[Machine] His grandfather, Arfajah, was injured in his nose on the day of Al-Kulab during the pre-Islamic era, so he made a nose out of a leaf, but it decayed. Then the Prophet ﷺ ordered him to make a nose out of gold. Yazeed said, "Abdul Rahman's grandfather said so." It was said to Abu Al-Ashhab, "Did Abdul Rahman's grandfather meet his grandfather?" He said, "Yes."  

أَنَّ جَدَّهُ عَرْفَجَةَ أُصِيبَ أَنْفُهُ يَوْمَ الْكُلَابِ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ فَاتَّخَذَ أَنْفًا مِنْ وَرِقٍ فَأَنْتَنَ عَلَيْهِ فَأَمَرَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ أَنْ يَتَّخِذَ أَنْفًا مِنْ ذَهَبٍ قَالَ يَزِيدُ فَقِيلَ لِأَبِي الْأَشْهَبِ أَدْرَكَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ جَدَّهُ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ  

[Machine] He suffered a nasal injury on the day of the battle of Al-Kilab during the pre-Islamic era, so he made a nose from a leaf, but it withered. He asked the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ who ordered him to make a nose from gold. It was narrated by Isma'il ibn 'Ulayyah from Abu Al-Ash'hab, from 'Abdul-Rahman, from his father that 'Arfajah informed him of its meaning. Abu 'Ali Al-Rudhbary informed Abu Bakr ibn Dasah, who narrated from Abu Dawud, who narrated from Muamal ibn Hisham, who narrated from Isma'il, who mentioned it.  

أَنَّ أَنْفَهُ أُصِيبَ يَوْمَ الْكِلَابِ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ فَاتَّخَذَ أَنْفًا مِنْ وَرِقٍ فَأَنْتَنَ عَلَيْهِ فَسَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَأَمَرَهُ أَنْ يَتَّخِذَ أَنْفًا مِنْ ذَهَبٍ 4224 وَرَوَاهُ إِسْمَاعِيلُ ابْنُ عُلَيَّةَ عَنْ أَبِي الْأَشْهَبِ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّ عَرْفَجَةَ بِمَعْنَاهُ أَنْبَأَهُ أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الرُّوذْبَارِيُّ أنبأ أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ دَاسَةَ ثنا أَبُو دَاوُدَ ثنا مُؤَمَّلُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ فَذَكَرَهُ
