The Prophet ﷺ said, "Who among you considers the wealth of his heirs dearer to him than his own wealth?" They replied, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! There is none among us but loves his own wealth more." The Prophet ﷺ said, "So his wealth is whatever he spends (in Allah's Cause) during his life (on good deeds) while the wealth of his heirs is whatever he leaves after his death."  

البخاري:٦٤٤٢ – حَدَّثَنِي عُمَرُ بْنُ حَفْصٍ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي حَدَّثَنَا الأَعْمَشُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي إِبْرَاهِيمُ التَّيْمِيُّ عَنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ سُوَيْدٍ قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ

ابن حبّان:٣٣٣٠ – أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ التَّيْمِيِّ عَنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ سُوَيْدٍ قَالَ قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «أَيُّكُمْ مَالُهُ أَحَبُّ إِلَيْهِ مِنْ مَالِ وَارِثِهِ»؟ قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَا مِنَّا أَحَدٌ إِلَّا مَالُهُ أَحَبُّ إِلَيْهِ مِنْ مَالِ وَارِثِهِ قَالَ «اعْلَمُوا مَا تَقُولُونَ» قَالُوا مَا نَعْلَمُ إِلَّا ذَاكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ «مَا مِنْكُمْ رَجُلٌ إِلَّا مَالُ وَارِثِهِ أَحَبُّ إِلَيْهِ مِنْ مَالِهِ» قَالُوا كَيْفَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ «إِنَّمَا مَالُ أَحَدِكُمْ مَا قَدَّمَ وَمَالُ وَارِثِهِ مَا أَخَّرَ»

adab:153 – Ibn Masʿūd

'Abdullah reported that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "Which of you prefers the money of heirs to his own money?" "Messenger of Allah," they replied, "there is none of us who does not prefer his own wealth to that of his heirs." The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "Know that there is not one of you who does not prefer his heirs' money to his own. Your wealth is what you have spent (for Allah) and the wealth of your heirs is what you leave."  

الأدب المفرد:١٥٣ – حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلاَمٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الأَعْمَشُ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ التَّيْمِيِّ عَنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ سُوَيْدٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ
