"A mule was given as a gift to the Messenger of Allah and he rode it." 'Ali said: "If we mate a donkey with a horse, we will have one like this." The Messenger of Allah said: "That is only done by those who do not know."

أُهْدِيَتْ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ بَغْلَةٌ فَرَكِبَهَا فَقَالَ عَلِيٌّ لَوْ حَمَلْنَا الْحَمِيرَ عَلَى الْخَيْلِ لَكَانَتْ لَنَا مِثْلَ هَذِهِ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِنَّمَا يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ الَّذِينَ لاَ يَعْلَمُونَ

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was present with a she-mule which he rode, so Ali said: If we made asses cover mares we would have animals of this type. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Only those who do not know do that.

أُهْدِيَتْ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ بَغْلَةٌ فَرَكِبَهَا فَقَالَ عَلِيٌّ لَوْ حَمَلْنَا الْحَمِيرَ عَلَى الْخَيْلِ فَكَانَتْ لَنَا مِثْلُ هَذِهِ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِنَّمَا يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ الَّذِينَ لاَ يَعْلَمُونَ

A mule was given to the Prophet ﷺ as a gift. Some of his Companions said: Why donʿt we get animals like this? He said: ʿDo you want to mate a donkey with a mare? That is only done by those who do not know.”

أُهْدِيَتْ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ بَغْلَةٌ فَرَكِبَهَا فَقَالَ بَعْضُ أَصْحَابِهِ لَوِ اتَّخَذْنَا مِثْلَ هَذَا قَالَ أَتُرِيدُونَ أَنْ تُنْزُوا الْحَمِيرَ عَلَى الْخَيْلِ؟ إِنَّمَا يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ الَّذِينَ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ

أَنَّهُ قَالَ أُهْدِيَتْ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ بَغْلَةٌ فَقُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ لَوْ أَنَّا أَنْزَيْنَا الْحُمُرَ عَلَى خَيْلِنَا فَجَاءَتْنَا بِمِثْلِ هَذِهِ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّمَا يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ الَّذِينَ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ

[Machine] It was gifted to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ a camel that impressed us, so I said, "O Messenger of Allah, should we not replace our horses with camels until we acquire ones like this?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, only those who do not know do such a thing, and it is so."

صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَغْلَةٌ فَأَعْجَبَتْهُ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ لَوْ أَنْزَيْنَا الْحُمُرَ عَلَى خَيْلِنَا جَاءَتْ بِمِثْلِ هَذِهِ فَقَالَ إِنَّمَا يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ الَّذِينَ لَا يَعْقِلُونَ
