[Machine] "When Allah defeated the polytheists on the Day of Badr, I passed by and saw Abu Jahl lying wounded, his leg struck. I said, 'O enemy of Allah, O Abu Jahl, Allah has humiliated the other party.' He replied, 'I am not afraid of that.' I said, 'Stay away from a man whose people have killed him,' and I struck him with a useless sword, but it did not benefit me at all until his sword fell from his hand, so I took it and struck him until he was lifeless. Then I went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , feeling intense to inform him as quickly as possible, and I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, Allah has killed Abu Jahl.' He said, 'Is it Allah, the One whom there is no deity besides Him?' I said, 'Yes, Allah, the One whom there is no deity besides Him. I have indeed killed him.' He asked, 'How?' So I narrated to him how the conversation went and what I found. He said, 'Is it Allah, the One whom there is no deity besides Him?' I said, 'Yes, Allah, the One whom there is no deity besides Him. I have indeed killed him.' He then exclaimed, 'All praise is due to Allah who has fulfilled His promise and granted victory to His servant.' Then he set off until he came to him and said, 'This is Pharaoh of this Ummah.'"
[Machine] I came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, Allah the Almighty has indeed killed Abu Jahl." He replied, "All praise is due to Allah, who has fulfilled His promise, aided His servant, and honored His religion."
[Machine] I came to the Prophet ﷺ with the head of Abu Jahl and said, "This is the head of Abu Jahl." He said, "By Allah, besides whom there is no deity, this is the head of Abu Jahl." I said, "By Allah, besides whom there is no deity, indeed, this is the head of Abu Jahl." He said, "This is Pharaoh of this nation."
[Machine] I witnessed Abu Jahl on the day of Badr in a state of agony, so I said, "Which enemy of Allah has disgraced you?" He replied, "The man you killed, and with me is a sword that I couldn't strike with, but he had a good sword with him." So I struck his hand and the sword fell from it, and I took it. Then I uncovered the crown of his head and struck his neck. Then I went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and informed him. He said, "Is it Allah, the One whom there is no deity but Him?" I replied, "Yes, it is Allah, the One whom there is no deity but Him." He said, "Go and make sure." So I departed, running like a bird. Then I returned, still running like a bird, and I smiled. I informed him, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Go and show me." So I went with him and showed him. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood over him, he said, "This is the Pharaoh of this Ummah (nation)." This is how it was narrated by Zaid ibn Abi Unaisah, from Abu Ishaq, from Amr ibn Maymun, and it was also followed by Abu Waqee'.
[Machine] I arrived at Abu Jahl on the day of Badr while he was dying, so I struck him with a sword that I had with me. His sword then slipped from his hand, so I took it and killed him. Then I went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on a hot day, as if I were carrying the Earth, so I said, "O Messenger of Allah, did you not see that Allah killed Abu Jahl?" He said, "Allah?" I said, "Yes, Allah, until he swore to me three times." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Go and show me." So I went to him, and when he looked at him, he said, "This man was the Pharaoh of this nation."
[Machine] I fought Abu Jahl on the day of Badr and I sat him down. I took his sword and struck him on the head. He said, "Our leader in Makkah has been struck with his own sword!" I continued to strike him with his own sword until it became blunt. Then, I went to the Prophet and said, "O Messenger of Allah, I have killed Abu Jahl." Aqil, who was captured with the Prophet, falsely accused me of lying and said, "You did not kill him." I said, "No, you are the lying sinner, O enemy of Allah. By Allah, I have killed him." He asked, "What is his distinguishing mark?" I said, "He had a ring on his thigh like the ring of a camel's hobble." He said, "You have spoken the truth."
[Machine] Indeed, We were sitting with Umar when Abdullah came, and he almost outweighed Umar in his sitting. Umar laughed when he saw him and then he started talking to Umar and making him laugh while he was standing, and then he left and Umar followed his sight until he disappeared and said, "He is a reservoir filled with knowledge."
[Machine] Umar wrote to the people of Kufa, "Indeed, I have appointed Ammar as a leader and Abdullah ibn Mas'ood as a teacher and minister, and they are from the noble companions of Muhammad, from the people of Badr and Uhud. So follow their example and listen to their words. I have preferred Abdullah over myself for you."

[Machine] May Allah have mercy on Ibn Mas'ud, even if he was knowledgeable, but I give him the share of a brother from his mother's side from his mother's side, and then I divide the money between them.
[Machine] Hudhaifah said, "Indeed, the person who most resembles the guidance, manners, intentions, and sermons of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ from the moment he leaves his house until he returns, and I don't know what he does with his family, is Abdullah bin Mas'ood. And by Allah, the fortunate ones among the companions of Muhammad know that Abdullah is among the closest of them and a means [of guidance] on the Day of Resurrection."

[Machine] "I have never seen a man more resembling, having a better character, or more guided than the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , from the time he leaves his home until he returns to it, than Abdullah ibn Mas'oud. [Machine] Inform us about a man who is close in direction, guidance, and guidance from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . He said, "I don't know anyone closer in guidance, direction, and guidance with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ until the wall of his house is concealed by the son of Umm Abd."
[Machine] Tell us about a man who is close in direction, guidance, and evidence from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . He said, "I do not know anyone who is closer in guidance, direction, and evidence from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ until the wall of his house is covered by the son of Umm 'Abd."
[Machine] We were at Hudhaifah's house in the shoes of Abdullah. He said, "I do not know anyone who resembles or walks more like the Messenger of Allah ﷺ than the owner of this house, from the moment he leaves until he enters his house. When he disappears, only Allah knows. Indeed, the fortunate ones among the companions of Muhammad ﷺ know that he is one of their closest means to Allah on the Day of Resurrection."
[Machine] "Shall I not inform you of the person who resembles the Messenger of Allah ﷺ the most in guidance, evidence, and characteristics?" We said, "Yes." He said, "Abdullah."
[Machine] "To look at the most similar people with calmness, distinction, and deference towards the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , when he leaves his home until he returns, one should then look at Abdullah ibn Mas'ud."
[Machine] "And that both of you are like a guide and a beacon, following the footsteps of the Prophet ﷺ and being a sign for Abdullah ibn Mas'ud."
[Machine] I was sitting with Hudhaifah and Abu Musa al-Ash'ari, and one of them said to his companion, "Have you heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ narrating such and such a Hadith?" He replied, "No." The other person asked him, "Have you heard it?" He replied, "No." So he said, "Indeed, the owner of this house claims that he heard it." Abu Musa said, "If he has done so, then he should enter when we are veiled (i.e., present), and testify when we are absent." Sulaiman al-A'mash said, "(He means) Abdullah bin Mas'ud."
[Machine] Ibrahim came to Abdullah, the father of Musa, and spoke to him. The prayer was about to begin, and when it was established, Abu Musa delayed. Abdullah said to him, "You should know that it is the Sunnah for the owner of the house to go ahead." Abu Musa refused until a servant of either of them came forward.
We were in the house of Abu Musa along with some of the companions of 'Abdullah and they were looking at the Holy Book. 'Abdullah stood up, whereupon Abu Mas'ud said: I do not know whether Messenger of Allah, ﷺ has left after him one having a better knowledge (of Islam) than the man who is standing. Abu Musa said: If you say this, that is correct, because he had been present when we had been absent and he was permitted when we were detained. (Using translation from Muslim 2461b)
[Machine] "I have never seen a man more knowledgeable about what has been revealed to Muhammad ﷺ from Allah." Abu Musa responded, "If that is the case, then he would hear when others do not hear and enter when others do not enter."
[Machine] Abu Mas'ood said, "No, by Allah, I do not know of anyone more knowledgeable about the Book of Allah than this man standing here (referring to himself)."
"My brother and I arrived from Yemen, and we did not see a period except that we thought 'Abdullah bin Mas'ud was a man from the people of the house of the Prophet ﷺ, due to what we would see of him entering, and his mother's entering, upon the Prophet ﷺ." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 3806)
[Machine] I came to the Prophet ﷺ while I was seeing Ibn Mas'ood from the people of the household.
[Machine] My wife's milk was trapped in her breast, so I performed musaha and mughith on it, and some of it entered my stomach. He (the Prophet) said, "It is forbidden for you (to drink it)." So I went to Abdullah and Abu Atiyah came. Then he (Abdullah) stood up and we stood with him. He (Abdullah) said, "Breastfeed him, for breastfeeding is only what produces flesh and blood." Abu Musa said, "Do not ask me about anything as long as this ink is between your arms."
[Machine] His wife had a swollen breast, so he would suckle from it and also rub his face on it. Then he entered upon Ibn Mas'ood and asked him about it. Ibn Mas'ood said, "It is not forbidden for you, and what is forbidden is only what grows flesh and strengthens bones. There is no breastfeeding after weaning." Then it was said to Abu Musa, and he said, "Do not ask us about something that this scholar from among the companions of the Messenger of Allah has established among us."
[Machine] About Abdullah, he said, "To fear Allah as He should be feared means to obey Him and not to disobey Him, to remember Him and not to forget Him, and to be grateful to Him and not to deny Him."
[Machine] In his saying "Fear Allah as He should be feared," he said, "That He is obeyed and not disobeyed, and that He is thanked and not ungrateful, and that He is remembered and not forgotten."
[Machine] About Murrah's saying, "And they give wealth due to their love for it," Ibn Mas'ud said, "To give it (wealth) while you are healthy but stingy, hoping for a comfortable life and fearing poverty."
[Machine] "Abdullah said, 'Al-Kaba'ir (major sins) are from the beginning of Surah An-Nisa to the end of the thirtieth verse.'"
[Machine] Abdullah, how disliked are death and poverty, and by Allah, I do not care which of them I have been tested with, whether it is wealth, which contains mercy, or poverty, which contains patience.
[Machine] One day our servant Abdullah said, "Verily, illness does not diminish the reward for its owner." We disliked this and it upset us, so he said, "However, Allah forgives sins through it."
[Machine] Abdullah said, "Shall I not warn you against excessive speech, for it may be sufficient for one of you to fulfill his needs."
[Machine] Because remembering Allah from morning till night is more beloved to me than carrying burdens from morning till night.
[Machine] Abdullah said, "Indeed, I know people from the tribe of Abiyat who are frightened by the Dajjal." They asked, "Who are they, O Abu Abdur Rahman?" He said, "The people of Kufa."
[Machine] "Do not mention it excessively, for when a matter is decreed in the heavens, it is swifter to come down to the earth than to be spoken by the tongues of people." He said, "And how can it be for you while the people are believers and you are fearful? And how can it be for you while the people are in the shade and you are in the sun?"
[Machine] Abdullah said, "If he were to stay in Babylon, some of the poor would complain to him about the speed."
[Machine] "Whoever wants to deceive someone, Allah will make him deceive himself. Whoever wants to spread rumors about someone, Allah will make him hear those rumors about himself. Whoever acts with arrogance, thinking he is grand, Allah will lower him. And whoever humbles himself and acts with humility, Allah will exalt him. People may have abundant resources in this world but be restricted in the hereafter. Conversely, people may be restricted in this world but have abundant resources in the hereafter. Some are restricted in both worlds, while others have abundance in both worlds. The one who is at ease and finds tranquility is the believer when he dies. As for the one who causes oppression and spreads slander among people, he is at ease and finds tranquility from them." We asked, "O Abu Abdul Rahman, what does it mean to be at ease and find tranquility?" He replied, "As for being at ease, it refers to the believer when he dies, and as for finding tranquility, it refers to the one who oppresses people and spreads slander about them."
[Machine] I asked the companions of Muhammad ﷺ and found that their knowledge reached six individuals: Umar, Ali, Abdullah ibn Mas'ood, Abu Darda, and Zaid ibn Thabit. Then, I asked the six individuals and found that their knowledge reached Ali and Abdullah.
[Machine] Indeed, knowledge and faith are to be sought after and found. He said that three times. Seek knowledge from four companions: Uwaimir, Abu Darda, Salman al-Farsi, Abdullah ibn Mas'ud, and Abdullah ibn Salam.

[Machine] "Only four people remained with the Prophet ﷺ on the day of Uhud, one of them being Abdullah ibn Mas'ood."
[Machine] I heard Ali say that the Prophet ﷺ commanded Ibn Mas'ud to climb a tree and bring something from it. His companions looked at the thinness of his legs and laughed. The Prophet ﷺ then said, "What makes you laugh? The weight of Abdullah in the scale is heavier than Mount Uhud."

[Machine] I climbed a date tree to pick some dates from it. My companions were amazed at my agility. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Why are you amazed? By the One in whose hand is my soul, the date stone I threw is heavier on the Day of Judgment than Mount Uhud."
the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Verily there are two things - words and guidance. The best words are the words of Allah, and the best guidance in the guidance of Muhammad. Beware of newly-invented matters, for every newly-invented matter is an innovation (Bid'ah) and every innovation is a going-stray. Do not let the desire for a long life causes your hearts to grow hard. That which is bound to happen is close to you, and the only thing that is far away is that which is not going to happen. The one who is doomed to Hell is doomed from his mother's womb, and the one who is destined for Paradise is the one who learns from the lessons of others. Killing a believer constitutes disbelief (Kufr) and verbally abusing him is immorality (Fusuq). It is not permissible for a Muslim to forsake his brother for more than three days. Beware of lying, for lying is never good, whether it is done seriously or in jest. A man should not make a promise to a child that he will not keep. Lying leads to immorality and immorality leads to Hell. Truthfulness leads to righteousness and righteousness leads to Paradise. It will be said of the truthful person: 'He spoke the truth and was righteous', and it will be said of the liar, 'He told lies and was immoral.' "For a person continues to tell lies until he is recorded with Allah as a liar." (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 46)
