When the Prophet ﷺ feared a (group of) people, he would say: "O Allah, we make Thee our shield against them, and take refuge in Thee from their evils." (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1537)
I heard ‘Iyad al-Ashʿari say: i was present at al-Yarmouk and we had five commanders over us: Abu ʿUbaidah bin al-Jarrah, Yazeed bin Abi Sufyan, Ibn Hasanah, Khalid bin al-Waleed and ʿIyad - and this ʿIyad was not the one who narrated reports to Simak. - ʿUmar ؓ said: If fighting occurs, then your commander is Abu ʿUbaidah. So we wrote to him, saying: We are facing death; and we asked him for reinforcements. He wrote to us, saying: I have received your letter asking for reinforcements and I can tell you about who has the greatest support and the most ready troops. Allah, may He be glorified and exalted, ask Him for support, for Muhammad ﷺ was caused to prevail on the day of Badr with fewer than your numbers. When this letter of mine reaches you, fight them without referring back to me. So we fought them, and we defeated them, pursuing and killing them for four parasangs, and we acquired wealth (booly). They discussed the issue (of booty) and ‘Iyad suggested to us that we should give ten for every head. And Abu ʼUbaidah said: Who will compete with me (in a horse race)? A young man said: I will, if you donʿt get angry. Then he beat him, and I saw the two braids of Abu ‘Ubaidah flying as he raced behind him on an Arabian horse. (Using translation from Aḥmad 344)

"I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: 'Bring me the weak, for you only receive provision and Divine support by virtue of your weak ones.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 3179)

"Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "A time will come upon the people, when a group of people will wage a holy war and it will be said, 'Is there amongst you anyone who has accompanied Messenger of Allah ﷺ?' They will say, 'Yes.' And so victory will be bestowed on them. Then a time will come upon the people when a group of people will wage a holy war, and it will be said, "Is there amongst you anynone who has accompanied the companions of Messenger of Allah ﷺ?' They will say, 'Yes.' And so victory will be bestowed on them. Then a time will come upon the people when a group of people will wage a holy war, and it will be said, "Is there amongst you anyone who has been in the company of the companions of the companions of Messenger of Allah ﷺ ?' They will say, 'Yes.' And victory will be bestowed on them." (Using translation from Bukhārī 3649)

[Machine] On the day of Hunayn, when Hawazin and Ghatafan arrived with their offspring and possessions, along with the Prophet ﷺ were ten thousand people and the free men. They turned away from him until he remained alone. He called out twice on that day with two different calls that were not mixed together. He turned to his right and said, "O people of the Ansar!" They replied, "Here we are, O Messenger of Allah! We are with you!" He then turned to his left and said, "O people of the Ansar!" They replied, "Here we are, O Messenger of Allah! We are with you!" He was riding a white she-mule and then dismounted and said, "I am Abdullah, the slave of Allah and His Messenger." The polytheists were then defeated, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ obtained many spoils of war. He distributed them among the emigrants and the free men, but did not give anything to the Ansar. The Ansar said, "When there is a difficulty, we are with you, but when there is plunder, you give it to others and not us." When the Prophet learned of this, he gathered them in one place and said, "O people of the Ansar, what rumor has reached me?" They remained silent. He then said, "O people of the Ansar, would you not be satisfied if people went with the sheep and you went with Muhammad ﷺ to your homes?" They replied, "O Messenger of Allah, we are satisfied." He said, "If the people took one path and the Ansar took another, I would take the path of the Ansar."

[Machine] About the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the day of Hunayn? Al-Bara' said, "But the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not flee, indeed the Hawazin were a group of expert archers. I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ riding on a white mule, while Abu Sufyan ibn al-Harith was holding its reins and he (the Messenger) was saying, 'I am the Prophet, there is no falsehood in that. I am the son of Abdul-Muttalib.'"
The Prophet ﷺ said: "There are three whom Allah (SWT) loves: A man who comes to some people and asks (to be given something) for the sake of Allah and not for the sake of their relationship, but they do not give him, so a man stayed behind and gave it to him in secret, and no one knew of his giving except Allah (SWT) and the one to whom he gave it. People who travel all night until sleep becomes dearer to them than anything equated with it, so they lay down their heads (and slept), then a man among them got up and started praying to Me and beseeching Me, reciting My Verses. And a man who was on a campaign and met the enemy and they fled, but he went forward (pursuing them) until he was killed or victory was granted." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1615)
[Machine] About the first scene witnessed by the Prophet Muhammadﷺ he said, "By Allah, if Allah shows me a battle, He will show me what I will do." So, on the day of Uhud, the companions of the Prophetﷺ were defeated. Sa'd ibn Mu'adh came forward and said, "Where? Where? By the One in whose hand is my soul, I can smell the fragrance of Paradise below Uhud." He then picked up his weapon and fought until he was killed. Sa'd, may Allah be pleased with him, said, "By Allah, O Messenger of Allah, I have endured what no one can endure." His sister said, "By Allah, I did not know my brother except for his beautiful face. He was found to have eighty-two wounds from sword strikes, arrow shots, and spear stabs. Then Allah revealed: 'Among the believers are men who have been true to their covenant with Allah; some of them have fulfilled their vow, and some are still waiting. And they have not changed in the least.'" Hammad said, "And I read in the Qur'an of my father, 'And among them are those who have changed.'"
[Machine] "To let one person fight ten would be too heavy and burdensome for them, and it would also be difficult for them. So, that responsibility was taken away from them until one person would fight two. Then Allah revealed in that regard, 'If there are twenty steadfast among you...' until the end of the verse. Then He said, 'If it were not for a decree from Allah that preceded, you would have been touched for what you took by a great punishment.' By that, it means the spoils of Badr. If it were not for my leniency towards those who disobey me, I would have already punished them until I advance towards them."
[Machine] We accompanied the Messenger of Allah ﷺ without knowing the news of the people who had gathered against us. So we encountered the valley of Hunayn in the darkness of dawn, and it was a hollow valley among the valleys of Tihama. They were descending into it rapidly. He (the Messenger) said, "By Allah, people are following each other in a manner that they are not aware of anything, as the battalions have reached them from every direction." The people did not anticipate being defeated, so they started retreating.
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then turned to the right side and said, "Where are you people? I am the Messenger of Allah and I am Muhammad ibn Abdullah." At that time, there was a large man riding a red camel with a black flag in his hand. He stabbed with it when he reached and pushed it from behind when he missed something in front of him. Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) noticed him, as well as a man from the Ansar. Both of them intended to confront him.
Ali struck the two humps of the camel, causing it to fall on its side, while the Ansari man attacked his leg, causing him to fall and severing half of his leg. The people engaged in fighting until they faced defeat. Safwan ibn Umayyah's brother-in-law, who was present, said, "Indeed, magic has ended today." At that time, Safwan ibn Umayyah was a polytheist. He had suffered a blow from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during the Battle of Uhud. Safwan said to him, "Be quiet, may Allah make your mouth useless." Then he said, "By Allah, a man from Quraysh supporting me is more beloved to me than a man from Hawazin supporting me."

[Machine] About Abu Talha, then indeed the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered on the day of Badr twenty-four men from the ranks of the Quraish to be thrown into a pit in the valleys of Badr. And whenever he would appear before a people, he preferred to camp with them for three nights. So, on the third day, he commanded his camel to be saddled and he rode it and his companions followed him. They said, "We do not see him departing except for some of his needs." Until he reached the edge of the sand dune, then he called them by their names and their fathers' names, saying, "O so-and-so son of so-and-so, are you pleased that you have obeyed Allah and His Messenger? Verily, we have found what our Lord has promised us to be true. Have you found what your Lord promised you to be true?" Umar bin Al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "O Messenger of Allah, are you speaking to bodies without souls?" The Prophet ﷺ said, "By the One in Whose hand is my soul, you do not hear what I say more than they do." Qatada said, "Allah has given them life until He made them hear rebuke, belittlement, punishment, regret, and remorse."

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ besieged the people of Ta'if, but did get victory over them. He said: God willing, we shall return. His Companions said: Shall we depart without having conquered it? The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: (All right) make a raid in the morning. They did so. and were wounded (with the arrows showered upon them). So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: We shall depart tomorrow. (The narrator says): (Now) this (announcement) pleased them, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ laughed at (their waywardness). (Using translation from Muslim 1778)

"On the day of (the battle of) Al-Ahzab, Sa'd bin Mu'adh was struck by an arrow such that the upper vein or lower vein of his forearm was severed. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ tried to stop it with fire, but it made his arm bleed profusely so he left it. Then he did it another time but it caused it to bleed profusely. Upon seeing that he said: 'O Allah! Do not allow my soul depart until my eyes are comforted by elimination of Banu Quraizah.' He pressed his vein closed and it did not bleed a drop before they surrendered to the arbitration of Sa'd bin Mu'adh. He (the Prophet ﷺ) sent to him (Sa'd) who judged that their men should be killed, their women should be spared, and that the Muslims may share them among themselves. With this, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'You have judged according to Allah's judgement for them.' And they were four hundred. Then when he finished killing them, his vein opened up and he died." [He said:] There are narrations on this topic from Abu Sa'eed and 'Atiyyah Al-Qurazi. (Using translation from Tirmidhī 1582)
