Abu Sa’id (Al Khudri) reported The Prophet ﷺ was asked “Which believers are most perfect in respect of faith? He replied “A man who strives in the path of Allaah with his life and property and a man who worships Allaah in a mountain valley where he protects the people from his evil.””

أبو داود:٢٤٨٥ – حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ حَدَّثَنَا الزُّهْرِيُّ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ سُئِلَ أَىُّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَكْمَلُ إِيمَانًا قَالَ رَجُلٌ يُجَاهِدُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ بِنَفْسِهِ وَمَالِهِ وَرَجُلٌ يَعْبُدُ اللَّهَ فِي شِعْبٍ مِنَ الشِّعَابِ قَدْ كُفِيَ النَّاسُ شَرَّهُ

Who is the best of men? He replied: A man who fights in the way of Allah spending his wealth and staking his life. The man then asked: Who is next to him (in excellence)? He said: Next to him is a believer who lives in a mountain gorge worshipping hid Lord and sparing men from his mischief.

هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحٌ عَلَى شَرْطِ الشَّيْخَيْنِ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ على شرط البخاري ومسلم

ذِكْرُ الْبَيَانِ بِأَنَّ الِاعْتِزَالَ لِمَنْ تَفَرَّدَ بِغَنَمِهِ مَعَ عِبَادَةِ اللَّهِ إِنَّمَا يَسْتَحِقُّ الثَّوَابَ الَّذِي ذَكَرْنَاهُ إِذَا لَمْ يَكُنْ يُؤْذِي النَّاسَ بِلِسَانِهِ وَيَدِهِ

"أكملُ المؤمنين إيمانًا رجُلٌ يجاهدُ في سبيلِ الله بنفسِه ومالهِ، ورجُل يعبدُ الله في شِعْبٍ من الشَّعابِ قد كفَى الناسَ شَرَّهُ".
