"A man came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and asked him for permission to go for Jihad. He said: 'Are your parents alive?' He said: 'Yes.' He said: 'Then strive for their sake.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 3103)
جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَاسْتَأْذَنَهُ فِي الْجِهَادِ فَقَالَ أَحَيٌّ وَالِدَاكَ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ فَفِيهِمَا فَجَاهِدْ
A man came to the Prophet ﷺ asking his permission to take part in Jihad. The Prophet ﷺ asked him, "Are your parents alive?" He replied in the affirmative. The Prophet ﷺ said to him, "Then exert yourself in their service."
سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْعَبَّاسِ الشَّاعِرَ وَكَانَ لاَ يُتَّهَمُ فِي حَدِيثِهِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَمْرٍو ؓ يَقُولُ جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَاسْتَأْذَنَهُ فِي الْجِهَادِ فَقَالَ أَحَىٌّ وَالِدَاكَ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ فَفِيهِمَا فَجَاهِدْ
Are your parents living? He said: Yes. Thereupon he (the Holy Prophet) said: You should put in your best efforts (in their) service.
جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ يَسْتَأْذِنُهُ فِي الْجِهَادِ فَقَالَ أَحَىٌّ وَالِدَاكَ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ فَفِيهِمَا فَجَاهِدْ

The name of the narrator Abu al-'Abbas, a poet, is al-Sa'ib b. Farrukh.
جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أُجَاهِدُ قَالَ أَلَكَ أَبَوَانِ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ فَفِيهِمَا فَجَاهِدْ
A man came to Prophet ﷺ seeking permission to go for Jihad. So he said: 'Do you have parents (living)? ' He said: 'Yes.' He said: 'Then it is for them that you should perform Jihad.'"
جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ يَسْتَأْذِنُهُ فِي الْجِهَادِ فَقَالَ أَلَكَ وَالِدَانِ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ فَفِيهِمَا فَجَاهِدْ
Are your parents living? He said: Yes. Thereupon he (the Holy Prophet) said: You should put in your best efforts (in their) service. (Using translation from Muslim 2549a)

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then said, 'Then strive in their service.' Bahz informed me that Habib ibn Abi Thabit narrated from Abu Al-Abbas who said, 'I asked Abdullah ibn Amr about...' "
جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَاسْتَأْذَنَهُ فِي الْجِهَادِ فَقَالَ أَحَيٌّ وَالِدَاكَ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ فَفِيهِمَا فَجَاهِدْ قَالَ بَهْزٌ أَخْبَرَنِي حَبِيبُ بْنُ أَبِي ثَابِتٍ عَنْ أَبِي الْعَبَّاسِ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عَمْرٍو
[Machine] A man came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, should I strive in Jihad?" He replied, "Do you have parents?" The man said, "Yes." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Then strive in serving them."
جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أُجَاهِدُ؟ فقَالَ «لَكَ أَبَوَانِ؟ » قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ «فَفِيهِمَا فَجَاهِدْ»
