nasai:3396Muḥammad b. ʿAbd al-Aʿlá > al-Muʿtamir > ʿUbaydullāh b. ʿUmar > Nāfiʿ > ʿAbdullāh

"Tell 'Abdullah to take her back, then, when she has performed Ghusl, let him leave her alone, until she menstruates (again). Then, when she performs Ghusl following that second period, he should not touch her until he divorces her. And if he wants to keep her, then let him keep her. That is the time when Allah has stated that women may be divorced."

[Machine] He divorced his wife while she was menstruating, and he mentioned that to Umar. Umar then went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and informed him. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Let him keep her until she menstruates again, other than this menstruation, then she should purify herself. If it appears to him that he should divorce her, then he should divorce her as Allah commanded. And if it appears to him that he should keep her, then he should keep her."
