[Machine] It was asked, "O Messenger of Allah, which people are the best?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ , replied, "A believer who struggles in the cause of Allah with his self and his wealth." Then it was asked, "And then who?" He said, "A believer in a tribe among the tribes who fears Allah and keeps away from harming people."

Who is the best of men? He replied: A man who fights in the way of Allah spending his wealth and staking his life. The man then asked: Who is next to him (in excellence)? He said: Next to him is a believer who lives in a mountain gorge worshipping hid Lord and sparing men from his mischief.

"عَنِ الزُّهِريِّ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَطَاءُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ أَنَّهُ حَدَّثَهُ بَعْضُ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ: قِيلَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ: أَيُّ النَّاسِ أَفْضَلُ؟ قَالَ: مَنْ جَاهَدَ بِنَفْسِهِ وَمَالِهِ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ، قَالُوا: ثُمَّ مَنْ؟ قَالَ: مُؤْمِنٌ فِي شِعْبٍ مِنَ الشِّعَابِ يَتَّقِي رَبَّهُ وَيَدَعُ النَّاسَ مِنْ شرِّهِ".
