5. Ṣalāh of Fear (Khawf)
He the Prophet ﷺ, forbade me that I should wear my ring in this (forefinger) or in that near it. 'Asim (one of the narrators in the chain of transmitters) said: He did not remember which of the two (fingers) he pointed out; and he forbade to wear Qassi material (silk garments), and to sit on the silk saddle cloth, and he said: As regards Qassi, it is a variegated garment which was brought from Egypt and Syria which had figures upon it, and as regards Mayathir, it is something which women prepared for their husbands as red cloths for their saddles. (Using translation from Muslim 2078d)
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ forbade me from wearing qassiyyah and meetharah. Abu Burdah said, "We asked Ali, 'What is qassiyyah?' He said, 'It is a type of garment that we received from Sham (Syria) or Misr (Egypt) that had silk and designs similar to the markings on a zebra. And meetharah is something that women used to make for their husbands, resembling pieces of felt that they would place on their saddles.' Al-Bukhari mentioned it in his Targhib. Abu Ubayd said, 'Meetharah was made from the ships of the non-Arabs, made from dyed or silk materials.' And others have said, 'Meetharah is the skins of wild animals.'"
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , forbade riding on agile horses and wearing gold except in small amounts. This was also narrated by Muhammad ibn Sireen from Muawiyah regarding riding on agile horses, and it was narrated by Abu Shaykh al-Hunayyi from Muawiyah regarding riding on agile horses and regarding gold.
my companion went to the mosque before me. I went there after him and sat beside him. He asked me: Did you hear the preaching of AbuRayhanah? I said: No. He said: I heard him say: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade ten things: Sharpening the ends of the teeth, tattooing, plucking hair, men sleeping together without an under garment, women sleeping together without an under-garment, men putting silk at the hem of their garments like the Persians, or putting silk on their shoulders like the Persians, plundering, riding on panther skins, wearing signet rings, except in the case of one in authority. Abu Dawud said: The solitary point in this tradition (not supported by other traditions) is the report about the signet-ring. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4049)
