"عن على قال: كان النبي ﷺ يُصلى من الليل التَّطَوع ثَمَانىَ ركعات، وبالنهار ثنتى عشرة ركعة".

ʿAli ؓ was asked about the prayer of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He said: He used to pray sixteen rakʿahʿs at night.

عَنْ صَلاةِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ كَانَ يُصَلِّي مِنَ اللَّيْلِ سِتَّ عَشْرَةَ رَكْعَةً

The Prophet ﷺ used to pray eight rakʿahs of voluntary prayer and during the day twelve rakʿahs.
