Yahya related to me from Malik from Hisham ibn Urwa that his father said, "I was sitting with Usama ibn Zayd when some one asked him, 'How did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ travel when he went from Arafa to Muzdalifa during the farewell hajj?' and he replied, 'He went at a medium pace, but when he found a gap (in the crowds) he speeded up.' "  

مالك:٢٠-١٨٨ – حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى عَنْ مَالِكٍ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّهُ قَالَ سُئِلَ أُسَامَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ

وَأَنَا جَالِسٌ مَعَهُ كَيْفَ كَانَ يَسِيرُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ حِينَ دَفَعَ قَالَ كَانَ يَسِيرُ الْعَنَقَ فَإِذَا وَجَدَ فَجْوَةً نَصَّ قَالَ مَالِكٌ قَالَ هِشَامٌ وَالنَّصُّ فَوْقَ الْعَنَقِ

Usama was asked in my presence, "How was the speed of (the camel of) Messenger of Allah ﷺ while departing from ʿArafat during the Hajjatul Wadaʿ?" Usama replied, "The Prophet ﷺ proceeded on with a modest pace, and when there was enough space he would (make his camel) go very fast."

"Usamah bin Zaid was asked - while I was sitting with him: 'How did the Messenger of Allah travel during the Farewell Pilgrimage when he moved on?' He said: 'He rode at a moderate pace, and if he found some open space, he would gallop.'"  

النسائي:٣٠٥١ – أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي مَالِكٌ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ

سُئِلَ أُسَامَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ وَأَنَا جَالِسٌ مَعَهُ كَيْفَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَسِيرُ فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ حِينَ دَفَعَ قَالَ كَانَ يُسَيِّرُ نَاقَتَهُ فَإِذَا وَجَدَ فَجْوَةً نَصَّ  

abudawud:1923 – al-Qaʿnabī > Mālik > Hishām b. ʿUrwah from his father > Suʾil Usāmah b. Zayd

Hisham bin ‘Urwah reported on the authority of his father Usamah bin Zaid was asked when I was sitting along with him, how did the Apostle of Allaah ﷺ travel during the Farewell Pilgrimage when he proceeded from ‘Arafah to Al Muzdalifah? He replied he was travelling at a quick pace and when he found an opening he urged on his Camel. Hisham said “Nass(running or urging on the Camel) is above ‘anaq(going at a quick pace).”  

أبو داود:١٩٢٣ – حَدَّثَنَا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ عَنْ مَالِكٍ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ

أَنَّهُ قَالَ سُئِلَ أُسَامَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ وَأَنَا جَالِسٌ كَيْفَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَسِيرُ فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ حِينَ دَفَعَ قَالَ كَانَ يَسِيرُ الْعَنَقَ فَإِذَا وَجَدَ فَجْوَةً نَصَّ قَالَ هِشَامٌ النَّصُّ فَوْقَ الْعَنَقِ  

ibnmajah:3017 – ʿAlī b. Muḥammad And ʿAmrū b. ʿAbdullāh > Wakīʿ > Hishām b. ʿUrwah from his father > Usāmah b. Zayd

“How did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ travel when he departed from ‘Arafat?” He said: “He moved at a quick pace, and when he reached an open space he would make his camel run.”  

ابن ماجة:٣٠١٧ – حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَمْرُو بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أُسَامَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ

أَنَّهُ سُئِلَ كَيْفَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَسِيرُ حِينَ دَفَعَ مِنْ عَرَفَةَ قَالَ كَانَ يَسِيرُ الْعَنَقَ فَإِذَا وَجَدَ فَجْوَةً نَصَّ قَالَ وَكِيعٌ وَالنَّصُّ يَعْنِي فَوْقَ الْعَنَقِ  

ahmad:21783 – Yaḥyá b. Saʿīd > Hishām from my father > Suʾil Usāmah

[Machine] About the journey of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during the Farewell Pilgrimage, and I was a witness, he said: "His way of walking was like that of a camel, and when he found a gap, he would pass through it and I would be following behind him."  

أحمد:٢١٧٨٣ – حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي قَالَ سُئِلَ أُسَامَةُ

عَنْ سَيْرِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ وَأَنَا شَاهِدٌ قَالَ كَانَ سَيْرُهُ الْعَنَقَ فَإِذَا وَجَدَ فَجْوَةً نَصَّ وَالنَّصُّ فَوْقَ الْعَنَقِ وَأَنَا رَدِيفُهُ

الكبرى للنسائي:٤٠٤٣ – أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ وَالْحَارِثُ بْنُ مِسْكِينٍ قِرَاءَةً عَلَيْهِ وَأنا أَسْمَعُ عَنِ ابْنِ الْقَاسِمِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي مَالِكٌ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ

سُئِلَ أُسَامَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ وَأَنَا جَالِسٌ مَعَهُ كَيْفَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَسِيرُ فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ حِينَ دَفَعَ قَالَ «كَانَتْ تَسِيرُ نَاقَتُهُ الْعَنَقَ فَإِذَا وَجَدَ فَجْوَةً نَصَّ»  

bayhaqi:9486 – Abū ʿAbdullāh al-Ḥāfiẓ And ʾAbū Ṭāhir al-Faqīh Waʾabū Zakariyyā b. Abū Isḥāq al-Muzakkī Waʾabū Saʿīd b. Abū ʿAmr > Abū al-ʿAbbās Muḥammad b. Yaʿqūb > Muḥammad b. ʿAbdullāh b. ʿAbd al-Ḥakam > Anas b. ʿIyāḍ > Hishām b. ʿUrwah from his father > Suʾil Usāmah b. Zayd ؓ

سُئِلَ أُسَامَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ؓ وَأَنَا جَالِسٌ كَيْفَ كَانَ يَسِيرُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ حِينَ دَفَعَ؟ فَقَالَ كَانَ يَسِيرُ الْعَنَقَ فَإِذَا وَجَدَ فَجْوَةً نَصَّ قَالَ هِشَامٌ النَّصُّ أَرْفَعُ مِنَ الْعَنَقِ
