9. Book of Ṣalāh (5/30)
The Messenger of Allah( may peace be upon him) used to teach us the tashahhud as he would teach us the Qur’an, and would say: The blessed adoration of the tongue, acts of worship (and) all good things are due to Allah. Peace be upon you, O Prophet, and Allah’s mercy and His blessings. Peace be upon us and upon Allah’s upright servants. I testify that there is no god but Allah, and I testify that Muhammad is Allah’s apostle (peace be upon him). (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 974)
when we (prayed and) sat up during prayer along the Messenger of Allah (may peach be upon him), we said: “Peace be to Allah before it is supplicated for His servants; peace be to so and so. “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Do not say “Peace be to Allah ,”for Allah Himself is peace. When one of you sits(during the prayer), he should say: The adoration of the tongue are due to Allah, and acts of worship and all good things. Peace be upon you, O Prophet, and Allah’s mercy and His blessings. Peace be upon us and upon Allah’s upright servants. When you say that, it reaches every upright servant in heavens and earth or between heavens and earth. I testify that there is no god but Allah, and I testify that Muhammad is His servant and apostle. Then he may choose any supplication which pleases him and offer it. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 968)

[Machine] "We used to not know what to say in prayer until the Prophet ﷺ taught us to say, 'Peace be upon Allah, peace be upon Jibril, peace be upon Mika'il.' Then he taught us to say, 'The greetings are for Allah, and the prayers and good deeds. Peace be upon you, O Prophet, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. Peace be upon us and upon the righteous servants of Allah.' Abu Wail reported in his hadith from Abdullah that the Prophet ﷺ said, 'When you say it, it reaches every righteous servant in the heavens and on the earth.' And Abu Ishaq reported in his hadith from Abdullah that the Prophet ﷺ said, 'When you say it, it reaches every near and distant servant, prophetic messenger, or righteous servant. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and messenger.'"

[Machine] Narrated Abu Mas'ud:
A man came and sat in front of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, we know how to send greetings upon you, but how should we pray for you when we are already praying in our own prayers? Allah sends His blessings upon you, so how should we send blessings upon you?" The Prophet ﷺ remained silent until we wished that the man had not asked him. Then he said, "When you pray, say: 'O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad, the Prophet who cannot read or write, and upon the family of Muhammad, as You sent blessings upon Ibrahim, and upon the family of Ibrahim. And bless Muhammad, the Prophet who cannot read or write, and the family of Muhammad, as You blessed Ibrahim and the family of Ibrahim. Verily, You are full of praise and majesty.'"

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ heard a person supplicating during prayer. He did not mention the greatness of Allah, nor did he invoke blessings on the Prophet ﷺ. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: He made haste. He then called him and said either to him or to any other person: If any of you prays, he should mention the exaltation of his Lord in the beginning and praise Him; he should then invoke blessings on the Prophet ﷺ; thereafter he should supplicate Allah for anything he wishes. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1481)

Peace be upon you, O Prophet, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. Peace be upon us and upon the righteous servants of Allah. Zuhayr said, 'I memorized it from Al-Hasan's handwriting and he narrated it from his memory. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and messenger.' Zuhayr said, 'Then I went back to my own memorization and said, 'When you say this, you have completed your prayer. If you want to stand up, then stand up, and if you want to sit, then sit.'"

I bear witness that there is no deity except Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.' Abdullah ibn Mas'ud said, 'Once you finish this, you have completed your prayer. If you wish, you may stay seated, and if you wish, you may depart.'"

The adoration of the tongue are due to Allah, and acts of worship, all good things. Peace be upon you, O Prophet, and Allah’s mercy and His blessings. Ibn ‘Umar said: I added: “And Allah’s blessings, peace be upon us, and upon Allah’s upright servants. I testify that there is not god but Allah. “Ibn ‘Umar said: I added to it: He is alone, no one is His associate, and I testify that Muhammad is His servant and His Apostle. When the Prophet ﷺ uttered salutation at the end of the prayer, he used to say: "O Allah, forgive me my former and latter sins, what I have kept secret and what I have done openly, and what I have done extravagance; and what You know better than I do. You are the Advancer, the Delayer, there is no god but You." (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1509)

When one of you finishes the last tashahhud, he should seek refuge in Allah from four things: the punishment in Hell, the punishment in the grave, the trail of life and death, and the evil of Antichrist. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 983)

Aishah told him that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to say the following supplication in his prayer: Allahumma inni audhu bika min 'adhab ilqabri wa 'audhu bika min fitnatil-masihid-dajjal, wa 'audhu bika min fitnatil-mahya walmamati, Allahumma inni 'audhu bika min al-ma'thami wal-maghram ( O Allah, I seek refuge with You from the torment of the grave, and I seek refuge in You from the tribulation of the Al-Masihid-Dajjal, and I seek refuge with You from the trials of life and death. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from sin and debt.) Someone said to him: "How often you seek refuge from debt!" He said: "If a man gets into debt, when he speaks lies, and when he makes a promise, he betrays it." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1309)

(When) Messenger of Allah ﷺ (wished to invoke curse or blessing on someone, he would do so at the end) of the recitation in the dawn prayer, when he had pronounced Allah-o-Akbar (for bending) and then lifted his head (saying):" Allah listened to him who praised Him; our Lord! to Thee is all praise" ; he would then stand up and say:" Rescue al-Walid b. Walid, Salama b. Hisham, and 'Ayyash b. Abd Rabi'a, and the helpless among the Muslims. O Allah! trample severely Mudar and cause them a famine (which broke out at the time) of Joseph. O Allah! curse Lihyan, Ri'l, Dhakwan, 'Usayya, for they disobeyed Allah and His Messenger." (The narrator then adds): The news reached us that he abandoned (this) when this verse was revealed:" Thou but no concern in the matter whether He turns to them (mercifully) or chastises them; surely they are wrongdoers" (ill. 127) (Using translation from Muslim 675a)

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ whispered something we did not understand, so he said, "Did you understand me?" We said, "Yes." He said, "I mentioned a prophet among the prophets who was given troops from his people. He said, 'Who will fight for these people?' So Allah revealed to him to choose one of three: either to subject them to the attack of an enemy from outside, or to cause them to suffer from famine, or to afflict them with death. So he consulted his people about this, and they said, 'You are the Messenger of Allah; decide for us.' He then stood up for prayer, and whenever they were distressed, they would hasten to prayer. He prayed as Allah willed, then he said, 'O Lord, as for their enemy, let it not be something other than themselves; as for famine, let it not be upon them; but afflict them with death for three days.' Seventy thousand of them died. What I whispered to you is that I said, 'O Allah, I fight and strive with Your help, and there is no power or strength except with Allah.'"

When he finished praying we said: 'O Messenger of Allah, we heard you say something in your prayer that we have never heard you say before, and we saw you stretch out your hand.' He said: 'The enemy of Allah (SWT), Iblis, came with a brand of fire to throw it in my face, so I said: I seek refuge with Allah from you three times, then I wanted to take hold of him.
