abudawud:2881Mūsá b. Ismāʿīl > Ḥammād > Hishām from his father > ʿĀʾishah > Āmraʾah

A woman said: Messenger of Allah, my mother suddenly died; if it had not happened, she would have given sadaqah (charity) and donated (something). Will it suffice if I give sadaqah on her behalf? The Prophet ﷺ said: Yes, give sadaqah on her behalf.  

أبو داود:٢٨٨١حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ عَنْ هِشَامٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ أَنَّ امْرَأَةً قَالَتْ

يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ أُمِّيَ افْتُلِتَتْ نَفْسُهَا وَلَوْلاَ ذَلِكَ لَتَصَدَّقَتْ وَأَعْطَتْ أَفَيُجْزِئُ أَنْ أَتَصَدَّقَ عَنْهَا فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ نَعَمْ فَتَصَدَّقِي عَنْهَا

My mother died all of a sudden, and I think if she (could have the opportunity) to speak she would have (made a will) regarding Sadaqa'. Will I be entitled to reward if I give charity on her behalf? He (the Holy Prophet) said: Yes.

"My mother died unexpectedly; if she had been able to speak she would have given charity. Should I give charity on her behalf?" The Messenger of Allah said: "Yes." So he gave charity on her behalf.  

النسائي:٣٦٤٩أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ الْقَاسِمِ عَنْ مَالِكٍ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ أَنَّ رَجُلاً قَالَ

لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِنَّ أُمِّي افْتُلِتَتْ نَفْسُهَا وَإِنَّهَا لَوْ تَكَلَّمَتْ تَصَدَّقَتْ أَفَأَتَصَدَّقُ عَنْهَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ نَعَمْ فَتَصَدَّقَ عَنْهَا  

malik:36-71Mālik > Hishām b. ʿUrwah from his father

Malik related to me from Hisham ibn Urwa from his father from A'isha, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ that a man said to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ "My mother died suddenly, and I think that had she spoken, she would have given sadaqa. Shall I give sadaqa for her?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Yes."  

مالك:٣٦-٧١وَحَدَّثَنِي مَالِكٌ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ

عَنْ عَائِشَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّ رَجُلاً قَالَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِنَّ أُمِّي افْتُلِتَتْ نَفْسُهَا وَأُرَاهَا لَوْ تَكَلَّمَتْ تَصَدَّقَتْ أَفَأَتَصَدَّقُ عَنْهَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ نَعَمْ  

ahmad:24251Yaḥyá > Hishām from my father > ʿĀʾishah > a man

A man said to the Prophet ﷺ, "My mother died suddenly and I thought that if she had lived she would have given alms. So, if I give alms now on her behalf, will she get the reward?" The Prophet ﷺ replied in the affirmative. (Using translation from Bukhārī 1388)  

أحمد:٢٤٢٥١حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا هِشَامٌ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبِي قَالَ أَخْبَرَتْنِي عَائِشَةُ أَنَّ رَجُلًا قَالَ
