أُصِيبَ أَنْفُهُ يَوْمَ الْكُلاَبِ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ قَالَ فَاتَّخَذَ أَنْفًا مِنْ فِضَّةٍ فَأَنْتَنَ عَلَيْهِ فَأَمَرَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ أَنْ يَتَّخِذَهُ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ

His nose was cut off at the battle of Al-Kulab during the Jahiliyyah, so he wore a nose made of silver, but it began to rot, so the Prophet [SAW] told him to wear a nose made of gold.
أَنَّهُ أُصِيبَ أَنْفُهُ يَوْمَ الْكُلاَبِ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ فَاتَّخَذَ أَنْفًا مِنْ وَرِقٍ فَأَنْتَنَ عَلَيْهِ فَأَمَرَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ أَنْ يَتَّخِذَ أَنْفًا مِنْ ذَهَبٍ
AbdurRahman ibn Tarafah said that his grandfather Arfajah ibn As'ad who had his nose cut off at the battle of al-Kilab got a silver nose, but it developed a stench, so the Prophet ﷺ ordered him to get a gold nose.
أَنَّ جَدَّهُ عَرْفَجَةَ بْنَ أَسْعَدَ قُطِعَ أَنْفُهُ يَوْمَ الْكُلاَبِ فَاتَّخَذَ أَنْفًا مِنْ وَرِقٍ فَأَنْتَنَ عَلَيْهِ فَأَمَرَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَاتَّخَذَ أَنْفًا مِنْ ذَهَبٍ
"My nose was severed on the Day of Al-Kulab during Jahiliyyah. So I got a nose of silver which caused an infection for me, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered me to get a node made of gold."
أُصِيبَ أَنْفِي يَوْمَ الْكُلاَبِ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ فَاتَّخَذْتُ أَنْفًا مِنْ وَرِقٍ فَأَنْتَنَ عَلَىَّ فَأَمَرَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنْ أَتَّخِذَ أَنْفًا مِنْ ذَهَبٍ
[Machine] His grandfather, Arfajah, was injured in his nose on the day of Al-Kulab during the pre-Islamic era, so he made a nose out of a leaf, but it decayed. Then the Prophet ﷺ ordered him to make a nose out of gold. Yazeed said, "Abdul Rahman's grandfather said so." It was said to Abu Al-Ashhab, "Did Abdul Rahman's grandfather meet his grandfather?" He said, "Yes."

[Machine] He injured his nose on the day of the dogs, meaning the water they had disputed over during the time of ignorance. So, he mentioned a similar incident and said at the end, "So I took a golden nose as a replacement, but you are not like it."
