[Machine] About the statement of Masruq, "And whoever fears Allah - He will make for him a way out" [Surah At-Talaq 2]. He said, "His way out is that he knows that Allah prevents him and He gives to him." And, "And whoever relies upon Allah - then He is sufficient for him" [Surah At-Talaq 3]. He said, "Isn't it that whoever relies upon Allah, it is sufficient for him? Except for the one upon whom he relies and he overlooks his sins and magnifies his reward." He said, "Indeed, Allah will accomplish His purpose" [Surah At-Talaq 3]. And He said, "So whoever relies upon Allah - then He is sufficient for him. Indeed, Allah will accomplish His purpose" [Surah At-Talaq 3]. Indeed, Allah has decreed for everything its destiny.

[Machine] Ziyad sent Masruq as a worker in the chain, and when Masruq left, some of the people of Kufa accompanied him to bid him farewell. Among them was a young man riding a horse. When they returned and only a few of Masruq's companions remained, the young man approached him and said, "Surely, you are the leader of the people of Kufa and their top reciter. If it is asked who among them is the best, it will be said Masruq. And if it is asked who among them is the most knowledgeable, it will be said Masruq. And if it is asked who among them is the most understanding, it will be said Masruq. Indeed, your beauty is their beauty, and your ugliness is their ugliness. I implore you by Allah, do not make yourself suffer from poverty or long expectation." Masruq replied to him, "Will you not assist me in my situation?" He said, "By Allah, I am not satisfied with what you are in, so how can I assist you with it? Depart!" When the young man left, Masruq said, "He did not benefit me with any advice. His advice did not reach me." Sufyan said, "When Masruq returned from his work, Abu Wa'il came to him and Masruq said to him, 'I have not done any work that I fear will drag me into the fire. I did not wrong any Muslim or covenant holder. But I do not know what this burden is that neither the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , nor Abu Bakr, nor Umar have commanded me with.' Abu Wa'il asked him, 'What led you to do it?' Masruq replied, 'Shuraih and Ibn Ziyad pressured me, and the devil tempted me.'"

[Machine] Then I said, "Where should I go to pray behind him?" So I said, once I will go and once I will not go. He said, "Then I gathered my opinion on going." He said, "Then a caller called me from the direction of the house: 'O you who have believed, when the call is made for prayer on the day of Jumu'ah, then proceed to the remembrance of Allah." (Surah Al-Jumu'ah, 9) He said, "So I went." He said, "And I sat once to write a book." He said, "Then something was presented to me. If I wrote it, my writing would be adorned, and I would have lied. And if I left it, it would be in my book some ugliness and I would have told the truth." He said, "So I said, once I will write it and once I will not write it." He said, "Then I gathered my opinion on leaving it. So I left it." He said, "Then a caller called me from the direction of the house: 'Allah keeps firm those who believe, with the firm word, in worldly life and in the Hereafter." (Surah Ibrahim, 27)

[Machine] "By Allah, if blood were to drip on this garment, it would be a good omen. So, I threw it and saw the blood dripping onto the place where he had placed his hand, and he died. We woke up on a cold morning, and I gave a blanket to someone and he wrapped himself in it. Ibn al-Dawraqi said, "Wrap yourself in it." So, he wrapped himself in it, and he said, "By Allah, it is small, and Allah surely blesses the small things." Then, he died from it, and his remains continued to wear that blanket, and he would say, "Surely it increases my love for him to see blood on this blanket."

Why did A'mash not perform sujud?" 'Amr said, "O father, I am a slave working to free myself." He [Abdullah] said, "Then 'Utbah wept and said, 'O my son, I love you with two loves - the love of Allah and the love of a parent for his child.'" 'Amr said, "O father, if you had come to me with wealth that reached seventy thousand, and if you were asking me about it, it is here - take it. Otherwise, leave me to spend it." So he spent it until not even a single dirham remained."

[Machine] Amr ibn Utbah ibn Farqad used to go out on his horse at night and stand by the graves, saying, "O people of the graves, the records have been folded, the deeds have been raised." Then he would cry and describe what would happen until the morning. Then he would return and witness the dawn prayer.

[Machine] Amr ibn Utbah used to take care of the camels of his companions, and there was a cloud that shaded him.

[Machine] So we heard the roar of the lion, so we ran away while he was standing praying, he did not leave. So we said to him, "Aren't you afraid of the lion?" He said, "I am shy of my Lord, blessed and exalted, to fear anyone other than Him."

[Machine] About Fustat, when a lion came until it passed in front of Amr's direction, and he did not leave, then he came to Fustat and came until he folded on Amr's leg. When he wanted to prostrate, he came and folded in the place of his prostration, so he prostrated on him or erased him, then a man who doubted prostrated. When the companion of Amr became morning, he entered upon him and informed him about the lion's passing in front of him and that he did not leave, and he saw that he had done something, so Amr showed him his trace on his legs and informed him about what he had done.

[Machine] About Muhammad ibn Amr ibn Utbah ibn Farqad that his parents wanted to marry him, but he refused. They sought the help of Uthman ibn Affan, who said to him, "Why don't you get married? The Prophet ﷺ got married, Abu Bakr got married, Umar got married, and I got married." He replied, "Who is like you in your deeds?" Uthman said, "Glory be to Allah, glory be to Allah." He turned his face away and covered it with his hand, describing the virtues of Uthman. When they insisted on him, he said, "Fine, I will get married." He proposed to the daughter of Jarir, and she said, "I have no need for women, and my parents only want to marry me off to you. You will have food and clothing with them, so go ahead." He said, "When they brought her to me, I went to pray at night and she stood behind me and prayed with me until morning. And we woke up fasting. Amr said, "If I were to delay, she would prevent me." So his parents said, "We only married you to have children, and we don't see her having children. Divorce her." So he divorced her, and then he proposed to another woman. He said, "I will not get married to a woman until I speak to her." When they brought her to him, he said the same words he said to the daughter of Jarir. Then they separated, and one day he was lying down, pretending to be asleep, and a woman from her family said to her, "Why don't you have children? Are you incapable?" She replied, "Can a woman have children without a husband?" When he heard this, he divorced her and his parents abandoned him.

[Machine] A caller called out, "O horses of Allah, ride!" and he rode out. He was the first to be met and he was injured. So he was brought and buried in this place. He said, "There was no one quicker than a caller calling out, 'O horses of Allah, ride!' like a village to a city. They treated it and 'Amr rode out quickly among the people, he was the first to ride out. He came to 'Utba who had news of that. 'Ali said, "O 'Amr, O 'Amr!" and he sent for him in his pursuit. But he was not reached until he was injured. He said, "I did not see him buried except in the center of his spear and the threshold of that day on the people" and he said, "And Ghayru as-Suddi said, he received a wound." And he said, "By Allah, you are young and indeed Allah blesses the young. Leave me in my place until I walk. If I live, then raise me up." He said, "So he died in his place, may Allah have mercy on him."

[Machine] When the delegation of Bakr ibn Wail came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , he asked them, "What happened to Quss ibn Sa'idah al-Iyadi?" They replied, "He has passed away, O Messenger of Allah." He said, "It is as if I see him in the market of 'Ukaz, riding a red camel and saying, 'O people, gather and listen to what I say. Anyone who is alive, will eventually die, and anyone who has died, has passed everything that was supposed to come to him. A cradle will be put in its place, a raised roof, stars that do not shake, and seas that do not dry up. As for the future, there are news in the heavens and lessons in the earth. I swear that Allah has a religion, and it pleases Him more than any other religion you are currently on.'" He then recited a poem and a man from the people said, "Shall I narrate it, O Messenger of Allah?" So he recited:
"In the first centuries of those who have gone, we have insights,
When I saw resources for the destinations, that have no sources,
The past does not return to me and the remaining do not diminish,
I have come to know for sure that inevitably I will be among those who become."
