِي لُبَابَةَ
