9. Book of Ṣalāh (2/30)
[Machine] "This is our prayer with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and Abu Bakr and Umar, may Allah be pleased with them. When Umar was martyred, Uthman took charge of it, may Allah be pleased with him."
[Machine] "The Prophet of Allah ﷺ came with Zaid ibn Thabit at sahoor (pre-dawn meal), and when the Prophet of Allah ﷺ finished his sahoor, he stood up for the Fajr prayer. We asked Anas ibn Malik how much time passed between his completion of sahoor and the beginning of his prayer. He replied, 'It was the time it takes for a man to recite fifty verses.'"
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ would say the Fajr prayer after which the women would depart wrapped up their woolen garments, being unrecognizable because of the darkness before dawn. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 423)
[Machine] She said, "There were indeed women among the believers who used to pray with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, covered in their outer garments, during the Fajr (dawn) prayer. Then they would return to their homes without being recognized due to their simplicity."
[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray the Fajr prayer, and then the believing women would exit covered in their veils, and it could not be recognized who they were due to the darkness."
[Machine] Narrated by al-Qa'nabiyyu, from Malik, from Yahya ibn Sa'id, from 'Amrah, from 'A'ishah who said: "If the Prophet ﷺ used to pray the morning prayer, the women would leave covered in their cloaks, not recognized from the darkness."
We were praying Zuhr with the Messenger of Allah at the time of intense heat (i.e., midday when the sun has just passed its zenith) and he said to us, "Wait for it to cool down before you pray, for intense heat is from the flaring up of the Hell-fire." (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 680)
"The Messenger of Allah said: 'When it is very hot, then wait for it to cool down before you pray, for intense heat is from the flaring up of the Hell-fire.'" (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 677)
"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'If it is very hot, wait until it cools down before you pray, for intense heat is a breeze from Hell.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 500)
[Machine] Abu Dharr heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying: "We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during a journey and the Muadhin intended to call the Adhan for Dhur prayer. The Prophet ﷺ told him, 'Cool down.' Then he intended to call the Adhan again and the Prophet ﷺ told him, 'Cool down' two or three times until we saw the shadow of a hillock. The Prophet ﷺ then said, 'Indeed, the intense heat is a portion of the Hellfire. So when it is extremely hot, cool yourselves with prayer.'"
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: When it is hot, make delay (in the noon prayer) till it cools down, for the intensity of beat is from the Exhalation of Hell; and he also mentioned that Hellfire complained to the Lord (about the congested atmosphere) and so it was permitted to take two exhalations during the whole year, one exhalation during the winter and one exhalation during the summer. (Using translation from Muslim 617b)
[Machine] We used to pray with the Prophet ﷺ on Fridays, and there was no shade available for the walls.
We used to observe the Friday prayer with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when the sun passed the meridian. and we then returned and tried to find out afternoon shadow (of the walls for protecting themselves from the heat of the sun). (Using translation from Muslim 860a)
"We used to pray Jumu'ah with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ then we would go back and tend to our camels." I said: " At what time?" He said: "When the sun had passed its zenith." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1390)
[Machine] Anas said, "I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ praying like this, so I will never abandon it."
[Machine] I heard Rafi' ibn Khadij saying, "We used to pray Asr prayer with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, then the camels would be slaughtered and divided into ten parts, then they would be cooked. We would eat well-cooked meat before the sunset. And we used to pray Maghrib prayer during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, then one of us would leave and he would look at the place of his spear."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed the Asr prayer with us, and when he finished, a man from the Banu Salimah approached him and said, "O Messenger of Allah, we want to slaughter a sheep and we would love for you to be present." The Prophet ﷺ replied, "Yes." So he left and we went with him. We found the sheep, but it had not been slaughtered yet. It was slaughtered, then it was cut into pieces, cooked, and we ate it before the sun set.
Anas b. Malik said the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to say the 'Asr prayer when the sun was high and bright and living, then one would go off to al-'Awali and get there while the sun was still high. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 404)
The Messenger of Allah used to pray 'Asr when the sun was still hot and high, and if a person were to go to the suburbs (of Al-Madinah) he would be able to reach it while the sun was still hot and high. (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 682)
[Machine] "The Prophet ﷺ used to pray the Asr prayer while the sun was still high and radiant. Then, he would go to Al-Awali and the sun would still be high."
It was narrated from 'Aishah that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed 'Asr when the sun was in her room and the shadow had not appeared on her wall. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 505)
Anas b. Malik said the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to say the 'Asr prayer when the sun was high and bright and living, then one would go off to al-'Awali and get there while the sun was still high. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 404)
Salama b. al-Akwa' reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray the evening prayer when the sun had set and disappeared (behind the horizon). (Using translation from Muslim 636)
'Mu'adh bin Jabal would pray Al-Maghrib with the Messenger of Allah, then he would return to his people to lead them (in prayer)." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 583)
"A man came to the Prophet and asked him about the times of the prayer. He said: 'Pray with us for two days.' When the sun passed its zenith he commanded Bilal to call the Adhan, then he commanded him to give the Iqamah for Zuhr; then he commanded him to give the Iqamah for 'Asr when the sun was high and clearly white. Then he commanded him to give the Iqamah for Maghrib when the sun had set; then he commanded him to give the Iqamah for 'Isha' when the red afterglow had disappeared; then he commanded him to give the Iqamah for Fajr when dawn came. On the following day he commanded him to give the Adhan for Zuhr when the extreme heat had passed and it had cooled down; then he prayed 'Asr when the sun was still high, but he delayed it more than he had done the day before; then he prayed Maghrib before the red afterglow disappeared; he prayed 'Isha' when one-third of the night had passed; and he prayed Fajr at the time when it was already light. Then he said: 'Where is the one who was asking about the times of Prayer?' The man said: 'Here I am, O Messenger of Allah.' He said: 'The times of your prayer are between the times you have seen.'" (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 667)
"I am the most knowledgeable among the people about the prescribed time of this prayer: Messenger of Allah would pray it when the moon set on the third (of the month)." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 165)
"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to delay the later 'Isha'."[1] [1] It is described as the later 'Isha' prayer because the Maghrib prayer is sometimes called 'Isha' prayer, but it is the first 'Isha'. Some scholars are of the opinion that it is disliked to call Maghrib 'Isha' without qualifying it as the first 'Isha'. See Fath Al-Bari. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 533)
[Machine] About the prayer of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , he said, "He used to pray Dhuhr when the sun moves away, and Asr when the sun is still vivid, and Maghrib when the sun sets, and sometimes he would del ayy it, and sometimes he would delay it. When people came, he would hasten it, and when they did not come, he would delay it. And they used to pray Fajr in thick darkness."

Indeed, you are in a prayer that you have been waiting for." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ deferred one night the 'Isya' prayer. And this is called 'Atama. And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not come out till Umar b. Khattab told (him) that the women and children had gone to sleep. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out towards them and said to the people of the mosque: None except you from the people of the earth waits for it (for the night prayer at this late hour), and it was before Islam had spread amongst people. And in the narration transmitted by Ibn Shihab the Messenger of Allah ﷺ is reported to have said: It is not meant that you should compel the Messenger of Allah ﷺ for prayer. And (this he said) when 'Umar b. Khattab called (the Holy Prophet) in a loud voice. (Using translation from Muslim 638a)
