"One who brings peace between people is not a liar, he says something good, or reports something good." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 1938)

ibnhibban:5734Abū Yaʿlá > Isḥāq b. Ismāʿīl al-Ṭālaqānī > Rawḥ b. ʿUbādah > Shuʿbah > Yazīd b. Khumayr > Sulaym b. ʿĀmir > Awsaṭ b. Ismāʿīl > Abū Bakr al-Ṣiddīq

the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "You must be truthful, for it leads to righteousness and they are both in Paradise. And beware of dishonesty, for it leads to wickedness and they are both in the Hellfire." (Using translation from Ṭabarānī 17005)

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Indeed, lying darkens the face and spreading gossip is a punishment in the grave."

ibnhibban:5736ʿUmar b. Muḥammad al-Hamdānī > Muḥammad b. ʿAbd al-Malik b. Zanjūwayh > ʿAbd al-Razzāq > Maʿmar > Ayyūb > Ibn Abū Mulaykah > ʿĀʾishah

"There was no behavior more hated to the Messenger of Allah than lying. A man would lie in narrating something in the presence of the Prophet, and he would not be content until he knew that he had repented." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 1973)

[Machine] The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: "Ibrahim (Abraham) never lied except on three occasions. Two of them were in regards to Allah. The first was when he said, 'Indeed, I am sick' and the second was when he said, 'Rather, it was done by this biggest of them.' Ibrahim passed by a tyrant ruler accompanied by his wife, Sarah. It was said to the ruler, 'There is a man here with the most beautiful woman among the people.' So he sent for him, and when Ibrahim came to him, the ruler asked him and Ibrahim told him she was his sister. Then, the ruler came to her and said, 'Indeed, he has told me about you, that you are his sister, and indeed I married you off to him, so do not lie to me.' She said, 'Indeed, this man is my brother. He told you the truth, for indeed I am his sister in the Book of Allah, so do not accuse me of lying.' When he saw her, Ibrahim said, 'Indeed, this man is a great tyrant.' Sarah supplicated to Allah, so the ruler was affected and said, 'Pray to Allah for me and for you, and I promise you that I will never harm you again.' So Sarah prayed for him and he was cured. Then he came to her again but she was taken in a more severe way than the first time. Ibrahim said the same as he said before, and Sarah said the same as she said before. When he saw her, Ibrahim said, 'Indeed, this man is a great tyrant.' Sarah supplicated to Allah, so the ruler was affected and said, 'Pray to Allah for me and for you, and I promise you that I will never harm you again.' So Sarah prayed for him and he was cured. Then he came to her a third time, and she was taken in an even more severe way than the previous times. Ibrahim said the same as he said before, and Sarah said the same as she said before. When he saw her, Ibrahim said, 'Indeed, this man is a great tyrant.' Sarah supplicated to Allah, so the ruler was affected and said, 'Pray to Allah for me and for you, and I promise you that I will never harm you again.' So she prayed for him and he was cured. Then, he sent for Ibrahim and said to him, 'You did not bring a human being to me. Rather, you have brought me a devil.' So Hajar said, 'Enough of Allah's evil upon the disbelievers and the sinful. Ibrahim's mother, Hajar'." Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, used to say when narrating this Hadith: "That was your mother, O Sons of the water of the sky." The insignificant person lengthened the sound of the 'N' in it."

I have a co-wife. Is there any harm for me if I give her the false impression (of getting something from my husband which he has not in fact given me)? Thereupon Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: The one who creates such a (false impression) of receiving what one has not been given is like one who wears the garment of falsehood. (Using translation from Muslim 2130a)

[Machine] A woman came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, I have a damage. Would I be held accountable if I took from my husband's wealth that he did not give me?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, the one who is satisfied with what he is not given is like someone who wears two false garments."
