bayhaqi:12047 – Abū Muḥammad ʿAbdullāh b. Yūsuf > Abū Bakr Muḥammad b. al-Ḥusayn b. al-Ḥasan al-Qaṭṭān > Qaṭan b. Ibrāhīm al-Qushayrī > Ḥafṣ b. ʿAbdullāh > Ibrāhīm b. Ṭahmān > Muḥammad b. Ziyād > Abū Hurayrah

Whenever a meal was brought to Messenger of Allah ﷺ, he would ask whether it was a gift or Sadaqa (something given in charity). If he was told that it was Sadaqa, he would tell his companions to eat it, but if it was a gift, he would hurry to share it with them. (Using translation from Bukhārī 2576)   

البيهقي:١٢٠٤٧ – أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ أنبأ أَبُو بَكْرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ الْقَطَّانُ ثنا قَطَنُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْقُشَيْرِيُّ ثنا حَفْصُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ طَهْمَانَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا أُتِيَ بِطَعَامٍ سَأَلَ أَهَدِيَّةٌ هُوَ أَمْ صَدَقَةٌ؟ فَإِنْ قِيلَ صَدَقَةٌ قَالَ لِأَصْحَابِهِ كُلُوا وَلَمْ يَأَكُلْ وَإِنْ قِيلَ هَدِيَّةٌ ضَرَبَ بِيَدِهِ فَأَكَلَ مَعَهُمْ  

أَخْرَجَهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ فِي الصَّحِيحِ مِنْ حَدِيثِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ طَهْمَانَ
