43. Book of Impermissible and Permissible (5/7)
The worst amongst the people is the double-faced one; he comes to some people with one face and to others with the other face. (Using translation from Muslim 2526c)
[Machine] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ , he said, "Whoever has two faces in this world will have two tongues of fire on the Day of Resurrection."
You would find people like those of mine, the good amongst you in the Days of Ignorance would be good amongst you in the days of Islam, provided they have an understanding of it and you will find good amongst people the persons who would be averse to position of authority until it is thrust upon them, and you will find the worst amongst persons one who has double face. He comes with one face to them and with the other face to the others. (Using translation from Muslim 2526a)

Do you know what is backbiting? They (the Companions) said: Allah and His Messenger know best. Thereupon he (the Holy Prophet) said: Backbiting implies your talking about your brother in a manner which he does not like. It was said to him: What is your opinion about this that if I actually find (that failing) in my brother which I made a mention of? He said: If (that failing) is actually found (in him) what you assert, you in fact backbited him, and if that is not in him it is a slander. (Using translation from Muslim 2589)

He said that Abū Dardāʾ said, “Muʿāwiyah heard ˹this˺ statement from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and Allah benefited him by it.”

“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ascended the Minbar and called out with a raised voice: ’O you who accepted Islam with his tongue, while faith has not reached his heart! Do not harm the Muslims, nor revile them, nor spy on them to expose their secrets. For indeed whoever tries to expose his Muslims brother’s secrets, Allah exposes his secrets wide open, even if he were in the depth of his house.’” He (Nafl’) said: ‘ One day Ibn ‘Umar looked at the House- or – the Ka’bah and said: ‘What is it that is more honored than you, and whose honor is more sacred than yours! And the believer’s honor is more sacred to Allah than yours.’” (Using translation from Tirmidhī 2032)

Because of His jealousy Allah has prohibited abomination, both open and secret And no person is more jealous of his honour than Allah, and no persons, is more fond of accepting an excuse than Allah, on account of which He has sent messengers, announcers of glad tidings and warners; and no one is more fond of praise than Allah on account of which Allah has promised Paradise. And in the narration of Abu Kuraib (the words are): He flogs like a slave and then comforts his bed with the help of that at the end of the day, and he then advised in regard to laughing of people at the breaking of wind and said: One of you laughs at that which you yourself do. When two men who came from the east made a speech and the people were charmed with their eloquence, the Messenger of Allah (May peace be upon him) said: In some eloquent speech there is magic. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 5007)

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "And what prevents you from granting permission to your uncle?" She replied, "O Messenger of Allah, it was not him who breastfed me, it was his wife who breastfed me." He ﷺ said: "He is your uncle, grant him permission, for your right thigh is Haram to him."
