Buraidah said A woman came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said I gave a slave girl as sadaqah to my mother who has now died and has left that slave girl. He said your reward is sure and the inheritance has given her back to you.

أَنَّ امْرَأَةً أَتَتْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ كُنْتُ تَصَدَّقْتُ عَلَى أُمِّي بِوَلِيدَةٍ وَإِنَّهَا مَاتَتْ وَتَرَكَتْ تِلْكَ الْوَلِيدَةَ قَالَ قَدْ وَجَبَ أَجْرُكِ وَرَجَعَتْ إِلَيْكِ فِي الْمِيرَاثِ

A woman came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: I donated my slave-girl to my mother, but she died and left the slave-girl. He said: Your reward became due, and she came back to you in inheritance. She said: She died while a month's fasting was due from her. Would it be sufficient or be taken as completed if I fast on her behalf ? He said: Yes. She said: She also did not perform Hajj. Would it be sufficient or be taken completed if I perform (Hajj) on her behalf ? He said: Yes.

أَنَّ امْرَأَةً أَتَتْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ كُنْتُ تَصَدَّقْتُ عَلَى أُمِّي بِوَلِيدَةٍ وَإِنَّهَا مَاتَتْ وَتَرَكَتْ تِلْكَ الْوَلِيدَةَ قَالَ قَدْ وَجَبَ أَجْرُكِ وَرَجَعَتْ إِلَيْكِ فِي الْمِيرَاثِ قَالَتْ وَإِنَّهَا مَاتَتْ وَعَلَيْهَا صَوْمُ شَهْرٍ أَفَيُجْزِئُ أَوْ يَقْضِي عَنْهَا أَنْ أَصُومَ عَنْهَا قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَتْ وَإِنَّهَا لَمْ تَحُجَّ أَفَيُجْزِئُ أَوْ يَقْضِي عَنْهَا أَنْ أَحُجَّ عَنْهَا قَالَ نَعَمْ

A woman came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: I gave a slave girl to my mother, but she died and left the salve-girl. He said: Your reward became certain for you, and she (the slave-girl) returned to you as inheritance. She said: She died and one month's fast was due from her. He (the narrator) then mentioned the tradition similar to the one mentioned by 'Amr b. 'Awn.

“A woman came to-the Prophet ﷺ and said: 'O Messenger of Allah ﷺ, I gave my mother a slave girl of mine, and she has died.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Allah (SWT) has rewarded you, and returned to you your inheritance (without your seeking that.' ”

جَاءَتِ امْرَأَةٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي تَصَدَّقْتُ عَلَى أُمِّي بِجَارِيَةٍ وَإِنَّهَا مَاتَتْ فَقَالَ آجَرَكِ اللَّهُ وَرَدَّ عَلَيْكِ الْمِيرَاثَ

[AI] A woman came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "Indeed, my mother has passed away and she had two months of fasting to make up." He ﷺ replied, "I will fast on her behalf." She then said, "She also had an obligation to perform Hajj." He ﷺ said, "Then perform Hajj on her behalf." She said, "I have given charity on her behalf with a servant." He ﷺ said, "Allah has rewarded you for it and the inheritance has been returned to you."

أَتَتِ امْرَأَةٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ إِنَّ أُمِّي تُوُفِّيَتْ وَعَلَيْهَا صَوْمُ شَهْرَيْنِ فَقَالَ «صَوْمِي عَنْهَا» فَقَالَتْ إِنَّ عَلَيْهَا حَجَّةً قَالَ «فَحُجِّي عَنْهَا» قَالَتْ فَإِنِّي تَصَدَّقْتُ عَلَيْهَا بِجَارِيَةٍ فَقَالَ «قَدْ آجَرَكِ اللَّهُ وَرَدَّهَا عَلَيْكِ الْمِيرَاثُ»

[AI] "A woman came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, 'I have given charity on behalf of my mother with a young slave girl, but she has passed away. So, she has come to me as an inheritance.' He (the Prophet) said, 'Allah has rewarded you and honored you with inheritance.' Abu Abdullah Al-Rahman said, 'This is incorrect, and the correct wording is Abdullah ibn Buraida.'"

“A woman came to-the Prophet ﷺ and said: 'O Messenger of Allah ﷺ, I gave my mother a slave girl of mine, and she has died.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Allah (SWT) has rewarded you, and returned to you your inheritance (without your seeking that.' ” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 2394)

أَنَّ امْرَأَةً أَتَتِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ إِنِّي تَصَدَّقْتُ عَلَى أُمِّي بِجَارِيَةٍ فَمَاتَتْ فَقَالَ «قَدْ أجَزاَكِ اللهُ وَرَدَّ عَلَيْكِ الْمِيرَاثَ»

[AI] I was with the Prophet ﷺ when a woman came to him and said, "O Messenger of Allah, I had made a vow to provide financial support for my mother until my mother passed away, and now my mother has died but the person I made the vow for is still alive." The Prophet ﷺ said, "You have fulfilled your vow, and the person should return to you in terms of inheritance." She said, "But she died while owing a month of fasting." He said, "Then I will fast on behalf of your mother." She said, "But she died without performing the Hajj pilgrimage." He said, "Then I will perform the Hajj pilgrimage on behalf of your mother."

كُنْتُ عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَأَتَتْهُ امْرَأَةٌ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنِّي كُنْتُ تَصَدَّقْتُ بِوَلِيدَةٍ عَلَى أُمِّي فَمَاتَتْ أُمِّي وَبَقِيَتِ الْوَلِيدَةُ قَالَ قَدْ وَجَبَ أَجْرُكِ وَرَجَعَتْ إِلَيْكِ فِي الْمِيرَاثِ قَالَتْ فَإِنَّهَا مَاتَتْ وَعَلَيْهَا صَوْمُ شَهْرٍ قَالَ صُوْمِي عَنْ أُمِّكِ قَالَتْ وَإِنَّهَا مَاتَتْ وَلَمْ تَحُجَّ قَالَ فَحُجِّي عَنْ أُمُّكِ

"عَنْ بُرَيْدَةَ قَالَ: جَاءَتِ امْرَأَةٌ إِلَى النَّبِىَّ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ: يَارَسُولَ الله! تَصَدَّقْتُ عَلَى أَبِى بِجَارِية، فَمَاتَتْ أُمِّى، فَقَالَ: لَكِ أَجْرُكِ، وَرَدَّهَا عَلَيْكِ المِيرَاثُ".
