The Prophet ﷺ said: Make a mention of the virtues of your dead, and refrain from (mentioning) their evils.

قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ غَرِيبٌ سَمِعْتُ مُحَمَّدًا يَقُولُ عِمْرَانُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ الْمَكِّيُّ مُنْكَرُ الْحَدِيثِ وَرَوَى بَعْضُهُمْ عَنْ عَطَاءٍ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَ وَعِمْرَانُ بْنُ أَبِي أَنَسٍ مِصْرِيٌّ أَقْدَمُ وَأَثْبَتُ مِنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ أَنَسٍ الْمَكِّيِّ

هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحُ الْإِسْنَادِ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ وَهَذِهِ الْأَحَادِيثُ وَجَدْتُهَا فِي الْبَابِ بَعْدَ نَقْلِ كِتَابِ الْجَنَائِزِ وَسَبِيلُهَا أَنْ تَكُونَ مُخَرَّجَةً فِي مَوَاضِعِهَا قَبْلَ هَذَا

ذِكْرُ الْبَيَانِ بِأَنَّ قَوْلَهُ ﷺ «فَدَعُوهُ» أَرَادَ بِهِ عَنْ ذِكْرِ مَسَاوِئِهِ دُونَ مَحَاسِنَهُ
