[Machine] We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the day of the trench, and we were occupied from performing prayers. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered Bilal to establish each prayer, and that was before the verse {So if you fear, then prayer on foot or riding} [Al-Baqarah 2:239] was revealed to him.  

البيهقي:٦٠٠٥أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ فُورَكٍ أنبأ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ثنا يُونُسُ بْنُ حَبِيبٍ ثنا أَبُو دَاوُدَ ثنا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ

كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ يَوْمَ الْخَنْدَقِ فَشُغِلْنَا عَنْ صَلَوَاتٍ فَأَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِلَالًا فَأَقَامَ لِكُلِّ صَلَاةٍ إِقَامَةً وَذَلِكَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَنْزِلَ عَلَيْهِ {فَإِنْ خِفْتُمْ فَرِجَالًا أَوْ رُكْبَانًا} [البقرة 239]

[Machine] I was with Sa'id ibn al-'As in Tabaristan, and he had some companions of the Prophet صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ with him. Sa'id asked them, "Which one of you witnessed the Prophet صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ leading the prayer of fear?" Huzaifa replied, "I know about your companions. Have half of them stand to face the enemy, while the other half stands behind you. You will then say the takbeer and they will say the takbeer with you. You will bow and they will bow with you. You will raise your head and they will raise their heads with you. Then you will prostrate and the group behind you will prostrate. When you raise your head from prostration, the group following you will stand up and the others will prostrate. Then you will bow and they will bow with you. You will raise your head and they will raise their heads with you. You will prostrate and the group following you will prostrate. The other group will stand to face the enemy. When you raise your head from prostration, those who are facing the enemy will prostrate. Then you will give them the salutation and command your companions that if they are attacked, then they are allowed to fight and speak."  

البيهقي:٦٠٠٦أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ عَبْدَانَ أنبأ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ الصَّفَّارُ ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ الضَّبِّيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ رَجَاءٍ ثنا إِسْرَائِيلُ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ سُلَيْمِ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ السَّلُولِيِّ قَالَ

كُنْتُ مَعَ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْعَاصِ بِطَبَرِسْتَانَ وَكَانَ مَعَهُ نَفَرٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ لَهُمْ سَعِيدٌ أَيُّكُمْ شَهِدَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ صَلَاةَ الْخَوْفِ فَقَالَ حُذَيْفَةُ أَنَا مُرْ أَصْحَابَكَ فَلْيَقُومُوا طَائِفَتَيْنِ طَائِفَةٌ مِنْهُمْ بِإِزَاءِ الْعَدُوِّ وَطَائِفَةٌ مِنْهُمْ خَلْفَكَ فَتُكَبِّرُ وَيُكَبِّرُونَ جَمِيعًا وَتَرْكَعُ وَيَرْكَعُونَ جَمِيعًا وَتُرْفَعُ وَيَرْفَعُونَ جَمِيعًا ثُمَّ تَسْجُدُ وَتَسْجُدُ الطَّائِفَةُ الَّتِي تَلِيكَ وَتَقُومُ الطَّائِفَةُ الْأُخْرَى بِإِزَاءِ الْعَدُوِّ فَإِذَا رَفَعْتَ رَأْسَكَ قَامَ هَؤُلَاءِ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَكَ وَخَرَّ الْأَخَرُونَ سُجَّدًا ثُمَّ تَرْكَعُ وَيَرْكَعُونَ جَمِيعًا ثُمَّ تَرْفَعُ وَيَرْفَعُونَ جَمِيعًا وَتَسْجُدُ فَتَسْجُدُ الطَّائِفَةُ الَّتِي تَلِيكَ وَالطَّائِفَةُ الْأُخْرَى قَائِمَةٌ بِإِزَاءِ الْعَدُوِّ فَإِذَا رَفَعْتَ رَأْسَكَ مِنَ السُّجُودِ سَجَدَ الَّذِينَ بِإِزَاءِ الْعَدُوِّ ثُمَّ تُسَلِّمُ عَلَيْهِمْ وَتَأْمُرُ أَصْحَابَكَ إِنْ هَاجَهُمْ هَيْجٌ فَقَدْ حَلَّ لَهُمُ الْقِتَالُ وَالْكَلَامِ

[Machine] My father informed me that they raided with Abdur Rahman ibn Samurah in Kabul, then he prayed the prayer of fear with us.

أَخْبَرَنِي أَبِي أَنَّهُمْ غَزَوْا مَعَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ كَابُلَ فَصَلَّى بِنَا صَلَاةَ الْخَوْفِ

[Machine] Abu Musa al-Ash'ari led us in the prayer of fear in Isfahan. It is narrated by Hattan al-Raqashi from Abu Musa that he performed the prayer of fear. It is also mentioned that Ja'far ibn Muhammad narrated from his father that Ali performed the prayer of fear at Maghrib during the night of Hareer. We have also heard from Sahl ibn Abi Hathma that he taught them the prayer of fear. Ibn Umar, when asked about the prayer of fear and its description, said that no one among them attributed its specification to the Prophet ﷺ or that it was abandoned. Rather, each one of them narrated it and believed that it was permissible according to the description they narrated. And with Allah is the facilitation.  

البيهقي:٦٠٠٨وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ الْفَقِيهُ أنبأ أَبُو مُحَمَّدِ بْنُ حَيَّانَ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ الْحَمَّالُ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُقَاتِلٍ ثنا حَكَّامٌ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ الرَّازِيِّ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَبِي الْعَالِيَةِ قَالَ

صَلَّى بِنَا أَبُو مُوسَى الْأَشْعَرِيُّ ؓ بأَصْبَهَانَ صَلَاةَ الْخَوْفِ وَرَوَى حَطَّانُ الرَّقَاشِيُّ عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى أَنَّهُ صَلَّى صَلَاةَ الْخَوْفِ وَيُذْكَرُ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّ عَلِيًّا ؓ صَلَّى الْمَغْرِبَ صَلَاةَ الْخَوْفِ لَيْلَةَ الْهَرِيرِ وَرُوِّينَا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ أَبِي حَثْمَةَ أَنَّهُ عَلَّمَهُمْ صَلَاةَ الْخَوْفِ وَعَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ؓ أَنَّهُ كَانَ إِذَا سُئِلَ عَنْ صَلَاةِ الْخَوْفِ وَصَفَهَا وَالَّذِينَ رَوَوْهَا عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ لَمْ يَحْمِلْهَا أَحَدٌ مِنْهُمْ عَلَى تَخْصِيصِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ بِهَا أَوْ عَلَى أَنَّهَا تُرِكَتْ بَلْ رَوَاهَا كُلُّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمْ وَهُوَ يَعْتَقِدُ جَوَازَهَا عَلَى الصِّفَةِ الَّتِي رَوَاهَا وَبِاللهِ التَّوْفِيقُ

On the authority of a person who offered the prayer in time of danger along with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at the battle of Dhat al-Riqa. One section of people stood in the row of prayer along with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and the other section remained standing in front of the enemy. He led those who were with him in one rak'ah and remained standing (in his place) and they completed (the second rak'ah) by themselves. Then they turned away and arrayed before the enemy. Thereafter the other section came and he led them in the rak'ah which remained from his prayer. He then remained sitting (in his place) and they completed their one rak'ah by themselves. He then uttered the salutation along with them. Malik said: I like the tradition reported by Yazid b. Ruman (i.e. the present tradition) more than (other versions) I heard. عَنْ صَالِحِ بْنِ خَوَّاتٍ عَمَّنْ صَلَّى مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ يَوْمَ ذَاتِ الرِّقَاعِ صَلَاةَ الْخَوْفِ أَنَّ طَائِفَةً صَفَّتْ مَعَهُ وَطَائِفَةً وِجَاهَ الْعَدُوِّ فَصَلَّى بِالَّتِي مَعَهُ رَكْعَةً ثُمَّ ثَبَتَ قَائِمًا وَأَتَمُّوا لِأَنْفُسِهِمْ ثُمَّ انْصَرَفُوا فَصَفُّوا وِجَاهَ الْعَدُوِّ وَجَاءَتِ الطَّائِفَةُ الْأُخْرَى فَصَلَّى بِهِمُ الرَّكْعَةَ الَّتِي بَقِيَتْ ثُمَّ ثَبَتَ جَالِسًا وَأَتَمُّوا لِأَنْفُسِهِمْ ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ بِهِمْ

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ performed the prayer of fear, so he lined up a group with him and another group facing the enemy. The Prophet ﷺ prayed a Rak'ah with those who were with him, then he stood and they stood and they completed it for themselves. Then they went to where their companions were, and the others came, so the Prophet ﷺ prayed a Rak'ah with them that remained, then they completed it for themselves. Ubaidullah said: Qasim, I haven't heard anything about the prayer of fear that I love more than this.  

البيهقي:٦٠١٠وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ الْحَمَامِيُّ الْمُقْرِئُّ بِبَغْدَادَ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سَلْمَانَ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ السُّلَمِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ الْأُوَيْسِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ عَنْ أَخِيهِ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ صَالِحِ بْنِ خَوَّاتٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ

صَلَّى النَّبِيُّ ﷺ صَلَاةُ الْخَوْفِ فَصَفَّ طَائِفَةً مَعَهُ وَطَائِفَةٌ تِلْقَاءَ الْعَدُوِّ فَصَلَّى النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بِالَّذِينَ مَعَهُ رَكْعَةً ثُمَّ قَامَ وَقَامُوا فَأَتَمُّوا لِأَنْفُسِهِمْ ثُمَّ ذَهَبُوا مَكَانَ أَصْحَابِهِمْ وَجَاءَ الْآخَرُونَ فَصَلَّى بِهِمُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ الرَّكْعَةَ الَّتِي بَقِيَتْ ثُمَّ أَتَمُّوا لِأَنْفُسِهِمْ قَالَ عُبَيْدُ اللهِ قَالَ الْقَاسِمُ مَا سَمِعْتُ شَيْئًا فِي صَلَاةِ الْخَوْفِ أَحَبَّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ هَذَا

The Prophet ﷺ prayed in time of danger and divided them (the people) behind him in two rows. He then led those who were near him in one rak'ah. Then he stood and remained standing till those who were in second row offered one rak'ah. Thereafter they came forward and those who were in front of them (in the first row) stepped backward. The Prophet ﷺ led them in one rak'ah of prayer. He sat down till those who were in the second row completed on rak'ah. He then uttered the salutation. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1237)   

البيهقي:٦٠١١أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الرُّوذْبَارِيُّ أنبأ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ ثنا أَبُو دَاوُدَ ثنا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ ثنا أَبِي ثنا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْقَاسِمِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ صَالِحِ بْنِ خَوَّاتٍ عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ أَبِي حَثْمَةَ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ صَلَّى بِأَصْحَابِهِ فِي خَوْفٍ فَجَعَلَهُمْ خَلْفَهُ صَفَّينِ فَصَلَّى بِالَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُ رَكْعَةً ثُمَّ قَامَ فَلَمْ يَزَلْ قَائِمًا حَتَّى صَلَّى الَّذِينَ خَلْفَهُ رَكْعَةً ثُمَّ تَقَدَّمُوا وَتَأَخَّرَ الَّذِينَ كَانُوا قُدَّامَهُمْ فَصَلَّى بِهِمُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ رَكْعَةً ثُمَّ قَعَدَ حَتَّى صَلَّى الَّذِينَ تَخَلَّفُوا رَكْعَةً ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ بِهِمْ

[Machine] From the Prophet ﷺ about a narration of Yahya ibn Sa'id al-Ansari, and Yahya said, "I write it beside him, and I do not memorize the narration, but it is like the narration of Yahya 6014." Abu Abdullah al-Hafith informed us, and Abu Abdullah Muhammad ibn Ya'qub narrated to us, and Yahya ibn Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, and Musaddad narrated to us, and Yahya narrated to us, from Shu'bah, from Abdul Rahman ibn Al-Qasim, from his father, from Salih bin Khawwat, from the Prophet ﷺ about the prayer of fear.  

البيهقي:٦٠١٢وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ أنبأ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سَلْمَانَ الْفَقِيهُ ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الْقَاضِي ثنا مُسَدَّدٌ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ح وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو صَالِحِ بْنُ أَبِي طَاهِرٍ الْعَنْبَرِيُّ أَنْبَأَنَا جَدِّي يَحْيَى بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ الْقَاضِي ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ الْعَبْدِيُّ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْقَطَّانُ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ صَالِحِ بْنِ خَوَّاتٍ عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ أَبِي حَثْمَةَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ فِي صَلَاةِ الْخَوْفِ يَقُومُ الْإِمَامُ مُسْتَقْبِلَ الْقِبْلَةِ وَتَقُومُ طَائِفَةٌ مِنْهُمْ مَعَهُ وَطَائِفَةٌ مِنْ قِبَلِ الْعَدُوِّ وَوُجُوهُهُمْ إِلَى الْعَدُوِّ فَيَرْكَعُ بِهِمْ رَكْعَةً وَيَرْكَعُونَ لِأَنْفُسِهِمْ وَيَسْجُدُونَ لِأَنْفُسِهِمْ سَجْدَتَيْنِ فِي مَكَانِهِمْ وَيَذْهَبُونَ إِلَى مَقَامِ أُولَئِكَ وَيَجِيءُ أُولَئِكَ فَيَرْكَعُ بِهِمْ رَكْعَةً وَيَسْجُدُ بِهِمْ سَجْدَتَيْنِ فَهِيَ لَهُ اثْنَتَانِ وَلَهُمْ وَاحِدَةٌ ثُمَّ يَرْكَعُونَ رَكْعَةً وَيَسْجُدُونَ سَجْدَتَيْنِ لَفْظُ حَدِيثِ ابْنِ بَشَّارٍ وَفِي حَدِيثِ مُسَدَّدٍ فَيُصَلِّي بِالَّذِينَ مَعَهُ رَكْعَةً ثُمَّ يَقُومُونَ فَيَرْكَعُونَ لِأَنْفُسِهِمْ رَكْعَةً وَالْبَاقِي بِمَعْنَاهُ رَوَاهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنْ مُسَدَّدٍ 6013 وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو صَالِحٍ أنبأ جَدِّي ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ بَشَّارٍ يَقُولُ سَأَلْتُ يَحْيَى بْنَ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ فَحَدَّثَنِي عَنْ شُعْبَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْقَاسِمِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ صَالِحِ بْنِ خَوَّاتٍ عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ أَبِي حَثْمَةَ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ بِمِثْلِ حَدِيثِ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ وَقَالَ يَحْيَى أَكْتُبُهُ إِلَى جَنْبِهِ وَلَسْتُ أَحْفَظُ الْحَدِيثَ وَلَكِنَّهُ مِثْلُ حَدِيثِ يَحْيَى 6014 أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ أنبأ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى ثنا مُسَدَّدٌ ثنا يَحْيَى عَنْ شُعْبَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْقَاسِمِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ صَالِحِ بْنِ خَوَّاتٍ عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ أَبِي حَثْمَةَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فِي صَلَاةِ الْخَوْفِ  

رَوَاهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنْ مُسَدَّدٍ هَكَذَا

[Machine] He said in the end, then they went to the forefront, and they came forward and stood behind the Imam, and he prayed a unit of prayer with them, then they stood and completed that unit of prayer, then the Imam performed the salutation. Abu Abdullah Al-Hafiz and Abu Saeed bin Abi Amr informed us of that. They said: Abu Abbas Muhammad bin Ya'qub informed us, Asid bin Aasim informed us, Husayn bin Hafs narrated from Sufyan, and he mentioned it in this way.  

البيهقي:٦٠١٥أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ الْعَدْلُ أنبأ أَبُو بَكْرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ الْمُزَكِّي ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْعَبْدِيُّ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ ثنا مَالِكٌ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ صَالِحِ بْنِ خَوَّاتٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ أَبِي حَثْمَةَ حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ صَلَاةَ الْخَوْفِ أَنْ يَقُومَ الْإِمَامُ وَمَعَهُ طَائِفَةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ وَطَائِفَةٌ مُوَاجِهَةٌ الْعَدُوَّ فَيَرْكَعُ بِهِمُ الْإِمَامُ رَكْعَةً وَيَسْجُدُ بِالَّذِينَ مَعَهُ ثُمَّ يَقُومُونَ فَإِذَا اسْتَوَى قَائِمًا ثَبَتَ وَأَتَمُّوا لِأَنْفُسِهِمُ الرَّكْعَةَ الْبَاقِيَةَ ثُمَّ سَلَّمُوا وَانْصَرَفُوا وَالْإِمَامُ قَائِمٌ وَكَانُوا وِجَاهَ الْعَدُوِّ ثُمَّ يُقْبِلُ الْآخَرُونَ الَّذِينَ لَمْ يُصَلُّوا فَيُكَبِّرُونَ وَرَاءَ الْإِمَامِ فَيَرْكَعُ بِهِمْ وَيَسْجُدُ ثُمَّ يُسَلِّمُ فَيَقُومُونَ فَيَرْكَعُونَ لِأَنْفُسِهِمُ الرَّكْعَةَ الْبَاقِيَةَ ثُمَّ يُسَلِّمُونَ كَذَا رَوَاهُ مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ 6016 وَخَالَفَهُ سُفْيَانُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الثَّوْرِيُّ فَرَوَاهُ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ بِإِسْنَادِهِ وَمَعْنَاهُ إِلَّا

أَنَّهُ قَالَ فِي آخِرِهِ ثُمَّ ذَهَبُوا إِلَى مَصَافِّ أُولَئِكَ وَجَاءُوا أُولَئِكَ وَقَامُوا وَرَاءَ الْإِمَامِ فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ رَكْعَةً ثُمَّ قَامُوا فَقَضَوْا تِلْكَ الرَّكْعَةَ ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ الْإِمَامُ أَخْبَرَنَا بِذَلِكَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ وَأَبُو سَعِيدِ بْنُ أَبِي عَمْرٍو قَالَا ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثنا أَسِيدُ بْنُ عَاصِمٍ ثنا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ حَفْصٍ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ فَذَكَرَهُ وَكَذَلِكَ  

رَوَاهُ رَوْحُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ وَمَالِكٍ قَالَ فِي آخِرِهِ ثُمَّ يُسَلِّمُ وَهَذَا أَوْلَى أَنْ يَكُونَ صَحِيحًا لِمُوَافَقَتِهِ رِوَايَةَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْقَاسِمِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ وَسَائِرُ مَا مَضَى فِي الْبَابِ قَبْلَهُ

[Machine] We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in Usfan when the Zuhr prayer was due. On the horses of the polytheists was Khalid bin Al-Walid. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ led his companions in the Zuhr prayer. The polytheists exclaimed, "They have a prayer after this one which they prefer over their own children, wealth, and selves. They refer to the Asr prayer." Then Jibril (Gabriel), upon him be peace, came down to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ between Zuhr and Asr and informed him of this. This verse was revealed: "And when you are among them and lead them in prayer, let a group stand [in prayer] with you and let them carry their arms" [Quran 4:102] until the end of the verse. So the prayer came and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ formed two rows, with them carrying their weapons. He said the Takbeer (Allahu Akbar) and the enemy in front of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ also said the Takbeer, all of them. They both performed the Rukoo' (bowing) and both prostrated- the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and the row that followed him, while the others stood guard. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ finished, he stood up for the second unit of prayer and the others prostrated, and the first group advanced to the position of the other and the second group delayed their steps. Then he offered another unit of prayer with them and they all performed Rukoo' and prostration together. When they finished, the first group performed prostration while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and the row that followed him stood guard. When they finished prostrating, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave the Salam (peaceful greetings). Abu Ayyash said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed this prayer twice. Once in Usfan and another time in the land of Bani Sulaym."  

البيهقي:٦٠١٧أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ فُورَكٍ أنبأ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ثنا يُونُسُ بْنُ حَبِيبٍ ثنا أَبُو دَاوُدَ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ ثنا وَرْقَاءُ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَيَّاشٍ الزُّرَقِيُّ قَالَ

كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ بِعُسْفَانَ فَحَضَرَتِ الصَّلَاةُ صَلَاةُ الظُّهْرِ وَعَلَى خَيْلِ الْمُشْرِكِينَ خَالِدُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ قَالَ فَصَلَّى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِأَصْحَابِهِ الظُّهْرَ قَالَ فَقَالَ الْمُشْرِكُونَ إِنَّ لَهُمْ صَلَاةً بَعْدَ هَذِهِ هِيَ أَحَبُّ إِلَيْهِمْ مِنْ أَبْنَائِهِمْ وَأَمْوَالِهِمْ وَأَنْفُسِهِمْ يَعْنُونَ صَلَاةَ الْعَصْرِ فَنَزَلَ جَبْرَئِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ بَيْنَ الظُّهْرِ وَالْعَصْرِ فَأَخْبَرَهُ وَنَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ {وَإِذَا كُنْتَ فِيهِمْ فَأَقَمْتَ لَهُمُ الصَّلَاةَ فَلْتَقُمْ طَائِفَةٌ مِنْهُمْ مَعَكَ وَلْيَأْخُذُوا أَسْلِحَتَهُمْ} [النساء 102] الْآيَةَ إِلَى آخِرِهَا فَحَضَرَتِ الصَّلَاةُ فَصَفَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ صَفَّينِ وَعَلَيْهِمُ السِّلَاحُ فَكَبَّرَ وَالْعَدُوُّ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَكَبَّرُوا جَمِيعًا وَرَكَعُوا جَمِيعًا ثُمَّ سَجَدَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَالصَّفُّ الَّذِي يَلِيهِ وَالْآخَرُونَ قِيَامًا يَحْرُسُونَهُ فَلَمَّا فَرَغَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قَامَ إِلَى الرَّكْعَةِ الثَّانِيَةِ وَسَجَدَ الْآخَرُونَ ثُمَّ تَقَدَّمَ هَؤُلَاءِ إِلَى مَصَافِّ هَؤُلَاءِ وَتَأَخَّرَ هَؤُلَاءِ إِلَى مَصَافِّ هَؤُلَاءِ فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ رَكْعَةً أُخْرَى فَرَكَعُوا جَمِيعًا ثُمَّ سَجَدَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَالصَّفُّ الَّذِي يَلِيهِ وَالْآخَرُونَ قِيَامًا يَحْرُسُونَهُمْ فَلَمَّا فَرَغُوا سَجَدَ هَؤُلَاءِ ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ أَبُو عَيَّاشٍ فَصَلَّى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ هَذِهِ الصَّلَاةَ مَرَّتَيْنِ مَرَّةً بِعُسْفَانَ وَمَرَّةً فِي أَرْضِ بَنِي سُلَيْمٍ

[Machine] There were some of the Prophet's companions who would tie their waist belts with the hilts of their swords. When the prayer time arrived, they would draw their swords and then pray. One of them, Abu Sa'ad al-Baqal, who was not strong, would take his sword or bow when the prayer time arrived and would pray with the Prophet.

كَانَ أُنَاسٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ يَرْبُطُونَ مَسَاوِيكَهُمْ بِذَوَائِبِ سُيُوفِهِمْ فَإِذَا حَضَرَتِ الصَّلَاةُ اسْتَاكُوا ثُمَّ صَلُّوا وَكَانَ أَحَدُهُمْ إِذَا حَضَرَتِ الصَّلَاةُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَكَانَ يَأْخُذُ سَيْفَهُ أَوْ قَوْسَهُ فَيُصَلِّي مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَبُو سَعْدٍ الْبَقَّالُ غَيْرُ قَوِيٍّ

[Machine] "In His statement, 'If any of you is ill, or has an ailment in his scalp, (necessitating shaving), (he should) in compensation either fast, or feed the poor, or offer sacrifice.' [Quran 2:196] Abdur-Rahman ibn Awf said, 'I was injured.' This was narrated by al-Bukhari in Sahih from Muhammad ibn Muqatal, from Ibn Jurayj."  

البيهقي:٦٠١٩أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ وَأَبُو نَصْرٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَحْمَدَ الْفَامِيُّ قَالَا ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الصَّغَانِيُّ ثنا حَجَّاجٌ قَالَ قَالَ ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ أَخْبَرَنِي يَعْلَى عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ

فِي قَوْلِهِ {إِنْ كَانَ بِكُمْ أَذًى مِنْ مَطَرٍ أَوْ كُنْتُمْ مَرْضَى أَنْ تَضَعُوا أَسْلِحَتَكُمْ} [النساء 102] قَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَوْفٍ ؓ كَانَ جَرِيحًا رَوَاهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مُقَاتِلٍ عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ

[Machine] He asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about praying in a bow, so he said: Pray in the bow and drop the horn, Musa ibn Muhammad is not strong.  

البيهقي:٦٠٢٠أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو عَمْرِو بْنُ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ الْمُقْرِئُ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ثنا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ أنبأ عُقْبَةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ السَّكُونِيُّ ثنا مُوسَى بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ الْأَكْوَعِ

أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ عَنِ الصَّلَاةِ فِي الْقَوْسِ فَقَالَ صَلِّ فِي الْقَوْسِ وَاطْرَحِ الْقَرْنَ مُوسَى بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ غَيْرُ قَوِيٍّ

[Machine] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ, similar to the statement of Mujahid, when they are mixed, it is only the Takbeer (saying Allahu Akbar) and signaling with the head. And the Prophet ﷺ added that if they increase in number, they should perform the prayer on their mounts or standing on their feet, meaning the prayer of fear.

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ بِمِثْلِ قَوْلِ مُجَاهِدٍ إِذَا اخْتَلَطُوا فَإِنَّمَا هُوَ التَّكْبِيرُ وَالْإِشَارَةُ بِالرَّأْسِ وَزَادَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَإِنْ كَثُرُوا فَلْيُصَلُّوا رُكْبَانًا أَوْ قِيَامًا عَلَى أَقْدَامِهِمْ يَعْنِي صَلَاةَ الْخَوْفِ

[Machine] About the Prophet ﷺ : "Even if they are more than that, let them pray standing and riding."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَإِنْ كَانُوا أَكْثَرَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ فَلْيُصَلُّوا قِيَامًا وَرُكْبَانًا

Abu Dawud said “I heard Muhammad bin Isa narrating this tradition who said Mu’tamar narrated it to us. And he (Mu’tamar) said “ I heard Al Hakam bin Aban narrating this tradition. He did not mention the name of Ibn ‘Abbas. Abu Dawud said “Al Hussain bin Huraith wrote to me saying “Al Fadl bin Musa narrated from Ibn ‘Abbas to the same effect from the Prophet ﷺ. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2225)   

البيهقي:٦٠٢٣أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْقَاضِي ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ أنبأ الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ أنبأ الشَّافِعِيُّ أنبأ مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ عَنْ نَافِعٍ أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ كَانَ إِذَا سُئِلَ عَنْ صَلَاةِ الْخَوْفِ قَالَ يَتَقَدَّمُ الْإِمَامُ وَطَائِفَةٌ ثُمَّ قَصَّ الْحَدِيثَ وَقَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ فِي الْحَدِيثِ فَإِنْ كَانَ خَوْفًا أَشَدَّ مِنْ ذَلِكَ صَلُّوا رِجَالًا وَرُكْبَانًا مُسْتَقْبِلِي الْقِبْلَةَ وَغَيْرَ مُسْتَقْبِلِيهَا قَالَ مَالِكٌ قَالَ نَافِعٌ لَا أَرَى عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ ذَكَرَ ذَلِكَ إِلَّا

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ

[Machine] He said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ called me and said, "It has reached me that Ibn Nubayh Al-Hudhali is gathering people to attack me while he is near a palm tree or an anthill. Go to him and kill him." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, describe him to me so that I may recognize him." He said, "The sign between you and him is that when you see him, you will find goosebumps on your skin." So, I left, putting on my sword, until I reached him while he was visiting a house in a village. It was the time for Asr prayer, and when I saw him, I found exactly what the Messenger of Allah described regarding the goosebumps. I approached him, fearing that engaging in an argument with him would distract me from praying, so I prayed while walking towards him, nodding with my head. When I reached him, he asked, "Who is the man?" I said, "A man from the Arabs who heard about you and your gathering for this man, so he came for that." He said, "Indeed, we were expecting that." Then I walked with him for a while, until I was able to carry the sword on him, and I killed him. Then I left, leaving his belongings scattered on him. When I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , he asked, "Was the face successful?" I said, "Indeed, I have killed him, O Messenger of Allah." He said, "You spoke the truth." Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up and entered his house, and he gave me a staff saying, "Hold onto this, O Abdullah bin Unays." So, I went out with it among the people, and they said, "Why do you carry this staff, O Abdullah bin Unays?" I said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave it to me and ordered me to hold onto it." They said, "Shouldn't you go back to him and ask him about it?" I said, "So, I returned to him and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, why did you give me this staff?'" He said, "It is a sign between you and me on the Day of Resurrection, and there will be very few people who will be given such a sign on that day." Then Abdullah bin Unays affixed the staff to his sword, and he kept it with him until he died. When he passed away, he was buried with it in his shroud. And that is the end.

أَنَّهُ قَالَ دَعَانِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ إِنَّهُ بَلَغَنِي أَنَّ ابْنَ نُبَيْحٍ الْهُذَلِيَّ يَجْمَعُ النَّاسَ لِيَغْزُوَنِي وَهُوَ بِنَخْلَةٍ أَوْ بِعُرَنَةَ فَأْتِهِ فَاقْتُلْهُ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ انْعَتْهُ لِي حَتَّى أَعْرِفَهُ قَالَ آيَةُ مَا بَيْنَكَ وَبَيْنَهُ أَنَّكَ إِذَا رَأَيْتَهُ وَجَدْتَ لَهُ قُشَعْرِيرَةً قَالَ فَخَرَجْتُ مُتَوَشِّحًا بِسَيْفِي حَتَّى دُفِعْتُ إِلَيْهِ فِي ظُعُنٍ يَرْتَادُ بِهِنَّ مَنْزِلًا حَتَّى كَانَ وَقْتُ الْعَصْرِ فَلَمَّا رَأَيْتُهُ وَجَدْتُ لَهُ مَا وَصَفَ لِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مِنَ الْقُشَعْرِيرَةِ فَأَقْبَلْتُ نَحْوَهُ وَخَشِيتُ أَنْ يَكُونَ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَهُ مُجَادَلَةٌ تَشْغَلُنِي عَنِ الصَّلَاةِ فَصَلَّيْتُ وَأَنَا أَمْشِي نَحْوَهُ أُومِئُ بِرَأْسِي إِيمَاءً فَلَمَّا انْتَهَيْتُ إِلَيْهِ قَالَ مَنِ الرَّجُلُ؟ قُلْتُ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْعَرَبِ سَمِعَ بِكَ وَبِجَمْعِكَ لِهَذَا الرَّجُلِ فَجَاءَ لِذَلِكَ قَالَ أَجَلْ نَحْنُ فِي ذَلِكَ قَالَ فَمَشَيْتُ مَعَهُ شَيْئًا حَتَّى إِذَا أَمْكَنَنِي حَمَلْتُ عَلَيْهِ بِالسَّيْفِ فَقَتَلْتُهُ ثُمَّ خَرَجْتُ وَتَرَكْتُ ظَعَايِنَهُ مُكِبَّاتٍ عَلَيْهِ فَلَمَّا قَدِمْتُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ أَفْلَحَ الْوَجْهُ ؟ قُلْتُ قَدْ قَتَلْتُهُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَالَ صَدَقْتَ ثُمَّ قَامَ بِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَدَخَلَ بَيْتَهُ فَأَعْطَانِي عَصًا فَقَالَ امْسِكْ هَذِهِ عِنْدَكَ يَا عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ أُنَيْسٍ فَخَرَجْتُ بِهَا عَلَى النَّاسِ فَقَالُوا مَا هَذِهِ الْعَصَا مَعَكَ يَا عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ أُنَيْسٍ؟ قُلْتُ أَعْطَانِيهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَأَمَرَنِي أَنْ أَمْسِكَهَا عِنْدِي قَالُوا أَفَلَا تَرْجِعْ إِلَيْهِ فَتَسْأَلْهُ عَنْ ذَلِكَ قَالَ فَرَجَعْتُ إِلَيْهِ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ لِمَ أَعْطَيْتَنِي هَذِهِ الْعَصَا؟ قَالَ آيَةُ مَا بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَكَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَإِنَّ أَقَلَّ النَّاسِ الْمُتَخَصِّرُونَ يَوْمَئِذٍ قَالَ فَقَرَنَهَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أُنَيْسٍ بِسَيْفِهِ فَلَمْ يَزَلْ مَعَهُ حَتَّى إِذَا مَاتَ أَمَرَ بِهَا فَضُمَّتْ مَعَهُ فِي كَفَنِهِ فَدُفِنَا جَمِيعًا وَكَذَلِكَ

We accompanied the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at Usfan, and Khalid ibn al-Walid was the chief of unbelievers. We offered the noon prayer. Thereupon, the unbelievers said: We suffered from negligence; we became careless. We should have attacked them while they were praying. Thereupon the verse was revealed, relating to the shortening of the prayer (in time of danger) between the noon and afternoon (prayer). When the time of the afternoon prayer came, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood facing the qiblah, and the unbelievers were standing in front of him. The people stood in a row behind the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and there was another row behind this row. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ bowed and all of them bowed. He then prostrated and also the row near him prostrated. The other people in the second row remained standing and stood guard over them. When they performed two prostrations and stood up, those who were behind them prostrated. The people in the front row near him then stepped backward taking the place of the people in the second row and the second row took the place of the first row. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then bowed and all of them bowed together. Then he and the row near him prostrated themselves. The other people in the second row remained standing and stood guard over them. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and the row near him (i.e. the front row) were seated, the people in the second row behind them prostrated themselves. Then all of them were seated. (He (the Prophet) then uttered the salutation upon all of them. He prayed in his manner at Usfan as well as at the territory of Banu Sulaym. Abu Dawud said: This tradition has been narrated by Ayyub and Hisham from Abu al-Zubair on the authority of Jabir to the same effect from the Prophet ﷺ. Similarly, this has been transmitted by Dawud b. Husain from 'Ikrimah, on the authority of Ibn 'Abbas. This has also been reported by 'Abd al-Malik, from 'Ata' from Jabir in like manner. This has also been narrated by Qatadah from al-Hasan from Hittan on the authority of Abu Musa in a similar way. Similarly, this has been reported by 'Ikrimah b. Khalid from Mujahid from the Prophet ﷺ. This has also been reported by Hisham b. 'Urwah from his father from the Prophet ﷺ. This is the opinion of al-Thawri. رَوَاهُ قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ جَرِيرٍ فَذَكَرَ فِيهِ سَمَاعَ مُجَاهِدٍ مِنْ أَبِي عَيَّاشٍ زَيْدِ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ الزُّرَقِيِّ وَقَدْ رَوَاهُ جَابِرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ

[Machine] I witnessed the prayer of fear with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . So we lined up behind the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in two rows, and the enemy was between us and the qiblah. The Prophet ﷺ made takbeer, and we all made takbeer. Then he bowed and we all bowed. Then he raised his head and we all raised our heads. Then the Prophet ﷺ prostrated, along with the row behind him, and the last row stood in the necks of the enemies. When the Prophet ﷺ finished his prostration and the row behind him, the last row prostrated. When they finished their prostration and stood up, the last row moved forward and the front row moved back. Then he bowed and we all bowed. Then he raised his head and we all raised our heads. Then the Prophet ﷺ prostrated, along with the row behind him, the front row which was initially behind in the first unit. When he finished his prostration and the row behind him, the last row prostrated. Jābir said, "This is how your guards act with their commanders." 6027  

البيهقي:٦٠٢٦أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو صَالِحِ بْنُ أَبِي طَاهِرٍ الْعَنْبَرِيُّ أنبأ جَدِّي يَحْيَى بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ الْقَاضِي ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ثنا هَنَّادُ بْنُ السَّرِيُّ التَّمِيمِيُّ أنبأ عَبْدَةُ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ عَنْ عَطَاءٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ

شَهِدْتُ صَلَاةَ الْخَوْفِ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَصَفَفْنَا خَلْفَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ صَفَّينِ وَكَانَ الْعَدُوُّ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَ الْقِبْلَةِ فَكَبَّرَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ وَكَبَّرْنَا جَمِيعًا ثُمَّ رَكَعَ وَرَكَعْنَا جَمِيعًا ثُمَّ رَفَعَ وَرَفَعْنَا جَمِيعًا ثُمَّ انْحَدَرَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بِالسُّجُودِ وَالصَّفُّ الَّذِي يَلِيهِ وَقَامَ الصَّفُّ الْمُؤَخَّرُ فِي نَحْرِ الْعَدُوِّ فَلَمَّا قَضَى النَّبِيُّ ﷺ السُّجُودَ وَالصَّفُّ الَّذِي يَلِيهِ وَقَامُوا انْحَدَرَ الصَّفُّ الْمُؤَخَّرُ بِالسُّجُودِ فَلَمَّا قَضَوْا سُجُودَهُمْ وَقَامُوا تَقَدَّمَ الصَّفُّ الْمُؤَخَّرُ وَتَأَخَّرَ الصَّفُّ الْمُقَدَّمُ ثُمَّ رَكَعَ وَرَكَعْنَا جَمِيعًا ثُمَّ رَفَعَ وَرَفَعْنَا جَمِيعًا ثُمَّ انْحَدَرَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بِالسُّجُودِ وَالصَّفُّ الَّذِي يَلِيهِ وَقَامَ الصَّفُّ الْمُؤَخَّرُ فِي نَحْرِ الْعَدُوِّ فَلَمَّا قَضَى النَّبِيُّ ﷺ السُّجُودَ وَالصَّفُّ الَّذِي يَلِيهِ وَقَامُوا انْحَدَرَ الصَّفُّ الْمُؤَخَّرُ بِالسُّجُودِ فَلَمَّا قَضَوْا سُجُودَهُمْ وَقَامُوا تَقَدَّمَ الصَّفُّ الْمُؤَخَّرُ وَتَأَخَّرَ الصَّفُّ الْمُقَدَّمُ ثُمَّ رَكَعَ وَرَكَعْنَا جَمِيعًا ثُمَّ رَفَعَ وَرَفَعْنَا جَمِيعًا ثُمَّ انْحَدَرَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بِالسُّجُودِ وَالصَّفُّ الَّذِي يَلِيهِ الْمُقَدَّمُ الَّذِي كَانَ مُؤَخَّرًا فِي الرَّكْعَةِ الْأُولَى فَلَمَّا قَضَى السُّجُودَ وَالصَّفُّ الَّذِي يَلِيهِ انْحَدَرَ الصَّفُّ الْمُؤَخَّرُ بِالسُّجُودِ فَسَجَدُوا قَالَ جَابِرٌ كَمَا يَصْنَعُ حَرَسُكُمْ هَؤُلَاءِ بِأُمَرَائِهِمْ 6027 وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو صَالِحٍ أنبأ جَدِّي ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ الْعَبْدِيُّ ثنا يَحْيَى يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَعِيدٍ الْقَطَّانَ ثنا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ ثنا عَطَاءٌ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ أَنَّهُ صَلَّى مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ صَلَاةَ الْخَوْفِ فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ بِمَعْنَاهُ وَزَادَ فِي آخِرِهِ ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ وَسَلَّمْنَا جَمِيعًا قَالَ جَابِرٌ كَمَا يَفْعَلُ حَرَسُكُمْ هَذَا بِأُمَرَائِهِمْ

We fought In the company of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with the tribe of Juhaina. They fought with us terribly. When we had finished the noon prayer, the polytheists said: Had we attacked them at once. we would have killed them. Gabriel informed the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about It (about their evil design). The Messenger of Allah ﷺ made a mention of it to us, adding that they (the polytheists) had also said: Shortly there would be time for the 'Asr prayer. which is dearer o them (the Muslims) than even their children. So when the time of the 'Asr prayer came. we formed ourselves into two rows, while the polytheists were between us and the Qibla. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Allah is Most Great, and we also said so. He bowed and we also bowed. He went down in prostration and the first row prostrated along with him. When they stood up, the second row went down in prostration. Then the first row went into the rear, and the second row came in the front and occupied the place of the first row. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then said: Allah is Most Great, and we also said so. He then bowed, and we also bowed. He then went down in prostration and along with him the row also (went down in prostration), and the second row remained standing. And when the second row had also prostrated and all of them sat down then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ pronounced salutation to them. Abu Zubair said: Jabir made a mention specially of this thing: just as your chiefs observe prayer. (Using translation from Muslim 840b)

غَزَوْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَوْمًا مِنْ جُهَيْنَةَ فَقَاتَلُوا قِتَالًا شَدِيدًا فَلَمَّا صَلَّيْنَا الظُّهْرَ قَالَ الْمُشْرِكُونَ لَوْ مِلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ مَيْلَةً لَاقْتَطَعْنَاهُمْ فَأَخْبَرَ جَبْرَئِيلُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ بِذَلِكَ فَذَكَرَ ذَلِكَ لَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ وَقَالُوا إِنَّهُ سَيَأْتِيهِمْ صَلَاةٌ هِيَ أَحَبُّ إِلَيْهِمْ مِنَ الْأَوْلَادِ يَعْنِي الْعَصْرَ فَلَمَّا حَضَرَتِ الصَّلَاةُ صَفَّنَا صَفَّينِ وَالْمُشْرِكُونَ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَ الْقِبْلَةِ قَالَ فَكَبَّرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَكَبَّرْنَا وَرَكَعَ وَرَكَعْنَا ثُمَّ سَجَدَ وَسَجَدَ مَعَهُ الصَّفُّ الْأَوَّلِ فَلَمَّا قَامُوا سَجَدَ الصَّفُّ الثَّانِي ثُمَّ تَأَخَّرَ الصَّفُّ الْأَوَّلُ وَتَقَدَّمَ الصَّفُّ الثَّانِي فَقَامُوا مَقَامَ الْأَوَّلِ فَكَبَّرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَكَبَّرْنَا وَرَكَعَ وَرَكَعْنَا ثُمَّ سَجَدَ وَسَجَدَ مَعَهُ الصَّفُّ الْأَوَّلُ وَقَامَ الثَّانِي فَلَمَّا سَجَدَ الصَّفُّ الثَّانِي ثُمَّ جَلَسُوا جَمِيعًا سَلَّمَ عَلَيْهِمْ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ ثُمَّ خَصَّ جَابِرٌ أَنْ قَالَ كَمَا يُصَلِّي أُمَرَاؤُكُمْ هَؤُلَاءِ

[Machine] The Prophet of Allah ﷺ stood up, and the people stood up with him. He said the takbir (saying "Allahu Akbar") and they also said takbir. Then he went into the ruku' (bowing position) and they went into ruku' with him, some of them. Then he went into sujud (prostration) and they went into sujud. Then he stood up for the second raka'ah (unit of prayer) and those who had prostrated with him stayed back and guarded their brothers. Then another group came and they went into ruku' and sujud with the Prophet ﷺ , and all the people were in prayer, saying takbir, but some of them were guarding each other. Abu Bakr ibn al-Harith al-Faqih informed us, Ali ibn 'Umar al-Hafiz narrated to us, Ibn Sa'id narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Awf narrated to us, Haywah ibn Shuraih narrated to us, and Muhammad ibn Harb mentioned it with its chain of narration in a similar manner.

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah commanded the prayer of fear, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood and we stood behind him in two rows. He said the takbir and bowed, and we all bowed in both rows. Then he raised his head and then prostrated, and the row behind him prostrated, while the others remained standing guarding their brothers. When he finished his prostration and stood up, the rear row prostrated, so they made two prostrations. Then they stood up and the front row, which was behind him, moved forward and bowed, and we all bowed. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ and the row behind him prostrated, while the others remained standing guarding their brothers. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sat down, the rear row prostrated, and they prostrated. Then the Prophet ﷺ gave the salutation, and this is how it was.

"The fear prayer was no more than two prostrations like the prayer of these guards of yours today behind the Imams of yours, except that it was one group after another. One group stood, although they were all behind the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and one group prostrated with him, then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up and they all stood with him. Then he bowed and they all bowed with him, then he prostrated and those who had been standing the first time prostrated with him. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and those who had prostrated with him at the end of their prayer sat, those who had been standing prostrated by themselves, then they sat and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said the taslim with all of them. [Machine] We accompanied the Messenger of Allah ﷺ until we reached a certain plain. Whenever we would come across a shaded tree, we would leave it for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. So a man from the polytheists came and found the sword of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ hanging from a tree. He took the sword of the Prophet of Allah ﷺ and unsheathed it. He then said to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, "Are you afraid of me?" The Prophet of Allah ﷺ replied, "No." The man asked, "Then who will protect you from me?" The Prophet of Allah ﷺ replied, "Allah will protect me from you." Upon hearing this, the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ threatened the man. The man sheathed the sword and placed it back on the tree. Then, the call for prayer was made. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed two units of prayer, then delayed, and then prayed another two units of prayer with the other group. So the Prophet of Allah ﷺ prayed four units of prayer, while the others prayed two units of prayer.  

البيهقي:٦٠٣٣أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ أنبأ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الصَّغَانِيُّ ثنا عَفَّانُ ثنا أَبَانُ الْعَطَّارُ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ

أَقْبَلْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ حَتَّى إِذَا كُنَّا بِذَاتِ الرِّقَاعِ كُنَّا إِذَا أَتَيْنَا شَجَرَةً ظَلِيلَةً تَرَكْنَاهَا لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ فَجَاءَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ وَسَيْفُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ مُعَلَّقٌ بِشَجَرَةٍ فَأَخَذَ سَيْفَ نَبِيِّ اللهِ ﷺ فَاخْتَرَطَهُ فَقَالَ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ تَخَافُنِي؟ قَالَ لَا قَالَ فَمَنْ يمْنَعُكَ مِنِّي؟ قَالَ اللهُ يَمْنَعُنِي مِنْكَ قَالَ فَتَهَدَّدَهُ أَصْحَابُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ فَغَمَدَ السَّيْفَ وَعَلَّقَهُ قَالَ فَنُودِيَ بِالصَّلَاةِ قَالَ فَصَلَّى بِطَائِفَةٍ رَكْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ تَأَخَّرُوا فَصَلَّى بِالطَّائِفَةِ الْأُخْرَى رَكْعَتَيْنِ قَالَ فَكَانَتْ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَرْبَعُ رَكَعَاتٍ وَلِلْقَوْمِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ  

رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ عَنْ عَفَّانَ وَأَخْرَجَهُ أَيْضًا مِنْ حَدِيثِ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ سَلَّامٍ عَنْ يَحْيَى وَكَذَلِكَ رَوَاهُ سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ قَيْسٍ الْيَشْكُرِيُّ عَنْ جَابِرٍ وَقَالَ حَارَبَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مُحَارِبَ خَصَفَةَ فَجَاءَ رَجُلٌ مِنْهُمْ ثُمَّ ذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ بِمَعْنَاهُ وَأَتَمَّ مِنْهُ وَرُوِيَ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ led his companions in offering the fear prayer. One group prayed with him while the other was facing the enemy. He led them in praying two rak'ahs, then they went and took the place of the others, and the others came and he led them in praying two rak'ahs, then he said the taslim. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1554)   

البيهقي:٦٠٣٤أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْفَتْحِ هِلَالُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ الْحَفَّارُ بِبَغْدَادَ أنبأ الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ عَيَّاشٍ الْقَطَّانُ أنبأ أَبُو الْأَشْعَثِ ثنا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى عَنْ يُونُسَ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ قَالَ حَدَّثَ جَابِرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ صَلَّى بِأَصْحَابِهِ فَصَلَّتْ طَائِفَةٌ مِنْهُمْ مَعَهُ وَطَائِفَةٌ وَجُوهُهُمْ قِبَلَ الْعَدُوِّ فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ رَكْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ قَامُوا وَجَاءَ الْآخَرُونَ فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَسَلَّمَ وَقِيلَ فِيهِ عَنْ يُونُسَ بِبَطْنِ نَخْلٍ

[Machine] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed two units of prayer with some of his companions, then he made the Salam (ending the prayer) and then he prayed two units of prayer with others, then he made the Salam. This is narrated from Al-Hasan on the authority of Jabir, and Ash'ath contradicted them and narrated it from Al-Hasan on the authority of Abu Bakrah, and Abu Hurrah Al-Raqashi agreed with him on that.  

البيهقي:٦٠٣٥وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يُوسُفَ السُّوسِيُّ ثنا أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْبَغْدَادِيُّ ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ثنا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ صَلَّى بِأَصْحَابِهِ بِطَائِفَةٍ مِنْهُمْ رَكْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ ثُمَّ صَلَّى بِالْآخَرِينَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ هَكَذَا رَوَيَاهُ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ وَخَالَفَهُمَا أَشْعَثُ فَرَوَاهُ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ أَبِي بَكَرَةَ وَوَافَقَهُ عَلَى ذَلِكَ أَبُو حُرَّةَ الرَّقَاشِيُّ

[Machine] It was narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed two units, then he said the salaam. The others came and he prayed two units with them, then he said the salaam. So, the total number of units of prayer for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was four, and for the Muslims it was two units each in the prayer of fear. 6037, and likewise...  

البيهقي:٦٠٣٦أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْقَاضِي وَأَبُو مُحَمَّدِ بْنُ أَبِي حَامِدٍ الْمُقْرِئُ وَأَبُو صَادِقِ بْنُ أَبِي الْفَوَارِسِ الصَّيْدَلَانِيُّ قَالُوا ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مَرْزُوقٍ الْبَصْرِيُّ ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ عَنِ الْأَشْعَثِ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ أَبِي بَكَرَةَ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ صَلَّى بِبَعْضِهِمْ رَكْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ فَتَأَخَّرُوا وَجَاءَ الْآخَرُونَ فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ رَكْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ فَكَانَتْ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَرْبَعَ رَكَعَاتٍ وَلِلْمُسْلِمِينَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ فِي صَلَاةِ الْخَوْفِ 6037 وَكَذَلِكَ  

رَوَاهُ مُعَاذُ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ عَنِ الْأَشْعَثِ وَقَالَ فِي الظُّهْرِ وَزَادَ قَالَ وَبِذَلِكَ كَانَ يُفْتِي الْحَسَنُ وَكَذَلِكَ فِي الْمَغْرِبِ يَكُونُ لِلْإِمَامِ سِتُّ رَكَعَاتٍ وَلِلْقَوْمِ ثَلَاثًا ثَلَاثًا أَخْبَرَنَا بِذَلِكَ أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الرُّوذْبَارِيُّ أنبأ أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ دَاسَةَ ثنا أَبُو دَاوُدَ ثنا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ ثنا أَبِي ثنا الْأَشْعَثُ فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ بِمَعْنَاهُ وَاللَّفْظُ مُخْتَلِفٌ وَذَكَرَ هَذِهِ الزِّيَادَةَ وَقَوْلُهُ وَكَذَلِكَ فِي الْمَغْرِبِ وَجَدْتُهُ فِي كِتَابِي مَوْصُولًا بِالْحَدِيثِ وَكَأَنَّهُ مِنْ قَوْلِ الْأَشْعَثِ وَهُوَ فِي بَعْضِ النُّسَخِ قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ وَكَذَلِكَ فِي الْمَغْرِبِ وَقَدْ رَوَاهُ بَعْضُ النَّاسِ عَنْ أَشْعَثَ فِي الْمَغْرِبِ مَرْفُوعًا وَلَا أَظُنُّهُ إِلَّا وَاهِمًا فِي ذَلِكَ

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ prayed with the people in fear the Maghrib prayer three units, then he turned and the others came and he prayed with them three units.

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ صَلَّى بِالْقَوْمِ فِي الْخَوْفِ صَلَاةَ الْمَغْرِبِ ثَلَاثَ رَكَعَاتٍ ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ وَجَاءَ الْآخَرُونَ فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ ثَلَاثَ رَكَعَاتٍ

"I went out on a campaign with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ toward Najd. We confronted the enemy and formed ranks facing them. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up and led us in prayer. Some of us stood with him and some of us faced the enemy. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ bowed and those who were with him bowed, and prostrated twice. Then they moved away and took the place of the others, and the other group who had not prayed came and he led them in bowing once and prostrating twice. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said the salam and each of the Muslims stood up and bowed once, and prostrated twice individually." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1539)

غَزَوْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ غَزْوَةً قِبَلَ نَجْدٍ فَوَافَيْنَا الْعَدُوَّ فَصَافَفْنَاهُمْ فَقَامَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَصَلَّى لَنَا فَقَامَتْ طَائِفَةٌ مِنَّا مَعَهُ وَأَقْبَلَتْ طَائِفَةٌ عَلَى الْعَدُوِّ فَرَكَعَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِمَنْ مَعَهُ رَكْعَةً وَسَجْدَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ انْصَرَفُوا فَكَانُوا مَكَانَ الطَّائِفَةِ الَّتِي لَمْ تُصَلِّ وَجَاءَتِ الطَّائِفَةُ الَّتِي لَمْ تُصَلِّ فَرَكَعَ بِهِمْ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ رَكْعَةً وَسَجْدَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَقَامَ كُلُّ رَجُلٍ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ فَرَكَعَ لِنَفْسِهِ رَكْعَةً وَسَجْدَتَيْنِ

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ led one section in one rak'ah of prayer and the other section was facing the enemy. Then they turned away and took the position of the other section. They (the other section) came and he (the Prophet) led them in the second rak'ah. He then uttered the salutation. Thereafter they stood up and completed the remaining rak'ah, they went away and the other section completed their remaining rak'ah. Abu Dawud said: This tradition has been narrated by Nafi' and Khalid b. Ma'dan from Ibn 'Umar in like manner from the Prophet ﷺ. This has also been transmitted similarly by Masruq ad Yusuf b. Mihran on the authority of Ibn 'Abbas. This has been narrated by Yunus from al-Hasan from Abu Musa something similarly, saying that Abu Musa has done so. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1243)

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ صَلَّى صَلَاةَ الْخَوْفِ بِإِحْدَى الطَّائِفَتَيْنِ رَكْعَةً وَالطَّائِفَةُ الْأُخْرَى مُوَاجِهَةٌ الْعَدُوَّ ثُمَّ انْصَرَفُوا فَقَامُوا فِي مَقَامِ أُولَئِكَ وَجَاءَ أُولَئِكَ فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ رَكْعَةً أُخْرَى ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ عَلَيْهِمْ ثُمَّ قَامَ هَؤُلَاءِ فَقَضَوْا رَكْعَتَهُمْ وَقَامَ هَؤُلَاءِ فَقَضَوْا رَكْعَتَهُمْ

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ performed the prayer of fear, so a group stood with him and another group stood between them and the enemy. He prayed one unit of prayer with them, then these (ones) went to the rows of those (ones), and those (ones) came to the rows of these (ones), and he prayed one unit of prayer with them. Then, he greeted them, and then each group completed (their prayer) by praying two more units of prayer each. It was reported to us by Abu Al-Husayn, who narrated from Sulayman, who narrated from Ubaid bin Ghannam, who narrated from Abu Bakr bin Abi Shaybah, who narrated from Yahya bin Adam, who narrated from Sufyan, who narrated from Musa bin Uqbah, who narrated from Nafi, who narrated from Ibn Umar, who narrated from the Prophet ﷺ a similar narration.  

البيهقي:٦٠٤١أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ عَبْدَانَ أنبأ سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ثنا حَفْصُ بْنُ عُمَرَ ثنا قَبِيصَةُ ثنا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ عُقْبَةَ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ

صَلَّى النَّبِيُّ ﷺ صَلَاةَ الْخَوْفِ فَقَامَتْ طَائِفَةٌ مَعَهُ وَطَائِفَةٌ مِنْهُمْ فِيمَا بَيْنَهُمْ وَبَيْنَ الْعَدُوِّ فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ رَكْعَةً ثُمَّ ذَهَبَ هَؤُلَاءِ إِلَى مَصَافِّ هَؤُلَاءِ وَجَاءَ هَؤُلَاءِ إِلَى مَصَافِّ هَؤُلَاءِ فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ رَكْعَةً ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ عَلَيْهِمْ ثُمَّ قَضَتِ الطَّائِفَتَانِ رَكْعَةً رَكْعَةً 6042 وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحُسَيْنِ أنبأ سُلَيْمَانُ ثنا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ غَنَّامٍ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ عُقْبَةَ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ مِثْلَهُ  

رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ فِي الصَّحِيحِ 6043 عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ وَزَادَ فِيهِ قَالَ وَقَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ فَإِذَا كَانَ خَوْفٌ أَكْثَرُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ يُصَلِّي رَاكِبًا أَوْ قَائِمًا يُوْمِئُ إِيمَاءً أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ أنبأ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْكَعْبِيُّ ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ قُتَيْبَةَ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ فَذَكَرَهُ بِمَعْنَاهُ وَبِزِيَادَتِهِ

[Machine] Translation: He said, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ led us in a prayer of fear. So, he arranged us in two rows, one row behind and one row facing the enemy. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then made takbeer with the two rows behind him and prayed a unit of prayer and two prostrations. Then, they returned to their positions and the others came forward, and he prayed a unit of prayer and two prostrations with them. Then, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ made tasleem, and those who were behind him prayed a unit of prayer and two prostrations for themselves and then returned to their positions. The others came forward and prayed a unit of prayer and two prostrations for themselves. Khushayf and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ were between the enemy and the qiblah. Ath-Thawri narrated it from Khushayf and mentioned in the hadith that there was a row behind him and a row parallel to the enemy, and all in prayer. Shareek narrated it from Khushayf and mentioned in the hadith that the Prophet ﷺ made takbeer, and the two rows made takbeer as well. This hadith is mursal (a type of hadith), Abu Ubaidah did not meet his father, and Khushayf al-Jazari is not considered strong. Abu Dawud as-Sijistani said so.  

البيهقي:٦٠٤٤أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ جَنَاحُ بْنُ نُذَيْرِ بْنِ جَنَاحٍ الْقَاضِي بِالْكُوفَةِ أنبأ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ دُحَيْمٍ الشَّيْبَانِيُّ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَازِمٍ أنبأ أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ ثنا عَبْدُ السَّلَامِ بْنُ حَرْبٍ عَنْ خُصَيْفٍ عَنْ أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ

أَنَّهُ قَالَ صَلَّى بِنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ صَلَاةَ الْخَوْفِ فَصَفَفْنَا صَفَّينِ صَفٌّ خَلْفَ وَصَفٌّ مُوَاجِهَ الْعَدُوِّ فَكَبَّرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِالصَّفَّينِ خَلْفَهُ فَصَلَّى بِالَّذِينَ خَلْفَهُ رَكْعَةً وَسَجْدَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ انْصَرَفُوا إِلَى مَقَامِ إِخْوَانِهِمْ وَأَقْبَلَ الْآخَرُونَ يَتَخَلَّلُونَهُمْ فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ رَكْعَةً وَسَجْدَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَصَلُّوا الَّذِينَ خَلْفَهُ لِأَنْفُسِهِمْ رَكْعَةً وَسَجْدَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ انْصَرَفُوا إِلَى مَصَافِّهِمْ وَأَقْبَلَ الْآخَرُونَ فَصَلُّوا لِأَنْفُسِهِمْ رَكْعَةً وَسَجْدَتَيْنِ قَالَ خُصَيْفٌ وَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بَيْنَ الْعَدُوِّ وَبَيْنَ الْقِبْلَةِ وَرَوَاهُ الثَّوْرِيُّ عَنْ خُصَيْفٍ وَقَالَ فِي الْحَدِيثِ صَفٌّ خَلْفَهُ وَصَفٌّ مُوَازِي الْعَدُوِّ وَكُلٌّ فِي صَلَاةٍ وَرَوَاهُ شَرِيكٌ عَنْ خُصَيْفٍ وَقَالَ فِي الْحَدِيثِ فَكَبَّرَ نَبِيُّ اللهِ ﷺ فَكَبَّرَ الصَّفَّانِ جَمِيعًا وَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ مُرْسَلٌ أَبُوعُبَيْدَةَ لَمْ يُدْرِكْ أَبَاهُ وَخَصِيفٌ الْجَزَرِيُّ لَيْسَ بِالْقَوِيِّ قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ السِّجِسْتَانِيُّ

[Machine] That the group who prayed with them one unit of prayer, then said salaam and went to their own positions, and these (other) people prayed by themselves one unit of prayer, then returned to their own positions and prayed one unit of prayer for themselves. It has been narrated to us by Muslim ibn Ibrahim, narrated to us by Abdul Samad ibn Habib, narrated to me by my father, that they joined in the expedition with Abdur Rahman ibn Sumrah al-Kabuli and he led us in the prayer of fear. It has been narrated to us by Abu Ali al-Rudhbari, narrated to us by Abu Bakr ibn Dasa, narrated to us by Abu Dawud, and he mentioned this.  

البيهقي:٦٠٤٥وَصَلَّى عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ سَمُرَةَ هَكَذَا إِلَّا

أَنَّ الطَّائِفَةَ الَّتِي صَلَّى بِهِمْ رَكْعَةً ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ مَضَوْا إِلَى مَقَامِ أَصْحَابِهِمْ وَجَاءَ هَؤُلَاءِ فَصَلُّوا لِأَنْفُسِهِمْ رَكْعَةً ثُمَّ رَجَعُوا إِلَى مَقَامِ أُولَئِكَ فَصَلُّوا لِأَنْفُسِهِمْ رَكْعَةً حَدَّثَنَا بِذَلِكَ مُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ثنا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ بْنُ حَبِيبٍ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبِي أَنَّهُمْ غَزَوْا مَعَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ كَابُلَ فَصَلَّى بِنَا صَلَاةَ الْخَوْفِ أَخْبَرَنَاهُ أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الرُّوذْبَارِيُّ أنبأ أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ دَاسَةَ ثنا أَبُو دَاوُدَ فَذَكَرَهُ

[Machine] Said bin Al-Aas said, "Who among you witnessed the prayer of fear with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?" Huzaifa said, "I did." So, a row stood behind him, parallel to the enemy, and he prayed one rak'ah with them. Then, they went to their positions and those people came forward, so he prayed one rak'ah with them. Then, he gave the salutations to both groups. Yahya bin Said Al-Qattan narrated it from Sufyan, except that he said, "Huzaifa stood up and arranged the people behind him in two rows, one behind him and one parallel to the enemy. He prayed one rak'ah with those behind him, then he turned to those people and they prayed one rak'ah with him, but they did not complete 6047." Abu Al-Hasan Ali bin Muhammad Al-Muqri informed us, Al-Hasan bin Muhammad bin Ishaq narrated to us, Yusuf bin Ya'qub narrated to us, Muhammad bin Abi Bakr narrated to us, and Yahya bin Said informed me, Sufyan mentioned it like this.  

البيهقي:٦٠٤٦أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ وَأَبُو سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي عَمْرٍو قَالَا ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثنا أَسِيدُ بْنُ عَاصِمٍ ثنا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ حَفْصٍ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ أَخْبَرَنِي الْأَشْعَثُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ سُلَيْمٍ عَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ بْنِ هِلَالٍ عَنْ ثَعْلَبَةَ بْنِ زَهْدَمٍ الْحَنْظَلِيِّ قَالَ كُنَّا مَعَ حُذَيْفَةَ بِطَبَرِسْتَانَ فَقَالَ

سَعِيدُ بْنُ الْعَاصِ أَيُّكُمْ شَهِدَ صَلَاةَ الْخَوْفِ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ؟ فَقَالَ حُذَيْفَةُ أَنَا فَقَامَ صَفٌّ خَلْفَهُ وَصَفٌّ مُوَازِي الْعَدُوِّ فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ رَكْعَةً ثُمَّ ذَهَبَ هَؤُلَاءِ إِلَى مَصَافِّهِمْ وَجَاءَ أُولَئِكِ فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ رَكْعَةً ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ عَلَيْهِمْ وَرَوَاهُ يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْقَطَّانُ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ إِلَّا أَنَّهُ قَالَ فَقَامَ حُذَيْفَةُ وَصَفَّ النَّاسَ خَلْفَهُ صَفَّينِ صَفًّا خَلْفَهُ وَصَفًّا مُوَازِي الْعَدُوِّ وَصَلَّى بِالَّذِينَ خَلْفَهُ رَكْعَةً ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ هَؤُلَاءِ إِلَى مَكَانِ هَؤُلَاءِ وَجَاءَ أُولَئِكَ فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ رَكْعَةً وَلَمْ يَقْضُوا 6047 أَخْبَرَنَاهُ أَبُو الْحَسَنِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْمُقْرِئُ أنبأ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ ثنا يُوسُفُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ حَدَّثَنِي سُفْيَانُ فَذَكَرَهُ كَذَا  

رَوَاهُ ثَعْلَبَةُ بْنُ زَهْدَمٍ مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ عَنْهُ وَقَدْ رُوِّينَاهُ مِنْ حَدِيثِ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ سُلَيْمِ بْنِ عَبْدٍ السَّلُولِيِّ قَالَ كُنْتُ مَعَ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْعَاصِ بِطَبَرِسْتَانَ فَقَالَ لَهُمْ سَعِيدٌ أَيُّكُمْ شَهِدَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ صَلَاةَ الْخَوْفِ فَقَالَ حُذَيْفَةُ أَنَا فَذَكَرَ صَلَاةً مِثْلَ صَلَاةِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ بِعُسْفَانَ فَقَوْلُ الرَّاوِي فِي رِوَايَةِ ثَعْلَبَةَ صَفٌّ مُوَازِي الْعَدُوِّ يُرِيدُ بِهِ حَالَ السُّجُودِ وَقَوْلُهُ ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ هَؤُلَاءِ إِلَى مَكَانِ هَؤُلَاءِ وَجَاءَ أُولَئِكَ يُرِيدُ بِهِ تَقَدَّمَ الصَّفُّ الْمُؤَخَّرُ وَتَأَخَّرَ الصَّفُّ الْمُقَدَّمُ بَعْدَ الْفَرَاغِ مِنَ الرَّكْعَةِ الْأُولَى وَفِي ذَلِكَ قَضَاءُ الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ مَعَ الْإِمَامِ فَلَا يَحْتَاجُونَ إِلَى قَضَاءِ شَيْءٍ بَعْدَهُ وَذَلِكَ بَيِّنٌ فِي رِوَايَةِ سُلَيْمِ بْنِ عَبْدٍ عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ وَتِلْكَ الْقِصَّةُ وَهَذِهِ وَاحِدَةٌ فَوَجَبَ حَمْلُ إِحْدَى الرِّوَايَتَيْنِ عَلَى الْأُخْرَى مَعَ مَا فِيهِ مِنَ الِاتِّفَاقِ لِسَائِرِ الرِّوَايَاتِ وَبِاللهِ التَّوْفِيقُ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed the prayer of fear with a group carrying monkeys. He lined them up in rows, with a row parallel to the enemy. He prayed a Rak'ah with them, then these people went to the forefront, and those people came and prayed a Rak'ah with the Prophet ﷺ , then they greeted him. Sufyan said: The Prophet ﷺ prayed two Rak'ahs and each group prayed one Rak'ah.

صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ صَلَاةُ الْخَوْفِ بِذِي قَرَدٍ فَصَفَّ خَلْفَهُ صَفٌّ وَصَفٌّ مُوَازِي الْعَدُوِّ فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ رَكْعَةً ثُمَّ ذَهَبَ هَؤُلَاءِ إِلَى مَصَافِّ أُولَئِكَ وَجَاءَ أُولَئِكَ فَصَلُّوا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ رَكْعَةً ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ عَلَيْهِمْ قَالَ سُفْيَانُ فَكَانَ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَلِكُلِّ طَائِفَةٍ رَكْعَةٌ

[Machine] Al-Shafi'i said, and a hadith has been narrated that scholars do not rely on any other hadith like it, that the Prophet ﷺ prayed with a group, he performed one unit of prayer and then said salaam, and then he performed another unit of prayer and then said salaam. So the imam had two units of prayer, and each group had one unit of prayer. Al-Shafi'i said, "We leave this practice because all the hadiths regarding the prayer of fear agree that the followers should perform the same number of prayer units as the imam. And this is also the basis of the obligatory prayer, that the number of units is the same for everyone. We do not have any evidence similar to this for any other matter in its chain of narrators." The scholar said, "This is a hadith that neither Bukhari nor Muslim have included in their books, and it is only Abu Bakr ibn Abi al-Jahm who claims it. Ibn Abi Abdullah reported it in this manner, and it is possible that his prayer was like that when he was in Usfan, because his statement 'then they went to the front rows, and those came to the back rows' refers to the arrangement of the rows, and the time of guarding one of the two rows. Al-Zuhri narrated it from Ibn Abbas, which indicates that there are differences in his narration from al-Zuhri's, concerning the timing of guarding one of the two rows. And it was also narrated by Ikrimah from Ibn Abbas. The mention of these narrations is evidence of the authenticity of this interpretation, and the same can also be inferred from them."  

البيهقي:٦٠٤٩أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ أنبأ الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ قَالَ

قَالَ الشَّافِعِيُّ وَقَدْ رُوِيَ حَدِيثٌ لَا يُثْبِتُ أَهْلُ الْعِلْمِ بِالْحَدِيثِ مِثْلَهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ صَلَّى بِذِي قَرَدٍ بِطَائِفَةٍ رَكْعَةً ثُمَّ سَلَّمُوا وَبِطَائِفَةٍ رَكْعَةً ثُمَّ سَلَّمُوا فَكَانَتْ لِلْإِمَامِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَلِكُلِّ طَائِفَةٍ رَكْعَةٌ قَالَ الشَّافِعِيُّ وَإِنَّمَا تَرَكْنَاهُ لِأَنَّ جَمِيعَ الْأَحَادِيثِ فِي صَلَاةِ الْخَوْفِ مُجْتَمِعَةٌ عَلَى أَنَّ عَلَى الْمَأْمُومِينَ مِنْ عَدَدِ الصَّلَاةِ مَا عَلَى الْإِمَامِ وَكَذَلِكَ أَصْلُ الْفَرْضِ فِي الصَّلَاةِ عَلَى النَّاسِ وَاحِدٌ فِي الْعَدَدِ وَلَأَنَّهُ لَا يَثْبُتَ عِنْدَنَا مِثْلُهُ لِشَيْءٍ فِي بَعْضِ إِسْنَادِهِ قَالَ الشَّيْخُ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ لَمْ يُخْرِجْهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ وَلَا مُسْلِمٌ فِي كِتَابَيْهِمَا وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي الْجَهْمِ يَتَفَرَّدُ بِذَلِكَ هَكَذَا عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ وَقَدْ يَحْتَمِلُ أَنْ يَكُونَ مِثْلَ صَلَاتِهِ بِعُسْفَانَ فَإِنَّ قَوْلَهُ ثُمَّ ذَهَبَ هَؤُلَاءِ إِلَى مَصَافِّ أُولَئِكَ وَجَاءَ أُولَئِكَ أَرَادَ بِهِ فِي تَقَدُّمِ الصَّفِّ الْمُؤَخَّرِ وَتَأَخُّرِ الصَّفِّ الْمُقَدَّمِ وَقَدْ رَوَى الزُّهْرِيُّ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ مَا دَلَّ عَلَى ذَلِكَ مَعَ اخْتِلَافٍ فِيهِ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ وَقْتَ حِرَاسَةِ أَحَدِ الصَّفَّيْنِ وَرَوَاهُ عِكْرِمَةُ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ وَقَدْ مَضَى ذِكْرُ هَذِهِ الرِّوَايَاتِ وَفِي ذَلِكَ دَلِيلٌ عَلَى صِحَّةِ هَذَا التَّأْوِيلِ وَعَلَى مِثْلِ ذَلِكَ يُحْمَلُ أَيْضًا

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed the prayer of fear, so he arranged the rows behind him and the rows parallel to the enemy. He prayed with them one unit of prayer, then these people went to the place of those people, and those people came to the place of these people, so he prayed with them one unit of prayer, then he gave the salaam.  

البيهقي:٦٠٥٠مَا أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الصَّغَانِيُّ ثنا قَبِيصَةُ بْنُ عُقْبَةَ ثنا سُفْيَانُ عَنِ الرُّكَيْنِ عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ حَسَّانَ قَالَ أَتَيْتُ فُلَانَ بْنَ وَدِيعَةَ فَسَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ صَلَاةِ الْخَوْفِ فَقَالَ ايتِ زَيْدَ بْنَ ثَابِتٍ فَاسْأَلْهُ فَأَتَيْتُ زَيْدًا فَسَأَلْتُهُ فَقَالَ

صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ صَلَاةَ الْخَوْفِ فَصَفَّ صَفًّا خَلْفَهُ وَصَفًّا مُوَازِي الْعَدُوِّ فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ رَكْعَةً ثُمَّ ذَهَبَ هَؤُلَاءِ إِلَى مَصَافِّ هَؤُلَاءِ وَجَاءَ هَؤُلَاءِ إِلَى مَصَافِّ هَؤُلَاءِ فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ رَكْعَةً ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ

[Machine] I witnessed the fear with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , so he ordered a group to stand facing the enemy, and he stood and performed a rak'ah (unit of prayer) with that group. When they prostrated, those who had prayed with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood in their places, and those who had not yet prayed with him joined them and stood behind the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and he performed a rak'ah with them. When they prostrated, he sat and greeted them. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed two rak'ahs, and those who were behind him performed one rak'ah. It is possible that this includes the narrations of Hudhayfah, Ibn Abbas, and Zaid in his statement. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed two rak'ahs, and those who were behind him performed one rak'ah. It is possible to assume that this is from the perspective of some of the narrators before Jabir, as we have narrated from Ata' and Abu Zubayr from Jabir, which indicates that. And some of them have mentioned in the hadith of Yazid al-Faqir that they prayed another rak'ah. This is what Abu Dawud al-Sijistani mentioned. The sheikh said: Al-Hakam ibn Utaybah narrated it from Yazid al-Faqir from Jabir, and he said, "So we lined up in two rows," and he mentioned it in a wording that could be interpreted as we mentioned, except that al-Mas'udi has mentioned it...  

البيهقي:٦٠٥١وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُؤَمِّلِ ثنا أَبُو عُثْمَانَ عَمْرُو بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْبَصْرِيُّ ثنا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ ثنا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ عَوْنٍ أنبأ الْمَسْعُودِيُّ عَنْ يَزِيدَ الْفَقِيرِ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ

شَهِدْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ الْخَوْفَ فَأَمَرَ بِطَائِفَةٍ تَقُومُ فِي وَجْهِ الْعَدُوِّ وَقَامَ فَصَلَّى بِطَائِفَةٍ رَكْعَةً فَلَمَّا سَجَدَ انْطَلَقَ الَّذِينَ صَلُّوا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَامُوا مَقَامَ أُولَئِكَ وَجَاءَ أُولَئِكَ فَقَامُوا خَلْفَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ رَكْعَةً فَلَمَّا سَجَدُوا جَلَسَ فَسَلَّمَ بِهِمْ فَكَانَتْ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَلِلَّذِينَ خَلْفَهُ رَكْعَةً فَلَمَّا سَلَّمَ بِالَّذِينَ خَلْفَهُ سَلَّمَ الْآخَرُونَ قَالَ الشَّيْخُ وَهَذَا يَحْتَمِلُ مَا احْتَمَلَ حَدِيثُ حُذَيْفَةَ وَابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ وَزَيْدٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ فَكَانَتْ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَلِلَّذِينَ خَلْفَهُ رَكْعَةً يَحْتَمِلُ أَنْ يَكُونَ مِنْ جِهَةِ بَعْضِ الرُّوَاةِ قَبْلَ جَابِرٍ فَقَدْ رُوِّينَا عَنْ عَطَاءٍ وَأَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ مَا دَلَّ عَلَى ذَلِكَ وَقَدْ قَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ فِي حَدِيثِ يَزِيدَ الْفَقِيرِ أَنَّهُمْ قَضَوْا رَكْعَةً أُخْرَى هَكَذَا قَالَهُ أَبُو دَاوُدَ السِّجِسْتَانِيُّ قَالَ الشَّيْخُ وَرَوَاهُ الْحَكَمُ بْنُ عُتَيْبَةَ عَنْ يَزِيدَ الْفَقِيرِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ وَقَالَ فَصَفَفْنَا صَفَّينِ فَذَكَرَهُ بِلَفْظٍ مُحْتَمَلٍ لِلتَّأْوِيلِ الَّذِي ذَكَرْنَاهُ إِلَّا أَنَّ الْمَسْعُودِيَّ قَدْ  

رَوَاهُ مَرَّةً بِالزِّيَادَةِ فَتْوَى مِنْ جِهَةِ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ يَمْنَعُ هَذَا التَّأْوِيلَ وَاللهُ أَعْلَمُ وَذَلِكَ فِيمَا

[Machine] He was with the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , in battle and the prayer was called, so the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , stood up and formed a row of his followers behind him. Another group stood up, facing the enemy. The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , prayed with them one Rak'ah and prostrated for them twice. Then those who prayed behind him left and occupied their positions, and another group came and prayed behind the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , and he prayed one Rak'ah with them and prostrated for them twice. Then the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , sat down, greeted those behind him, and they returned the greeting. Thus the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , performed two Rak'ahs and the people performed one Rak'ah, and then he recited the verse "And when you are among them and lead them in prayer" [Quran 4:102]. The Sheikh said: This is what is reported from Jabir, and if it is not appropriate to interpret what we mentioned, it can be assumed that it is a report about his prayer in the morning that he and others described, and that they performed their remaining Rak'ahs. It is also possible that it is related to a certain matter that some narrators have confirmed over others, so the confirmed saying and the principle of the obligation of number should be taken until it is proven that a decrease is permissible based on something that does not tolerate interpretation. البيهقي:٦٠٥٢أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ فُورَكٍ أنبأ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ثنا يُونُسُ بْنُ حَبِيبٍ ثنا أَبُو دَاوُدَ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ ثنا الْمَسْعُودِيُّ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ صُهَيْبٍ الْفَقِيرِ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ جَابِرًا عَنِ الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ فِي السَّفَرِ أَقْصُرُهُمَا؟ قَالَ جَابِرٌ إِنَّ الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ فِي السَّفَرِ لَيْسَتَا بِقَصْرٍ إِنَّمَا الْقَصْرُ رَكْعَةٌ عِنْدَ الْقِتَالِ ثُمَّ أَنْشَأَ يُحَدِّثُ

أَنَّهُ كَانَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ عِنْدَ الْقِتَالِ وَحَضَرَتِ الصَّلَاةُ فَقَامَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَصَفَّ طَائِفَةٌ خَلْفَهُ وَقَامَتْ طَائِفَةٌ وُجُوهُهَا قِبَلَ وُجُوهِ الْعَدُوِّ فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ رَكْعَةً وَسَجَدَ بِهِمْ سَجْدَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ إِنَّ الَّذِينَ صَلُّوا خَلْفَهُ انْطَلَقُوا فَقَامُوا مَقَامَ أُولَئِكَ وَجَاءَ أُولَئِكَ فَصَلُّوا خَلْفَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ رَكْعَةً وَسَجَدَ بِهِمْ سَجْدَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ جَلَسَ فَسَلَّمَ وَسَلَّمَ الَّذِينَ خَلْفَهُ وَسَلَّمُوا أُولَئِكَ فَكَانَتْ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَلِلْقَوْمِ رَكْعَةً رَكْعَةً ثُمَّ قَرَأَ يَزِيدُ {وَإِذَا كُنْتَ فِيهِمْ فَأَقَمْتَ لَهُمُ الصَّلَاةَ} [النساء 102] قَالَ الشَّيْخُ وَهَذَا الَّذِي رُوِيَ عَنْ جَابِرٍ إِنْ كَانَ لَا يَحْتَمِلُ مَا ذَكَرْنَاهُ مِنَ التَّأْوِيلِ فَيُحْتَمَلُ أَنْ يَكُونَ خَبَرًا عَنْ صَلَاتِهِ فِي الْغَدَاةِ الَّتِي وَصَفَ هُوَ وَغَيْرُهُ صَلَاتَهُ فِيهَا وَأَنَّهُمْ قَضَوْا رَكْعَتَهُمُ الْبَاقِيَةَ وَيَكُونُ فِي حُكْمِ شَيْءٍ أَثْبَتَهُ بَعْضُ الرُّوَاةِ دُونَ بَعْضٍ فَيُؤْخَذُ بِقَوْلِ الْمُثْبِتِ وَالْأَصْلُ وَجُوبُ الْعَدَدِ حَتَّى يُثْبَتَ جَوَازُ النُّقْصَانِ عَنْهُ بِمَا لَا يَحْتَمِلُ التَّأْوِيلَ وَاللهُ أَعْلَمُ

[Machine] Narrated by the Prophet ﷺ, he prayed two rak'ahs with these people and two rak'ahs with those people during the prayer of fear. This was mentioned in a condensed form by Simak, and it has also been narrated by Salim and Nafi' from Ibn Umar, that each group completed their prayer. The ruling is that it is established in cases like this, and with Allah is the success.

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ صَلَّى بِهَؤُلَاءِ رَكْعَةً وَبِهَؤُلَاءِ رَكْعَةً فِي صَلَاةِ الْخَوْفِ كَذَا أَتَى بِهِ سِمَاكٌ مُخْتَصَرًا وَقَدْ رُوِّينَاهُ عَنْ سَالِمٍ وَنَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّ كُلَّ وَاحِدَةٍ مِنَ الطَّائِفَتَيْنِ قَضَوْا رَكْعَتَهُمْ وَالْحُكْمُ لِلْإِثْبَاتِ فِي مِثْلِ هَذَا وَبِاللهِ التَّوْفِيقُ

[Machine] Indeed, Allah has enjoined the prayer upon the tongue of your Prophet ﷺ four units in a state of residence and during travel two units, and in a state of fear one unit. And Abu Abdullah al-Hafiz narrated to us, Abu Bakr ibn Abdullah narrated to us, Hasan ibn Sufyan narrated to us, Uthman and Abu Bakr, the sons of Abu Shaybah, said, Al-Qasim ibn Malik al-Muzani narrated to us, Ayoub ibn A'idh al-Tayi mentioned him in a similar manner.

إِنَّ اللهَ فَرَضَ الصَّلَاةَ عَلَى لِسَانِ نَبِيِّكُمْ ﷺ أَرْبَعًا فِي الْحَضَرِ وَفِي السَّفَرِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَفِي الْخَوْفِ رَكْعَةً 6055 وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ أنبأ أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ أنبأ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ثنا عُثْمَانُ وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ ابْنَا أَبِي شَيْبَةَ قَالَا ثنا الْقَاسِمُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ الْمُزَنِيُّ ثنا أَيُّوبُ بْنُ عَائِذٍ الطَّائِيُّ فَذَكَرَهُ بِنَحْوِهِ  

رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ وَيُحْتَمَلُ أَنْ يَكُونَ الْمُرَادُ بِهِ رَكْعَةً مَعَ الْإِمَامِ وَيَنْفَرِدُ بِرَكْعَةٍ أُخْرَى عَلَى قَوْلِ مَنْ يَرَى فَرْضَ الصَّلَاةِ فِي الْجَمَاعَةِ عَلَى الْأَعْيَانِ وَفِي كَيْفِيَّةِ صَلَاةِ الْخَوْفِ فِي الْأَحَادِيثِ الثَّابِتَةِ مَعَ اخْتِلَافِ وُجُوهِهَا وَالِاتِّفَاقُ فِي عَدَدِهَا دَلِيلٌ عَلَى صِحَّةِ هَذَا التَّأْوِيلِ وَاللهُ أَعْلَمُ وَذَهَبَ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَنْبَلٍ رَحِمَهُ اللهُ وَجَمَاعَةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ الْحَدِيثِ إِلَى أَنَّ كُلَّ حَدِيثٍ وَرَدَ فِي أَبْوَابِ صَلَاةِ الْخَوْفِ فَالْعَمَلُ بِهِ جَائِزٌ وَبِاللهِ التَّوْفِيقُ

5.13 [Machine] Who said: The second group should perform the first rakah as soon as they arrive, then pray the second rakah with the imam, then the first group should perform the second rakah, after which the salam is performed.

٥۔١٣ بَابُ مَنْ قَالَ: قَضَتِ الطَّائِفَةُ الثَّانِيَةُ الرَّكْعَةَ الْأُولَى عِنْدَ مَجِيئِهَا، ثُمَّ صَلَّتِ الْأُخْرَى مَعَ الْإِمَامِ، ثُمَّ قَضَتِ الطَّائِفَةُ الْأُولَى الرَّكْعَةَ الثَّانِيَةَ، ثُمَّ كَانَ السَّلَامُ

Did you pray in time of danger with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ? AbuHurayrah replied: Yes. Marwan then asked: When? AbuHurayrah said: On the occasion of the Battle of Najd. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up to offer the afternoon prayer. One section stood with him (to pray) and the other was standing before the enemy, and their backs were towards the qiblah. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ uttered the takbir and all of them too uttered the takbir, i.e. those who were with him and those who were facing the enemy. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ offered one rak'ah and the section that was with him also prayed one rak'ah. He then prostrated himself and those who were with him also prostrated, while the other section was standing before the enemy. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then stood up and the section with him also stood up. They went and faced the enemy and the section that was previously facing the enemy stepped forward. They bowed and prostrated while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was standing in the same position. Then they stood up and the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon) prayed another rak'ah and all of them bowed and prostrated along with him. After that the section that was standing before the enemy came forward and they bowed and prostrated, while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ remained seated and also those who were with him. The salutation then followed. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ uttered the salutation and all of them uttered it together. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed two rak'ahs and each of the two sections prayed one rak'ah with him (and the other by themselves). (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1240)

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ led the people in the prayer of fear, and the people were divided into two groups. One group stood behind the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and another group faced the enemy. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed one unit of prayer and prostrated twice with the group behind him, then he stood up and they stood up with him. When he finished standing, those behind him returned and the Al-Qahhara tribe stood behind those facing the enemy. Then others came and stood behind the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, so they prayed for themselves one unit of prayer. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was standing, and then they stood up and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed another unit of prayer with them. Thus, they had two units of prayer for themselves and for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Then, those facing the enemy prayed for themselves one unit of prayer and prostrated twice, then they sat behind the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he greeted them all.

رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِالنَّاسِ صَلَاةَ الْخَوْفِ فَصَدَعَ النَّاسُ صَدْعَيْنِ فَقَامَتْ طَائِفَةٌ خَلْفَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَطَائِفَةٌ تِجَاهَ الْعَدُوِّ فَصَلَّى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِمَنْ خَلْفَهُ رَكْعَةً وَسَجَدَ بِهِمْ سَجْدَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ قَامَ وَقَامُوا مَعَهُ فَلَمَّا اسْتَوَى قَائِمًا رَجَعَ الَّذِينَ خَلْفَهُ وَرَاءَهُمُ الْقَهْقَرَى فَقَامُوا وَرَاءَ الَّذِينَ بِإِزَاءِ الْعَدُوِّ وَجَاءَ الْآخَرُونَ فَقَامُوا خَلْفَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَصَلُّوا لِأَنْفُسِهِمْ رَكْعَةً وَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قَائِمٌ ثُمَّ قَامُوا فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أُخْرَى فَكَانَتْ لَهُمْ وَلِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ رَكْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ جَاءَ الَّذِينَ بِإِزَاءِ الْعَدُوِّ فَصَلُّوا لِأَنْفُسِهِمْ رَكْعَةً وَسَجْدَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ جَلَسُوا خَلْفَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَسَلَّمَ بِهِمْ جَمِيعًا كَذَا

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , led the people in the prayer of fear on the battlefield of Raqa. The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , split the people into two groups. One group stayed behind him, while the other group stood facing the enemy. The group that stayed behind the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said the takbeer (saying Allahu Akbar) and the group that prayed behind them said the takbeer after them. Then the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , performed a rukoo (bowing) and they followed him in that, then he performed a sujood (prostration) and they followed him in that. Then the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , raised his head from sujood and they raised their heads with him. Then the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , sat down, and they prostrated to themselves the second prostration. Then they stood up and walked backwards, until they were behind him. Then the other group came forward and stood behind the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ . They said the takbeer and performed the rukoo, then the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , performed a sujood and they followed him in that. Then the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , stood up for the second rakah and they prostrated to themselves the second prostration. Then both groups stood up and lined up behind the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ . The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , performed a rukoo and they all performed a rukoo. Then he performed a sujood and they all performed a sujood. Then he raised his head from sujood and they raised their heads with him. All of this was done by the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , quickly and easily, without any difficulty, and the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said the salaam and they said the salaam. Then the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , stood up and the people followed him in his prayers, both in word and in meaning. Sometimes one of them would add a word or something similar to it.  

البيهقي:٦٠٥٨فَأَمَّا رِوَايَتُهُ عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ فَأَخْبَرَنَاهُ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ ثنا أَبُو الْحُسَيْنِ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ يَحْيَى الْمُقْرِئُ بِبَغْدَادَ ثنا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ حَاتِمٍ الدُّورِيُّ ثنا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ح وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو طَاهِرٍ الْفَقِيهُ ثنا أَبُو حَامِدِ بْنُ بِلَالٍ الْبَزَّارُ ثنا أَبُو الْأَزْهَرِ ثنا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ثنا أَبِي عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ؓ قَالَتْ

صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِالنَّاسِ صَلَاةَ الْخَوْفِ بِذَاتِ الرِّقَاعِ فَصَدَعَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ النَّاسَ صَدْعَيْنِ فَصُفَّتْ طَائِفَةٌ وَرَاءَهُ وَقَامَتْ طَائِفَةٌ وِجَاهَ الْعَدُوِّ قَالَتْ فَكَبَّرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَكَبَّرَتِ الطَّائِفَةُ الَّذِينَ صَلَّوْا خَلْفَهُ ثُمَّ رَكَعَ فَرَكَعُوا ثُمَّ سَجَدَ فَسَجَدُوا ثُمَّ رَفَعَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ رَأْسَهُ فَرَفَعُوا مَعَهُ ثُمَّ مَكَثَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ جَالِسًا فَسَجَدُوا لِأَنْفُسِهِمُ السَّجْدَةَ الثَّانِيَةَ ثُمَّ قَامُوا فَنَكَصُوا عَلَى أَعْقَابِهِمْ يَمْشُونَ الْقَهْقَرَى حَتَّى قَامُوا مِنْ وَرَائِهِمْ وَأَقْبَلَتِ الطَّائِفَةُ الْأُخْرَى فَصَفُّوا خَلْفَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَكَبَّرُوا ثُمَّ رَكَعُوا لِأَنْفُسِهِمْ ثُمَّ سَجَدَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ سَجْدَتَهُ الثَّانِيَةَ فَسَجَدُوا مَعَهُ ثُمَّ قَامَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي رَكْعَتِهِ الثَّانِيَةِ وَسَجَدُوا هُمْ لِأَنْفُسِهِمُ السَّجْدَةَ الثَّانِيَةَ ثُمَّ قَامَتِ الطَّائِفَتَانِ جَمِيعًا فَصَفُّوا خَلْفَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَرَكَعَ بِهِمْ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ رَكْعَةً فَرَكَعُوا جَمِيعًا ثُمَّ سَجَدَ فَسَجَدُوا جَمِيعًا ثُمَّ رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ فَرَفَعُوا مَعَهُ كُلُّ ذَلِكَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ سَرِيعًا جِدًّا لَا يَأْلُو أَنْ يُخَفِّفَ مَا اسْتَطَاعَ ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَسَلَّمُوا ثُمَّ قَامَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَقَدْ شَرَكَهُ النَّاسُ فِي صَلَاتِهِ كُلِّهَا حَدِيثُهُمَا سَوَاءٌ فِي الْمَعْنَى وَقَدْ تَزِيدُ إِحْدَاهُمَا عَلَى الْأُخْرَى بِكَلِمَةٍ أَوْ نَحْوِهَا

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever is killed defending his wealth is a martyr."  

البيهقي:٦٠٥٩أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو صَالِحِ بْنُ أَبِي طَاهِرٍ أنبأ جَدِّي يَحْيَى بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ الْقَاضِي أنبأ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَافِعٍ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ أنبأ ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ أَخْبَرَنِي سُلَيْمَانُ الْأَحْوَلُ أَنَّ ثَابِتًا مَوْلَى عُمَرَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ لَمَّا كَانَ بَيْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو وَعَنْبَسَةَ بْنِ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ مَا كَانَ تَيَسَّرُوا لِلْقِتَالِ فَرَكِبَ خَالِدُ بْنُ الْعَاصِ إِلَى عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو فَوَعَظَهُ فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو أَمَا عَلِمْتَ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ مَنْ قُتِلَ دُونَ مَالِهِ فَهُوَ شَهِيدٌ

A person came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: Messenger of Allah, what do you think if a man comes to me in order to appropriate my possession? He (the Holy Prophet) said: Don't surrender your possession to him. He (the inquirer) said: If he fights me? He (the Holy Prophet) remarked: Then fight (with him). He (the inquirer) again said: What do you think if I am killed? He (the Holy Prophet) observed: You would be a martyr. He (the inquirer) said: What do you think of him (Messenger of Allah) If I kill him. He (the Holy Prophet) said: he would be in the Fire. (Using translation from Muslim 140)

جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ جَاءَ رَجُلٌ يُرِيدُ أَخْذَ مَالِي قَالَ فَلَا تُعْطِهِ مَالَكَ قَالَ أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ قَاتَلَنِي قَالَ قَاتِلْهُ قَالَ أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ قَتَلَنِي قَالَ فَأَنْتَ شَهِيدٌ قَالَ أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ قَتَلْتُهُ؟ قَالَ فَهُوَ فِي النَّارِ

سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَقُولُ مَنْ قُتِلَ دُونَ مَالِهِ فَهُوَ شَهِيدٌ

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever is killed protecting his wealth, he is a martyr. Whoever is killed protecting his family, he is a martyr. And whoever is killed protecting his blood, he is a martyr." Abu al-Hasan Ali ibn Ahmad ibn Abdan informed us that Ahmad ibn Ubayd narrated to us that Abbas ibn al-Fadl al-Asfati narrated to us that Abu al-Walid narrated to us that Ibrahim ibn Saad informed me, and I mentioned it with its chain of narration. Its meaning is the same, except that he did not mention the word "blood," while all the narrators mentioned both [wealth and family]. This is reported by some of the narrators from Abu Dawud.  

البيهقي:٦٠٦٢وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ فُورَكٍ أنبأ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ثنا يُونُسُ بْنُ حَبِيبٍ ثنا أَبُو دَاوُدَ ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمَّارِ بْنِ يَاسِرٍ عَنْ طَلْحَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ مَنْ قُتِلَ دُونَ مَالِهِ فَهُوَ شَهِيدٌ وَمَنْ قُتِلَ دُونَ أَهْلِهِ فَهُوَ شَهِيدٌ وَمَنْ قُتِلَ دُونَ دَمِهِ فَهُوَ شَهِيدٌ 6063 وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ عَبْدَانَ أنبأ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ ثنا عَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ الْأَسْفَاطِيُّ ثنا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي فَذَكَرَهُ بِإِسْنَادِهِ وَمَعْنَاهُ إِلَّا أَنَّهُ قَالَ وَمَنْ أُصِيبَ دُونَ دِينِهِ فَهُوَ شَهِيدٌ وَلَمْ يَذْكُرِ الدَّمَ وَقَدْ ذَكَرَهُمَا جَمِيعًا بَعْضُ الرُّوَاةِ عَنْ أَبِي دَاوُدَ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever wears silk in this world will have no share of it in the Hereafter."  

البيهقي:٦٠٦٤أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ عَبْدَانَ أنبأ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ الصَّفَّارُ ثنا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ رَجَاءٍ ثنا حَرْبٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ شَدَّادٍ عَنْ يَحْيَى يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عِمْرَانُ بْنُ حِطَّانَ أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ عَنْ لُبْسِ الْحَرِيرِ فَقَالَ سَلْ عَنْهُ عَائِشَةَ ؓ فَسَأَلْتُ عَائِشَةَ فَقَالَتْ سَلِ ابْنَ عُمَرَ فَسَأَلْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ فَقَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو حَفْصٍ أَنَّ

رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ مَنْ لَبِسَ الْحَرِيرَ فِي الدُّنْيَا فَلَا خَلَاقَ لَهُ فِي الْآخِرَةَ  

رَوَاهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ رَجَاءٍ

أَنَّهُ سَمَعَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ لَا يَلْبَسُ الْحَرِيرَ فِي الدُّنْيَا إِلَّا مَنْ لَا خَلَاقَ لَهُ فِي الْآخِرَةِ
