The Prophet ﷺ said, "When it is a Friday, the angels stand at the gate of the mosque and keep on writing the names of the persons coming to the mosque in succession according to their arrivals. The example of the one who enters the mosque in the earliest hour is that of one offering a camel (in sacrifice). The one coming next is like one offering a cow and then a ram and then a chicken and then an egg respectively. When the Imam comes out (for Jumua prayer) they (i.e. angels) fold their papers and listen to the Khutba."

قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِذَا كَانَ يَوْمُ الْجُمُعَةِ وَقَفَتِ الْمَلاَئِكَةُ عَلَى باب الْمَسْجِدِ يَكْتُبُونَ الأَوَّلَ فَالأَوَّلَ وَمَثَلُ الْمُهَجِّرِ كَمَثَلِ الَّذِي يُهْدِي بَدَنَةً ثُمَّ كَالَّذِي يُهْدِي بَقَرَةً ثُمَّ كَبْشًا ثُمَّ دَجَاجَةً ثُمَّ بَيْضَةً فَإِذَا خَرَجَ الإِمَامُ طَوَوْا صُحُفَهُمْ وَيَسْتَمِعُونَ الذِّكْرَ

The Prophet ﷺ said, "On every Friday the angels take their stand at every gate of the mosque to write the names of the people chronologically (i.e. according to the time of their arrival for the Friday prayer) and when the Imam sits (on the pulpit) they fold up their scrolls and get ready to listen to the sermon."

قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِذَا كَانَ يَوْمُ الْجُمُعَةِ كَانَ عَلَى كُلِّ باب مِنْ أَبْوَابِ الْمَسْجِدِ الْمَلاَئِكَةُ يَكْتُبُونَ الأَوَّلَ فَالأَوَّلَ فَإِذَا جَلَسَ الإِمَامُ طَوَوُا الصُّحُفَ وَجَاءُوا يَسْتَمِعُونَ الذِّكْرَ

And he who comes early is like one who offers a she-camel as a sacrifice, the next like one who offers a cow, the next a ram, the next a hen, the next an egg.

The Prophet ﷺ said: "When Friday comes, the angels sit at the doors of the Masjid and record who comes to Jumu'ah prayers. Then, when the Imam comes out, the angels roll up their scrolls." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'The one who comes early to Jumu'ah prayers is like one who sacrifices a camel, then like one who sacrifices a cow, then like one who sacrifices a sheep, then like one who sacrifices a duck, then like one who sacrifices a chicken, then like one who sacrifices an egg."

[AI] "When it was the day of Friday, the Prophet ﷺ would have angels stationed at every door of the mosque, recording the names of the early comers. When the Imam came out (to deliver the sermon), the records were folded."

النَّبِيَّ ﷺ إِذَا كَانَ يَوْمُ الْجُمُعَةِ كَانَ عَلَى كُلِّ بَابٍ مِنْ أَبْوَابِ الْمَسْجِدِ مَلَائِكَةٌ يَكْتُبُونَ الْأَوَّلَ فَالْأَوَّلَ فَإِذَا خَرَجَ الْإِمَامُ طُوِيَتِ الصُّحُفُ

[AI] On the authority of Abu Huraira, and Ya'qub did not mention Abu Salama, Abdullah ibn Ahmad reported that his father said: Yunus narrated to us from Al-Agharr, and Abu Salama narrated from Abu Huraira, from the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , that he said: "When it is Friday, there are angels at every door of the mosque writing down the names of those who come first, so the first is the first. When the Imam sits down (on the pulpit), they close their sheets and come to listen to the reminder."

عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ يَعْقُوبُ أَبَا سَلَمَةَ [قَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ] قَالَ أَبِي حَدَّثَنَاهُ يُونُسُ عَنِ الْأَغَرِّ وَأَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا كَانَ يَوْمُ الْجُمُعَةِ كَانَ عَلَى كُلِّ بَابٍ مِنْ أَبْوَابِ الْمَسْجِدِ مَلَائِكَةٌ يَكْتُبُونَ الْأَوَّلَ فَالْأَوَّلَ فَإِذَا جَلَسَ الْإِمَامُ طَوَوُا الصُّحُفَ وَجَاءُوا فَاسْتَمَعُوا الذِّكْرَ

[AI] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ , he said: "When the day of Friday comes, the angels stand at the doors of the mosque and they write down the order of the creation (i.e. who comes first and so on). The emigrant (i.e. the one who comes from far away) is like the one who offers a camel, then like the one who offers a cow, then like the one who offers a ram, then like the one who offers a chicken, then like the one who offers an egg. When the Imam comes out and sits on the pulpit, they roll up their records and sit listening attentively to the sermon."

عَن أبي عَبد الله الأغر مولى جهينة عَن أبي هُرَيرة؛ أَنَّ النَّبِيّ ﷺ قَالَ إذا كان يوم الجمعة أَحسَبُهُ قال ملائكة على أبواب المسجد يكتبون الناس من جاء أولا فأول فإذا خرج الإمام طويت الصحف وجاؤُوا فاستمعوا الذكر

قَالَ قَالَ رَسُول اللهِ ﷺ إذا كان يوم الجمعة كان على كل باب من أبواب المسجد ملائكة يكتبون الأول فالأول

[AI] Narrated the messenger of Allah ﷺ , "When it is Friday, angels are present at every door of the mosque recording the order of arrival."

When the Imam comes out, they close their records and listen to the reminder."

"تُبعَثُ المَلائِكَةُ يَومَ الجُمُعَةِ إِلَى أَبْوَاب المَسْجدِ، يَكْتُبُونَ الأوَّلَ فَالأوَّلَ، فإذَا مَا صَعِدَ الإِمَامُ عَلَى المِنْبَر طُويَتِ الصُّحُفُ".
