Somebody asked, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! Who is the best among the people?" Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied "A believer who strives his utmost in Allah's Cause with his life and property." They asked, "Who is next?" He replied, "A believer who stays in one of the mountain paths worshipping Allah and leaving the people secure from his mischief."  

البخاري:٢٧٨٦ – حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ أَخْبَرَنَا شُعَيْبٌ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عَطَاءُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ اللَّيْثِيُّ

that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked: "Which of the people are most virtuous?" He said: "A man who take part in Jihad in Allah's cause." They said: "Then whom?" He said: "Then a believer who stays in one of the mountains path out of Taqwa for his Lord, leaving the people secure from his evil."  

[Abu 'Eisa said:] This Hadith is Hasan Sahih.

He said, "A believer who isolates himself in a remote part of the mountains or in a valley, sparing people from his evil."  

أحمد:١١٥٣٥ – حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ حَدَّثَنَا الزُّهْرِيُّ عَنْ عَطَاءٍ وَقَالَ عَفَّانُ مَرَّةً عَطَاءُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ قَالَ

قِيلَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَيُّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَفْضَلُ؟ قَالَ مُؤْمِنٌ يُجَاهِدُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ بِنَفْسِهِ وَمَالِهِ قَالُوا ثُمَّ مَنْ؟ قَالَ مُؤْمِنٌ اعْتَزَلَ فِي شِعْبٍ مِنَ الشِّعَابِ أَوِ الشُّعْبَةِ كَفَى النَّاسَ شَرَّهُ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said, "It was asked, 'Who among the people is the best?' He replied, 'A believer who strives with his wealth and himself in the cause of Allah.' He was then asked, 'Then who?' He answered, 'A believer in a mountain pass among the mountain passes, who fears Allah and refrains from harming the people.'

البيهقي:١٨٤٩٦ – أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْقَاضِي أنبأ أَبُو سَهْلُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ الْطَّحَّانُ ثنا عَبْدُ الْكَرِيمِ بْنُ الْهَيْثَمِ ثنا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ أَخْبَرَنِي شُعَيْبٌ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ حَدَّثَنِي عَطَاءُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ أَنَّهُ حَدَّثَهُ أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيُّ ؓ

أَنَّهُ قِيلَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أِيُّ النَّاسِ أَفْضَلُ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مُؤْمِنٌ مُجَاهِدٌ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ بِنَفْسِهِ وَمَالِهِ فَقَالَ ثُمَّ مَنْ؟ قَالَ مُؤْمِنٌ فِي شِعْبٍ مِنَ الشِّعَابِ يَتَّقِي اللهَ ﷻ وَيَدَعُ النَّاسَ مِنْ شَرِّهِ
