"عَنِ النعمان بن بَشِير أَنَّ أَباه نَحلَه غُلَامًا، وَأنهُ أَتَى النَّبِىَّ ﷺ لِيُشْهِدَهُ فَقَالَ: أَكُلَّ وَلدكَ نَحَلتَهُ مِثْلَ هَذَا؟ (* *) قَالَ: فَارْدُدْهُ".
"Have you given a present to all of your children?" He said: "No." He said: "Then take it back." This wording is that of (one of the narrators) Muhammad.
أَنَّ أَبَاهُ نَحَلَهُ غُلاَمًا فَأَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يُشْهِدُهُ فَقَالَ أَكُلَّ وَلَدِكَ نَحَلْتَ قَالَ لاَ قَالَ فَارْدُدْهُ وَاللَّفْظُ لِمُحَمَّدٍ
"Have you given a similar present to all of your children?" He said: "No." He said: "Then take (your present) back."
أَنَّهُ نَحَلَ ابْنَهُ غُلاَمًا فَأَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَأَرَادَ أَنْ يُشْهِدَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ أَكُلَّ وَلَدِكَ نَحَلْتَهُ مِثْلَ ذَا قَالَ لاَ قَالَ فَارْدُدْهُ
That his father gave a slave to a son of his. So he went to the Prophet ﷺ to have him witness it. He ﷺ said: 'Have you given a gift similar to this one to all of your sons?' He replied: 'No'. So he said: 'Then take him back.'"
أَنَّ أَبَاهُ نَحَلَ ابْنًا لَهُ غُلاَمًا فَأَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يُشْهِدُهُ فَقَالَ أَكُلَّ وَلَدِكَ نَحَلْتَهُ مِثْلَ مَا نَحَلْتَ هَذَا قَالَ لاَ قَالَ فَارْدُدْهُ
ذِكْرُ لَفْظَةٍ أَوْهَمَتْ عَالِمًا مِنَ النَّاسِ أَنَّ الْإِيثَارَ فِي النَّحْلِ بَيْنَ الْأَوْلَادِ جَائِزٌ
I have donated this slave of mine to my son. Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Have you donated to every one of your sons (a slave) like this? He said: No. Thereupon Messenger of Allah (may peace he upon him) said: Then take him back. (Using translation from Muslim 1623a)
