43. Book of Impermissible and Permissible (4/7)
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ as saying: If anyone swears on oath is the course which he says: "By al-Lat" he should say: There is no god but Allah, and that if anyone says to his friend: Come and let me play for money with you, he should give something in charity (sadaqah). (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 3247)
[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) say, "Indeed, a person may utter a word, without seeing any harm in it, that causes them to fall into the Fire for seventy autumns."
The servant speaks words for which he is sent down to the Hell-Fire farther than the distance between the east and the west. (Using translation from Muslim 2988a)
The servant speaks words for which he is sent down to the Hell-Fire farther than the distance between the east and the west. (Using translation from Muslim 2988a)
[Machine] "They had titles in the era of ignorance, so the messenger of Allah called a man by his title. It was said, 'O messenger of Allah, he dislikes being called by that title.' So Allah revealed, 'And do not insult one another by nicknames. Wretched is the name of disobedience after [one's] faith.'"
"He (the Prophet) said, 'The Ansar used to give in charity and provide whatever Allah willed, until difficulties befell them. So they refrained from doing so. Then Allah revealed, 'And spend in the way of Allah and do not throw [yourselves] with your [own] hands into destruction [by refraining]. And do good; indeed, Allah loves the doers of good.'"
[Machine] "From the Prophet ﷺ who said: "None of you should say, 'May Allah disfigure your face and the face of those who resemble you', for indeed Allah created Adam in His own image."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "A man said, 'By Allah, Allah will not forgive so-and-so.' Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, then said, 'I have indeed forgiven so-and-so and nullified your deeds.'"
[Machine] I entered the mosque of the Prophet ﷺ and there I saw an elderly man with a white beard. He had a radiant face and was accompanied by a handsome young man. The elderly man said, "O Yamamyy, come here. Never say to a person, 'May Allah never forgive you,' for by Allah, Allah will never admit you into Paradise. I asked, "And who are you? May Allah have mercy on you." He said, "I am Abu Huraira." I said, "Indeed, these are words that one of us may say to his family or his servant when angry." He said, "Do not say it. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'There were two men from the children of Israel who were close to each other. One of them was diligent in worship while the other one was a sinner. The diligent one saw the sinner committing a sin and told him to stop. The sinner replied, 'Leave me alone, I beg you, by my Lord.' The diligent one repeated his advice, but the sinner continued to say, 'Leave me alone, I beg you, by my Lord,' until he found him one day committing a sin that overwhelmed him. The diligent one said, 'Woe to you, stop!' The sinner replied, 'Leave me alone, I beg you, by my Lord. Were you appointed as a watcher over me?' The diligent one said, 'By Allah, Allah will never forgive you or admit you into Paradise.' Then an angel was sent to them, who took their souls. They were brought in the presence of Allah, the Most High. He said, 'My servants, to the diligent one, were you a knowledgeable person or did you have the power to do what was in my hands? Or did you prevent my mercy from reaching my slave?' Then Allah commanded, 'Take the diligent one to Paradise and throw the sinner into the Fire.'" I swear by Allah in whose hand is my soul, that a single word could cause his worldly life and hereafter to be ruined."

None of you should say: Woe be upon the Time, for verily Allah is the Time. (Using translation from Muslim 2246d)
I heard Messenger of Allah ﷺ as saying: Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, said: The son of Adam abuses Dahr (the time), whereas I am Dahr since in My hand are the day and the night. (Using translation from Muslim 2246a)
[Machine] "The people of ignorance used to say, 'It is only the night and day that destroy us; it is they who kill us and give us life.' Allah says, 'It is merely our worldly life'."
[Machine] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ , he said, "Verily, a person may utter a word that makes those present laugh, but he falls into the depths of Hellfire by it, farther than the distance between the Pleiades."
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "The most truthful part of a person's speech and the worst part of it are what is between his jaws." Wahb (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "He means his tongue."
[Machine] I heard Ibn Umar say, "Two men from the east stood up to give a speech, and then they sat down. Then Thabit bin Qays, the orator of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , stood up and spoke. They were amazed by his speech. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up and delivered a sermon. He said, 'O people, speak what you have to say, for the division of speech is from Satan. Indeed, clarity in speech is a kind of magic.'"
[Machine] That you write to me about something you heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , so he wrote to him: "I heard him say: 'Verily, Allah hates for you three things: gossiping, excessive questioning, and wasting wealth.'"
Ibn 'Ulayyah said, "Wasting wealth is spending it in an unjust manner."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, Allah dislikes for you gossiping, spreading rumors, excessive questioning, and wasting wealth."
“The stronger believer is better and more beloved to Allah than the weak believer, although both are good. Strive to seek that which will benefit you and do not feel helpless. If something overwhelms you, then say: Qaddarallah, wa ma sha'a fa’al (It is the decree of Allah and what He wills He does). And beware of (saying) ‘If only,’ for ‘If only’ opens the door to Satan.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 4168)
"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'The strong believer is better and more beloved to Allah than the weak believer, although both are good. Strive for that which will benefit you, seek the help of Allah, and do not feel helpless. If anything befalls you, do not say, "if only I had done such and such" rather say "Qaddara Allahu wa ma sha'a fa'ala (Allah has decreed and whatever he wills, He does)." For (saying) 'If' opens (the door) to the deeds of Satan.'" (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 79)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "One of you should not say, 'I have sown,' but rather, he should say, 'I have cultivated.'" Abu Hurairah said, "Have you not heard the saying of Allah, the Most Blessed and Exalted, 'Have you seen what you cultivate? Is it you who cause it to grow, or are We the cause of growth?'"
The Prophet ﷺ said, "None of you should say Khabuthat Nafsi, but he is recommended to say 'Laqisat Nafsi." (Using translation from Bukhārī 6179)
[Machine] "A man among the companions of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ saw in his dream that he met a group of Jews, and their appearance amazed him. He said to them, 'You are a people who claim that Uzair (Ezra) is the son of Allah.' They replied, 'And you are a people who claim that whatever Allah wills and Muhammad wills happens.' Then he met a group of Christians, and their appearance amazed him. He said to them, 'You are a people who claim that Jesus is the son of Allah.' They replied, 'And you are a people who claim that whatever Allah wills and Muhammad wills happens.' When he woke up, he narrated this to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ who said, 'I used to hear this from you and it harmed me. So, do not say, "Whatever Allah wills and Muhammad wills".'"
[Machine] Narrated Abu Hurairah: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The one who initiates the argument bears the burden of proof as long as the oppressed person does not transgress."

When two persons indulge in hurling (abuses) upon one another, it would be the first one who would be the sinner so long as the oppressed does not transgress the limits. (Using translation from Muslim 2587)

When a man who had drunk wine was brought to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, he said: Beat him. Abu Hurairah said: Some struck him with their hands, some with their garment. When he turned his face, some people said: Allah put you shame! The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Do not say like that and help the devil to get power over him. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4477)

I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: The wind comes from Allah's mercy. Salamah's version has: It is Allah's mercy; it (sometimes) brings blessing and (sometimes) brings punishment. So when you see it, do not revile it, but ask Allah for some of its good, and seek refuge in Allah from its evil. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 5097)

[Machine] The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: "Ibrahim (Abraham) never lied except on three occasions. Two of them were in regards to Allah. The first was when he said, 'Indeed, I am sick' and the second was when he said, 'Rather, it was done by this biggest of them.' Ibrahim passed by a tyrant ruler accompanied by his wife, Sarah. It was said to the ruler, 'There is a man here with the most beautiful woman among the people.' So he sent for him, and when Ibrahim came to him, the ruler asked him and Ibrahim told him she was his sister. Then, the ruler came to her and said, 'Indeed, he has told me about you, that you are his sister, and indeed I married you off to him, so do not lie to me.' She said, 'Indeed, this man is my brother. He told you the truth, for indeed I am his sister in the Book of Allah, so do not accuse me of lying.' When he saw her, Ibrahim said, 'Indeed, this man is a great tyrant.' Sarah supplicated to Allah, so the ruler was affected and said, 'Pray to Allah for me and for you, and I promise you that I will never harm you again.' So Sarah prayed for him and he was cured. Then he came to her again but she was taken in a more severe way than the first time. Ibrahim said the same as he said before, and Sarah said the same as she said before. When he saw her, Ibrahim said, 'Indeed, this man is a great tyrant.' Sarah supplicated to Allah, so the ruler was affected and said, 'Pray to Allah for me and for you, and I promise you that I will never harm you again.' So Sarah prayed for him and he was cured. Then he came to her a third time, and she was taken in an even more severe way than the previous times. Ibrahim said the same as he said before, and Sarah said the same as she said before. When he saw her, Ibrahim said, 'Indeed, this man is a great tyrant.' Sarah supplicated to Allah, so the ruler was affected and said, 'Pray to Allah for me and for you, and I promise you that I will never harm you again.' So she prayed for him and he was cured. Then, he sent for Ibrahim and said to him, 'You did not bring a human being to me. Rather, you have brought me a devil.' So Hajar said, 'Enough of Allah's evil upon the disbelievers and the sinful. Ibrahim's mother, Hajar'." Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, used to say when narrating this Hadith: "That was your mother, O Sons of the water of the sky." The insignificant person lengthened the sound of the 'N' in it."

He said, "O people, give charity." Then he left and passed by the women and said, "O group of women, give charity, for I have seen that you are the majority of the people of Hellfire." They asked, "Why is that, O Messenger of Allah?" He said, "You curse frequently and are ungrateful to your husbands. I have not seen anyone more deficient in intelligence and religious commitment than you. A cautious wise man may be led astray by some of you." They asked, "O Messenger of Allah, what is deficient in our intelligence and religious commitment?" He said, "Is not the testimony of a woman equivalent to half of that of a man?" They replied in the affirmative. He said, "This is due to the deficiency in her intelligence. Is it not true that when a woman menstruates, she does not pray nor fast?" They replied in the affirmative. He said, "This is due to the deficiency in her religion." Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ left and when he reached his house, Zainab, the wife of Abdullah ibn Mas'ud sought permission to see him. They said, "O Messenger of Allah, here is Zainab seeking permission to see you." He asked, "Which Zainab?" They replied, "The wife of Abdullah ibn Mas'ud." He said, "Grant her permission." So they allowed her to enter and she said, "O Prophet of Allah, you commanded us today to give charity and I had adornments with me that I wanted to give in charity. However, Abdullah ibn Mas'ud and his children claim that they have more right to receive my charity." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Give charity to Abdullah ibn Mas'ud and his children."

[Machine] Abdul Malik used to send to Umm Darda. She said, "And perhaps he would stay with him (Abdul Malik)." Abdul Malik then called a servant who was slow in coming to him, so he prayed, "O Allah, curse him." Umm Darda said, "Do not curse him, for I heard Abu Darda narrating from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that he said: 'Indeed, those who curse others will not be witnesses or intermediaries on the Day of Resurrection.'"

He heard the Prophet ﷺ, when he raised his head in the last rak'ah of the subh prayer, say: "O Allah, curse so-and-so and so-and-so," supplicating against some of the hypocrites. Then Allah revealed the words: "Not for you is the decision; whether He turns in mercy to (pardon) them or punishes them; verily, they are the wrongdoers." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1078)

" Six are cursed, being cursed by Allah and by every Prophet that came: The one who adds to Allah's Book, the one who denies Allah's Qadar, the one who rules with tyranny by which he honors whom Allah has debased, and he dishonors whom Allah has honored, and the one who legalizes what Allah forbade, and the one from my family who legalizes what Allah forbade, and the abandoner of my Sunnah." [Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "There will be in the latter part of my nation men who ride on saddles like skeletons of men; they will enter the doors of mosques. Their women will be clothed and yet naked, with their hair disheveled. Curse them, for they are cursed. If they die, do not offer the funeral prayer for them, nor bury them in Muslim graveyards, for they are disbelievers."
