His nose was cut off at the battle of Al-Kulab during the Jahiliyyah, so he wore a nose made of silver, but it began to rot, so the Prophet [SAW] told him to wear a nose made of gold.  

أَنَّهُ أُصِيبَ أَنْفُهُ يَوْمَ الْكُلاَبِ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ فَاتَّخَذَ أَنْفًا مِنْ وَرِقٍ فَأَنْتَنَ عَلَيْهِ فَأَمَرَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ أَنْ يَتَّخِذَ أَنْفًا مِنْ ذَهَبٍ  

"His nose had been cut off at the battle of Al-Kulab during the Jahiliyyah, so he wore a nose made of silver, but it began to rot on him, so the Prophet [SAW] told him to wear a nose made of gold."  

أُصِيبَ أَنْفُهُ يَوْمَ الْكُلاَبِ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ قَالَ فَاتَّخَذَ أَنْفًا مِنْ فِضَّةٍ فَأَنْتَنَ عَلَيْهِ فَأَمَرَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ أَنْ يَتَّخِذَهُ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ  

AbdurRahman ibn Tarafah said that his grandfather Arfajah ibn As'ad who had his nose cut off at the battle of al-Kilab got a silver nose, but it developed a stench, so the Prophet ﷺ ordered him to get a gold nose.  

أَنَّ جَدَّهُ عَرْفَجَةَ بْنَ أَسْعَدَ قُطِعَ أَنْفُهُ يَوْمَ الْكُلاَبِ فَاتَّخَذَ أَنْفًا مِنْ وَرِقٍ فَأَنْتَنَ عَلَيْهِ فَأَمَرَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَاتَّخَذَ أَنْفًا مِنْ ذَهَبٍ  

"My nose was severed on the Day of Al-Kulab during Jahiliyyah. So I got a nose of silver which caused an infection for me, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered me to get a node made of gold."  

أُصِيبَ أَنْفِي يَوْمَ الْكُلاَبِ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ فَاتَّخَذْتُ أَنْفًا مِنْ وَرِقٍ فَأَنْتَنَ عَلَىَّ فَأَمَرَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنْ أَتَّخِذَ أَنْفًا مِنْ ذَهَبٍ

[Machine] That the Prophet 'sallallahu alaihi wa sallam' got hit in his nose on the day of Uhud, so he took a nose made of leaves, but it irritated him. So the Messenger of Allah 'sallallahu alaihi wa sallam' commanded him to take a nose made of gold.  

أَنَّ عَرْفَجَةَ أُصِيبَ أَنْفُهُ يَوْم الْكُلَابِ فَاتَّخَذَ أنْفًا مِن وَرِقٍ فَأَنْتَنَ عَلَيْه فَأَمَرَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أَنْ يَتَّخِذَ أنْفًا مِن ذَهَبٍ»

أَنَّهُ «أُصِيبَ أَنْفُهُ يَوْمَ الْكِلَابِ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ فَاتَّخَذَ أَنْفًا مِنْ وَرِقٍ فَأَنْتَنَ عَلَيْهِ فَأَمَرَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ أَنْ يَتَّخِذَ أَنْفًا مِنْ ذَهَبٍ»  

[Machine] "It is narrated that his nose was injured on the Day of the Dogs in the pre-Islamic period, so he made a nose from leaves and he used it. He asked the Prophet ﷺ about it, and the Prophet commanded him to make a nose from gold. This was narrated by Yazid ibn Harun from Abu Al-Ash'hab. Then Yazid said, I asked Abu Al-Ash'hab if Abdul Rahman ibn Tarafah, his grandfather, witnessed the Battle of Arfajah? He said yes, Abu Ali Al-Rudhabari informed him. Abu Bakr ibn Dasa narrated it, Abu Dawood Al-Sijistani narrated it, and Hasan ibn Ali ibn Affan narrated it from Yazid ibn Harun, who mentioned him."  

أَنَّهُ أُصِيبَ أَنْفُهُ يَوْمَ الْكِلَابِ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ فَاتَّخَذَ أَنْفًا مِنْ وَرِقٍ فَأَنْتَنَ عَلَيْهِ فَسَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَأَمَرَهُ أَنْ يَتَّخِذَ أَنْفًا مِنْ ذَهَبٍ 4222 وَرَوَاهُ يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ عَنْ أَبِي الْأَشْهَبِ ثُمَّ قَالَ يَزِيدُ قُلْتُ لِأَبِي الْأَشْهَبِ أَدْرَكَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ طَرَفَةَ جَدَّهُ عَرْفَجَةَ؟ فَقَالَ نَعَمْ أَنْبَأَهُ أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الرُّوذْبَارِيُّ أنبأ أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ دَاسَةَ ثنا أَبُو دَاوُدَ السِّجِسْتَانِيُّ ثنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ عَفَّانَ ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ فَذَكَرَهُ
