[Machine] Zubayd and Salamah informed me that they heard from Ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn Abzah, from his father, that the Prophet ﷺ used to perform the night prayer with the recitation of the Surah of "Glorify the name of your Lord, the Most High," and the Surahs of "O disbelievers" and "Say: He is Allah, the One." And when he finished the prayer, he would say, "Exalted is the King, the Holy One," three times, raising his voice in the last one.

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to perform the Witr prayer by reciting Surahs such as "Glorify the name of your Lord, the Most High" and "Say, O disbelievers". He would also recite "Say: He is Allah, the One". When he finished, he would say "Glory be to the King, the Holy" three times, raising his voice during the last repetition. Muhammad ibn Juhaadah went against this practice and narrated it from Zubeid, who narrated it from Ibn Abza, but he did not mention anything after that.

He would observe witr with a single rak'ah and make a prostration as long as you would take to recite fifty verses before raising his head. When the mu'adhdhin finished his call for the dawn prayer and the dawn became clear to him.... Then the narrator transmitted the rest of the tradition to the same effect. [Machine] Aisha, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ , said: The Prophet ﷺ used to pray eleven Rak'ahs (units of prayer) between the end of the night prayer (Isha) and the dawn prayer (Fajr). He would offer the Salaam (concluding the prayer) after every two Rak'ahs, and he would perform the Witr prayer (an odd-numbered prayer) with one Rak'ah. He would also make a long prostration, equivalent to reciting fifty verses of the Qur'an, before raising his head (from prostration). When the caller to prayer finishes the Fajr prayer and the dawn becomes clear to him, the Prophet ﷺ would get up and pray two light Rak'ahs, and then he would lie down on his right side until the caller to prayer comes to give the call for the Iqamah (the final announcement before prayer). He would then come out with the caller to prayer. Some of them add a little to this.

Al-Makhdaji said: So I went to Ubadah ibn as-Samit and informed him. Ubadah said: AbuMuhammad told a lie. Yahya related to me from Malik from Yahya ibn Said from Muhammad ibn Yahya ibn Habban from Ibn Muhayriz that a man from the Kinana tribe called al-Mukhdaji heard a man in Syria known as Abu Muhammad saying, "The witr is obligatory (fard)." Al-Mukhdaji said, "I went to Ubada ibn as-Samit and presented myself to him as he was going to the mosque, and told him what Abu Muhammad had said. Ubada said that Abu Muhammad had lied and that he had heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Allah the Majestic and Mighty has written five prayers for mankind, and whoever does them and does not waste anything of them by making light of what is due to them, there is a pact for him with Allah that He will admit him into the Garden.Whoever does not do them, there is no pact for him with Allah. If He wishes, He punishes him, and if He wishes, He admits him into the Garden.' "
