Ibn 'Umar reported that Messenger of Allah (may peace upon him) cut off the hand of a thief (in case of the theft) of a shield the price of which was three dirhams.  

مسلم:١٦٨٦a – حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى قَالَ قَرَأْتُ عَلَى مَالِكٍ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ

Malik related to me from Nafi from Abdullah ibn Umar that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ cut off the hand of a man who stole a shield whose price was three dirhams.
