that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When one of you makes a dua, he should not say, 'If you wish.' He should be firm in asking and he should have great hope. Allah does not think that anything that He gives is too great."
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ: «إِذَا دَعَا أَحَدُكُمْ فَلَا يَقُولُ: إِنْ شِئْتَ، وَلْيَعْزِمِ الْمَسْأَلَةَ، وَلْيُعَظِّمِ الرَّغْبَةَ، فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَعْظُمُ عَلَيْهِ شَيْءٌ أَعْطَاهُ»
the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When one of you makes a dua, he should be firm in the dua and not say, 'O Allah, if you like, grant it to me.' Allah cannot be forced against His ˹will˺."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: «إِذَا دَعَا أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَعْزِمْ فِي الدُّعَاءِ وَلاَ يَقُلِ: اللَّهُمَّ إِنْ شِئْتَ فَأَعْطِنِي، فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ لاَ مُسْتَكْرِهَ لَهُ»
Anas reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When you call on Allah, be definite in your supplication. None of you should say, 'If You will, give it to me.' No one can force Allah."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا دَعَوْتُمُ اللَّهَ فَاعْزِمُوا فِي الدُّعَاءِ وَلاَ يَقُولَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ إِنْ شِئْتَ فَأَعْطِنِي فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ لاَ مُسْتَكْرِهَ لَهُ
When you make dua, have conviction that Allah will respond
Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When anyone of you appeal to Allah for something, he should ask with determination and should not say, 'O Allah, if You wish, give me.', for nobody can force Allah to do something against His Will.
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا دَعَا أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَعْزِمِ الْمَسْأَلَةَ وَلاَ يَقُولَنَّ اللَّهُمَّ إِنْ شِئْتَ فَأَعْطِنِي فَإِنَّهُ لاَ مُسْتَكْرِهَ لَهُ
Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "None of you should say: 'O Allah, forgive me if You wish; O Allah, be merciful to me if You wish,' but he should always appeal to Allah with determination, for nobody can force Allah to do something against His Will."
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ لاَ يَقُولَنَّ أَحَدُكُمُ اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي اللَّهُمَّ ارْحَمْنِي إِنْ شِئْتَ لِيَعْزِمِ الْمَسْأَلَةَ فَإِنَّهُ لاَ مُكْرِهَ لَهُ
The Prophet ﷺ said, "None of you should say: 'O Allah! Forgive me if You wish,' or 'Bestow Your Mercy on me if You wish,' or 'Provide me with means of subsistence if You wish,' but he should be firm in his request, for Allah does what He will and nobody can force Him (to do anything).
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ لاَ يَقُلْ أَحَدُكُمُ اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي إِنْ شِئْتَ ارْحَمْنِي إِنْ شِئْتَ ارْزُقْنِي إِنْ شِئْتَ وَلْيَعْزِمْ مَسْأَلَتَهُ إِنَّهُ يَفْعَلُ مَا يَشَاءُ لاَ مُكْرِهَ لَهُ
When one of you makes supplication, he should supplicate with a will and should not say: O Allah, confer upon me if Thou likest, for there is none to coerce Allah.
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا دَعَا أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَعْزِمْ فِي الدُّعَاءِ وَلاَ يَقُلِ اللَّهُمَّ إِنْ شِئْتَ فَأَعْطِنِي فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ لاَ مُسْتَكْرِهَ لَهُ
When one of you makes a supplication (to his Lord) one should not say: O Allah, grant me pardon, if Thou so likest, but one should beg one's (Lord) with a will and full devotion, for there is nothing so great in the eye of Allah which He cannot grant.
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا دَعَا أَحَدُكُمْ فَلاَ يَقُلِ اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي إِنْ شِئْتَ وَلَكِنْ لِيَعْزِمِ الْمَسْأَلَةَ وَلْيُعَظِّمِ الرَّغْبَةَ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ لاَ يَتَعَاظَمُهُ شَىْءٌ أَعْطَاهُ
None of you should say to Allah (like this): O Allah, grant me mercy, if thou so likest. The supplication (of his) should (be permeated with) conviction (that it would be accepted by the Lord), for Allah is the Doer of (everything) He likes to do, and there is none to force Him (to do or not to do this or that).
قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ لاَ يَقُولَنَّ أَحَدُكُمُ اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي إِنْ شِئْتَ اللَّهُمَّ ارْحَمْنِي إِنْ شِئْتَ لِيَعْزِمْ فِي الدُّعَاءِ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ صَانِعٌ مَا شَاءَ لاَ مُكْرِهَ لَهُ

[AI] Malik informed us, and I recited to Abdul Rahman from Malik, from Abu Zinad, from Al-A'raj, from Abu Hurayrah, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "None of you should say, 'O Allah, forgive me if You will, O Allah, have mercy on me if You will.' Let him be resolute in the matter." They both said, "All of us agreed that there is no compulsion in this regard."

He should be firm in his request, for indeed nobody can compel Allah." Abdullah (bin Mas'ud) said: Thus it was written in the book of Abu Mu'ayyad, and the abundance of water should not be prevented from flowing, just as the abundance of divine favors should not be prevented.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ لاَ يَقُلْ أَحَدُكُمْ إِذَا دَعَا اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي إِنْ شِئْتَ اللَّهُمَّ ارْحَمْنِي إِنْ شِئْتَ لِيَعْزِمِ الْمَسْأَلَةَ فَإِنَّهُ لاَ مُكْرِهَ لَهُ

"لا يَقُولَنَّ أحَدُكُمْ اللَّهم اغفرْ لي إنْ شِئِتَ، اللَّهمَّ ارْحَمنى إِنْ شِئِتَ، اللَّهمَّ ارْزُقنى إنْ شِئِتَ، ولِيَعزم المَسْألةَ، فإنَّهُ يَفْعَلُ مَا يَشَاءُ لا مُكْره لَهُ".
