ʿAbdullah cursed those women who practiced tattooing and those who removed hair from their faces and those who created spaces between their teeth artificially to look beautiful, such ladies as changed what Allah has created. Um Ya'qub said, "What is that?" ʿAbdullah said, "Why should I not curse those who were cursed by Messenger of Allah ﷺ and are referred to in Allah's Book?" She said to him "By Allah, I have read the whole Qur'an but I have not found such a thing. ʿAbdullah said, "By Allah, if you had read it (carefully) you would have found it. (Allah says:) 'And what the Apostle gives you take it and what he forbids you abstain (from it).' (59.7)

البخاري:٥٩٣٩ – حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ أَخْبَرَنَا جَرِيرٌ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ قَالَ

لَعَنَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ الْوَاشِمَاتِ وَالْمُتَنَمِّصَاتِ وَالْمُتَفَلِّجَاتِ لِلْحُسْنِ الْمُغَيِّرَاتِ خَلْقَ اللَّهِ فَقَالَتْ أُمُّ يَعْقُوبَ مَا هَذَا قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ وَمَا لِيَ لاَ أَلْعَنُ مَنْ لَعَنَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ وَفِي كِتَابِ اللَّهِ قَالَتْ وَاللَّهِ لَقَدْ قَرَأْتُ مَا بَيْنَ اللَّوْحَيْنِ فَمَا وَجَدْتُهُ قَالَ وَاللَّهِ لَئِنْ قَرَأْتِيهِ لَقَدْ وَجَدْتِيهِ {وَمَا آتَاكُمُ الرَّسُولُ فَخُذُوهُ وَمَا نَهَاكُمْ عَنْهُ فَانْتَهُوا}

قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: {وَمَا نَهَاكُمْ عَنْهُ فَانْتَهُوا} [الحشر: 7]

ʿAbdullah (bin Masud) said. "Allah curses those ladies who practice tattooing and those who get themselves tattooed, and those ladies who remove the hair from their faces and those who make artificial spaces between their teeth in order to look more beautiful whereby they change Allah's creation." His saying reached a lady from Bani Asd called Um Yaqub who came (to ʿAbdullah) and said, "I have come to know that you have cursed such-and-such (ladies)?" He replied, "Why should I not curse these whom Messenger of Allah ﷺ has cursed and who are (cursed) in Allah's Book!" Um Yaqub said, "I have read the whole Qur'an, but I did not find in it what you say." He said, "Verily, if you have read it (i.e. the Qur'an), you have found it. Didn't you read: 'And whatsoever the Apostle gives you take it and whatsoever he forbids you, you abstain (from it). (59.7) She replied, "Yes, I did," He said, "Verily, Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade such things." "She said, "But I see your wife doing these things?" He said, "Go and watch her." She went and watched her but could not see anything in support of her statement. On that he said, "If my wife was as you thought, I would not keep her in my company." الكبرى للنسائي:١١٥١٥ – أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَافِعٍ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الْمُبَارَكِ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ آدَمَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْمُفَضَّلُ بْنُ مُهَلْهِلٍ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ

«لَعَنَ اللهُ الْوَاشِمَاتِ وَالْمَوْشُومَاتِ وَالْمُتَنَمِّصَاتِ وَالْمُتَفَلِّجَاتِ لِلْحُسْنِ الْمُغَيِّرَاتِ خَلْقَ اللهِ» فَبَلَغَتِ امْرَأَةً مِنْ بَنِي أَسَدٍ يُقَالُ لَهَا أُمُّ يَعْقُوبَ فَأَتَتْهُ فَقَالَتْ بَلَغَنِي أَنَّكَ لَعَنْتَ كَيْتَ وَكَيْتَ؟ قَالَ «أَلَا أَلْعَنُ مَنْ لَعَنَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ فِي كِتَابِ اللهِ» قَالَتْ لَقَدْ قَرَأْتُ مَا بَيْنَ لَوْحَيِ الْمُصْحَفِ فَمَا وَجَدْتُهُ؟ قَالَ لَئِنْ كُنْتِ قَرَأْتِيهِ لَقَدْ وَجَدْتِيهِ أَمَا وَجَدْتِ {وَمَا آتَاكُمُ الرَّسُولُ فَخُذُوهُ وَمَا نَهَاكُمْ عَنْهُ فَانْتَهُوا} [الحشر 7]؟ قَالَتْ بَلَى وَإِنِّي أَظُنُّ أَهْلَكَ يَفْعَلُونَ بَعْضَ ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ «ادْخُلِي فَانْظُرِي» فَدَخَلَتْ ثُمَّ خَرَجَتْ قَالَتْ مَا رَأَيْتُ شَيْئًا قَالَ «لَوْ فَعَلَتْهُ لَمْ تُجَامِعْنَا»
