[Machine] I saw the Messenger of Allah perform ablution multiple times and wipe over his socks, and he prayed all the prayers with one ablution. Umar said to him, "You did something that you did not used to do before." He said, "Yes, I deliberately did it, O Umar."  

البيهقي:١٢٨٤أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ ثنا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مِهْرَانَ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ قَادِمٍ ثنا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ مَرْثَدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ وَهُوَ سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ بُرَيْدَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ

رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ تَوَضَّأَ مَرَّةً مَرَّةً وَمَسَحَ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ وَصَلَّى الصَّلَوَاتِ كُلِّهَا بِوَضُوءٍ وَاحِدٍ فَقَالَ لَهُ عُمَرُ صَنَعْتَ شَيْئًا مَا كُنْتَ تَصْنَعُهُ فَقَالَ عَمْدًا فَعَلْتُهُ يَا عُمَرُ

You have today done something that you have not been accustomed to before. He (the Holy Prophet) said: 0 'Umar, I have done that on purpose.

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ صَلَّى الصَّلَوَاتِ يَوْمَ الْفَتْحِ بِوُضُوءٍ وَاحِدٍ وَمَسَحَ عَلَى خُفَّيْهِ فَقَالَ لَهُ عُمَرُ لَقَدْ صَنَعْتَ الْيَوْمَ شَيْئًا لَمْ تَكُنْ تَصْنَعُهُ قَالَ عَمْدًا صَنَعْتُهُ يَا عُمَرُ  

ذِكْرُ السَّبَبِ الَّذِي مِنْ أَجْلِهِ فَعَلَ ﷺ مَا وَصَفْنَا

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed five prayers with the same ablution of the occasion of the capture of Mecca, and he wiped over his socks. ‘Umar said to him(the Prophet): I saw you doing a thing today that you never did. He said: I did it deliberately. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 172)

«صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ الصَّلَوَاتِ كُلَّهَا يَوْمَ فَتْحِ مَكَّةَ بِوَضُوءٍ وَاحِدٍ وَمَسَحَ عَلَى خُفَّيْهِ» فَقَالَ لَهُ عُمَرُ إِنِّي رَأَيْتُكَ الْيَوْمَ صَنَعْتَ شَيْئًا لَمْ تَكُنْ تَصْنَعُهُ قَبْلَ الْيَوْمِ قَالَ «عَمْدًا فَعَلْتُ يَا عُمَرُ»
