ذِكْرُ قَوْلِ الْمُصْطَفَى ﷺ لِلْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ إِنَّهُ رَيْحَانَتُهُ مِنَ الدُّنْيَا

ibnhibban:6969 – Abū ʿArūbah Biḥarrān > Muḥammad b. Bashhār > Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar > Shuʿbah > Muḥammad b. Abū Yaʿqūb > Ibn Abū Nuʿm > Ibn ʿUmar And Saʾalah a man > Shayʾ > Shuʿbah Saʾalah > al-Muḥrim Yaqtul al-Dhubāb > ʿAbdullāh b. ʿUmar Yasʾalūnī

A person asked ʿAbdullah bin ʿUmar whether a Muslim could kill flies. I heard him saying (in reply). "The people of Iraq are asking about the killing of flies while they themselves murdered the son of the daughter of Messenger of Allah ﷺ . The Prophet ﷺ said, They (i.e. Hasan and Husain) are my two sweet basils in this world." (Using translation from Bukhārī 3753)  

ابن حبّان:٦٩٦٩ – أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَرُوبَةَ بِحَرَّانَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي يَعْقُوبَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ أَبِي نُعْمٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ وَسَأَلَهُ رَجُلٌ عَنْ شَيْءٍ قَالَ شُعْبَةُ سَأَلَهُ عَنِ الْمُحْرِمِ يَقْتُلُ الذُّبَابَ؟ فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ يَسْأَلُونِي

عَنْ قَتْلِ الذُّبَابِ وَقَدْ قَتَلُوا ابْنَ بِنْتِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «هُمَا رَيْحَانَتِي مِنَ الدُّنْيَا»

Ibn 'Umar said "Look at this one, he asks about the blood of a gnat while they killed the son of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ! And I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Indeed Al-Hasan and Al-Husain - they are my two sweet basils in the world.'" (Using translation from Tirmidhī 3770)

عَنْ دَمِ الْبَعُوضِ؟ وَقَدْ قَتَلُوا ابْنَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَقَدْ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ هُمَا رَيْحَانَتِي مِنَ الدُّنْيَا

[Machine] Regarding a person who killed a fly, while you have killed the son of the daughter of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ? And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ has said, "They are my two sweet-smelling plants from this world."
