[Machine] I asked Ibn Mas'ood, "Did anyone from amongst you accompany the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the night of the jinn?" He responded, "None of us accompanied him, but we lost him one night in Makkah. We suspected that he was assassinated or taken away by the jinn. We spent the night in great distress and fear. When it was morning or at the time of dawn, we found him coming towards us from the direction of Hira. We informed him about what happened and he ﷺ said, 'Indeed, a caller from the jinn came to me, so I went to them and recited upon them.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then went with us and showed us the traces of their presence and the marks of their fires."

tirmidhi:3258ʿAlī b. Ḥujr > Ismāʿīl b. Ibrāhīm > Dāwud > al-Shaʿbī > ʿAlqamah

that 'Alqamah said: "I said to Ibn Mas'ud, may Allah be pleased with him: 'Did any of you accompany the Prophet ﷺ on the Night of the Jinn?' He said: 'None of us accompanied him. One night, while he was in Makkah, we could not find him. We said: "He has been murdered [or] snatched, what has happened to him?" So we spent the worst night a people could spend until the morning' or 'it was about dawn when we saw him coming from the direction of Hira.' He said: 'They told him about what they had went through.'" "So he ﷺ said: 'Someone from the Jinn came to invite me, so I went to them to recite for them.' He said: "So we went and saw their tracks and the traces of their camp fire.'" Ash-Sha'bi said: "They asked him about their provisions - and they were Jinns of Mesopotamia - so he said: 'Every bone upon which Allah's name has not been mentioned, that falls into your hands, and every dropping of dung is fodder for your beasts.'" So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Do not perform Istinja with them for indeed they are provisions for your brothers among the Jinns."

[Machine] I asked Alqamah ibn Qays, "Did Ibn Mas'ud witness the night of the jinn with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?" He replied, "I asked Abdullah ibn Mas'ud, 'Did any of you witness the night of the jinn with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?' He said, 'No, but we were with him one night and lost track of him. We spent the night in fear until he returned to us from the direction of Hira and said, "Indeed, the caller of the jinn came to me, so I went with him and recited the Quran to them." Then he went until we could see their fires and traces, so they asked him about provisions. He said, "For you, every bone that has the name of Allah mentioned upon it is more abundant in sustenance than meat, and every droppings is fodder for your animals." So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Do not clean yourselves with them, as they are the food of your jinn brothers."' "
