[Machine] "To make me despise the world, so I do not care about what it presents to me or what it takes away from me. I asked Him to give me strength in prayer, so He provided it for me. And I asked Him for martyrdom, as I hope for it."

الزهد لأحمد:٢٠٥٩ – حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ أَنْبَأَنَا فُضَيْلُ بْنُ عِيَاضٍ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ قَالَ قَالَ عَمْرُو بْنُ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ فَرْقَدٍ «سَأَلْتُ اللَّهَ ﷻ ثَلَاثًا فَأَعْطَانِي اثْنَتَيْنِ وَأَنَا أَنْتَظِرُ الثَّالِثَةَ سَأَلْتُهُ

أَنْ يُزَّهِدَنِي فِي الدُّنْيَا فَمَا أُبَالِي مَا أَقْبَلَ مِنْهَا وَمَا أَدْبَرَ وَسَأَلْتُهُ أَنْ يُقَوِّيَنِي عَلَى الصَّلَاةِ فَرَزَقَنِي مِنْهَا وَسَأَلْتُهُ الشَّهَادَةَ فَأَنَا أَرْجُوهَا»
