Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Adam and Moses argued with each other. Moses said to Adam. 'You are Adam whose mistake expelled you from Paradise.' Adam said to him, 'You are Moses whom Allah selected as His Messenger and as the one to whom He spoke directly; yet you blame me for a thing which had already been written in my fate before my creation?"' Messenger of Allah ﷺ said twice, "So, Adam overpowered Moses."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ احْتَجَّ آدَمُ وَمُوسَى فَقَالَ لَهُ مُوسَى أَنْتَ آدَمُ الَّذِي أَخْرَجَتْكَ خَطِيئَتُكَ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ فَقَالَ لَهُ آدَمُ أَنْتَ مُوسَى الَّذِي اصْطَفَاكَ اللَّهُ بِرِسَالاَتِهِ وَبِكَلاَمِهِ ثُمَّ تَلُومُنِي عَلَى أَمْرٍ قُدِّرَ عَلَىَّ قَبْلَ أَنْ أُخْلَقَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَحَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى مَرَّتَيْنِ

Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Adam and Moses met, and Moses said to Adam "You are the one who made people miserable and turned them out of Paradise." Adam said to him, "You are the one whom Allah selected for His message and whom He selected for Himself and upon whom He revealed the Torah." Moses said, 'Yes.' Adam said, "Did you find that written in my fate before my creation?' Moses said, 'Yes.' So Adam overcame Moses with this argument."

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ الْتَقَى آدَمُ وَمُوسَى فَقَالَ مُوسَى لآدَمَ أَنْتَ الَّذِي أَشْقَيْتَ النَّاسَ وَأَخْرَجْتَهُمْ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ قَالَ لَهُ آدَمُ أَنْتَ الَّذِي اصْطَفَاكَ اللَّهُ بِرِسَالَتِهِ وَاصْطَفَاكَ لِنَفْسِهِ وَأَنْزَلَ عَلَيْكَ التَّوْرَاةَ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ فَوَجَدْتَهَا كُتِبَ عَلَىَّ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَخْلُقَنِي قَالَ نَعَمْ فَحَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى الْيَمُّ الْبَحْرُ

The Prophet ﷺ said, "Moses argued with Adam and said to him (Adam), 'You are the one who got the people out of Paradise by your sin, and thus made them miserable." Adam replied, 'O Moses! You are the one whom Allah selected for His Message and for His direct talk. Yet you blame me for a thing which Allah had ordained for me before He created me?." Messenger of Allah ﷺ further said, "So Adam overcame Moses by this Argument."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ حَاجَّ مُوسَى آدَمَ فَقَالَ لَهُ أَنْتَ الَّذِي أَخْرَجْتَ النَّاسَ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ بِذَنْبِكَ وَأَشْقَيْتَهُمْ قَالَ قَالَ آدَمُ يَا مُوسَى أَنْتَ الَّذِي اصْطَفَاكَ اللَّهُ بِرِسَالَتِهِ وَبِكَلاَمِهِ أَتَلُومُنِي عَلَى أَمْرٍ كَتَبَهُ اللَّهُ عَلَىَّ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَخْلُقَنِي أَوْ قَدَّرَهُ عَلَىَّ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَخْلُقَنِي قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَحَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى

The Prophet ﷺ said, "Adam and Moses argued with each other. Moses said to Adam. 'O Adam! You are our father who disappointed us and turned us out of Paradise.' Then Adam said to him, 'O Moses! Allah favored you with His talk (talked to you directly) and He wrote (the Torah) for you with His Own Hand. Do you blame me for action which Allah had written in my fate forty years before my creation?' So Adam confuted Moses, Adam confuted Moses," the Prophet ﷺ added, repeating the Statement three times.

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ احْتَجَّ آدَمُ وَمُوسَى فَقَالَ لَهُ مُوسَى يَا آدَمُ أَنْتَ أَبُونَا خَيَّبْتَنَا وَأَخْرَجْتَنَا مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ قَالَ لَهُ آدَمُ يَا مُوسَى اصْطَفَاكَ اللَّهُ بِكَلاَمِهِ وَخَطَّ لَكَ بِيَدِهِ أَتَلُومُنِي عَلَى أَمْرٍ قَدَّرَ اللَّهُ عَلَىَّ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَخْلُقَنِي بِأَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً فَحَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى فَحَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى ثَلاَثًا قَالَ سُفْيَانُ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزِّنَادِ عَنِ الأَعْرَجِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ مِثْلَهُ

The Prophet ﷺ said, "Adam and Moses debated with each other and Moses said, 'You are Adam who turned out your offspring from Paradise.' Adam said, "You are Moses whom Allah chose for His Message and for His direct talk, yet you blame me for a matter which had been ordained for me even before my creation?' Thus Adam overcame Moses."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ احْتَجَّ آدَمُ وَمُوسَى فَقَالَ مُوسَى أَنْتَ آدَمُ الَّذِي أَخْرَجْتَ ذُرِّيَّتَكَ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ قَالَ آدَمُ أَنْتَ مُوسَى الَّذِي اصْطَفَاكَ اللَّهُ بِرِسَالاَتِهِ وَكَلاَمِهِ ثُمَّ تَلُومُنِي عَلَى أَمْرٍ قَدْ قُدِّرَ عَلَىَّ قَبْلَ أَنْ أُخْلَقَ فَحَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى

There was argument between Adam and Moses. Moses said to Adam: You are our father. You did us harm and caused us to get out of Paradise. Adam said to him: You are Moses. Allah selected you (for direct conversation with you) and wrote with His own Hand the Book (Torah) for you. Despite this you blame me for an act which Allah had ordained for me forty years before He created me. Allah's Apostle ﷺ said:. This is how Adam came the better of Moses and Adam came the better of Moses.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ احْتَجَّ آدَمُ وَمُوسَى فَقَالَ مُوسَى يَا آدَمُ أَنْتَ أَبُونَا خَيَّبْتَنَا وَأَخْرَجْتَنَا مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ فَقَالَ لَهُ آدَمُ أَنْتَ مُوسَى اصْطَفَاكَ اللَّهُ بِكَلاَمِهِ وَخَطَّ لَكَ بِيَدِهِ أَتَلُومُنِي عَلَى أَمْرٍ قَدَّرَهُ اللَّهُ عَلَىَّ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَخْلُقَنِي بِأَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَحَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى فَحَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى وَفِي حَدِيثِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَرَ وَابْنِ عَبْدَةَ قَالَ أَحَدُهُمَا خَطَّ وَقَالَ الآخَرُ كَتَبَ لَكَ التَّوْرَاةَ بِيَدِهِ

There was argument between Adam and Moses, and Adam came the better of Moses. Moses said to him: You are the same Adam who misled people, and caused them to get out of Paradise. Adam said: You are the same (Moses) whom Allah endowed the knowledge of everything and selected him amongst the people as His Messenger. He said: Yes. Adam then again said: Even then you blame me for an affair which had been ordained for me before I was created.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ تَحَاجَّ آدَمُ وَمُوسَى فَحَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى فَقَالَ لَهُ مُوسَى أَنْتَ آدَمُ الَّذِي أَغْوَيْتَ النَّاسَ وَأَخْرَجْتَهُمْ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ فَقَالَ آدَمُ أَنْتَ الَّذِي أَعْطَاهُ اللَّهُ عِلْمَ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ وَاصْطَفَاهُ عَلَى النَّاسِ بِرِسَالَتِهِ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ فَتَلُومُنِي عَلَى أَمْرٍ قُدِّرَ عَلَىَّ قَبْلَ أَنْ أُخْلَقَ

There was an argument between Adam and Moses (peace be upon both of them) in the presence of their Lord. Adam came the better of Moses. Moses said: Are you that Adam whom Allah created with His Hand and breathed into himHis sprit, and commanded angels to fall in prostration before him and He made you live in Paradise with comfort and ease. Then you caused the people to get down to the earth because of your lapse. Adam said: Are you that Moses whom Allah selected for His Messengership and for His conversation with him and conferred upon you the tablets, in which everything was clearly explained and granted you the audience in order to have confidential talk with you. What is your opinion, how long Torah would haye been written before I was created? Moses said: Forty years before. Adam said: Did you not see these words: Adam committed an error and he was enticed to (do so). He (Moses) said: Yes. Whereupon, he (Adam) said: Do you then blame me for an act which Allah had ordained for me forty years before He created me? Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: This is how Adam came the better of Moses.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ احْتَجَّ آدَمُ وَمُوسَى عَلَيْهِمَا السَّلاَمُ عِنْدَ رَبِّهِمَا فَحَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى قَالَ مُوسَى أَنْتَ آدَمُ الَّذِي خَلَقَكَ اللَّهُ بِيَدِهِ وَنَفَخَ فِيكَ مِنْ رُوحِهِ وَأَسْجَدَ لَكَ مَلاَئِكَتَهُ وَأَسْكَنَكَ فِي جَنَّتِهِ ثُمَّ أَهْبَطْتَ النَّاسَ بِخَطِيئَتِكَ إِلَى الأَرْضِ فَقَالَ آدَمُ أَنْتَ مُوسَى الَّذِي اصْطَفَاكَ اللَّهُ بِرِسَالَتِهِ وَبِكَلاَمِهِ وَأَعْطَاكَ الأَلْوَاحَ فِيهَا تِبْيَانُ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ وَقَرَّبَكَ نَجِيًّا فَبِكَمْ وَجَدْتَ اللَّهَ كَتَبَ التَّوْرَاةَ قَبْلَ أَنْ أُخْلَقَ قَالَ مُوسَى بِأَرْبَعِينَ عَامًا قَالَ آدَمُ فَهَلْ وَجَدْتَ فِيهَا { وَعَصَى آدَمُ رَبَّهُ فَغَوَى} قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ أَفَتَلُومُنِي عَلَى أَنْ عَمِلْتُ عَمَلاً كَتَبَهُ اللَّهُ عَلَىَّ أَنْ أَعْمَلَهُ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَخْلُقَنِي بِأَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَحَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى

There was an argument between Adam and Moses. Moses said: Are you that Adam whose lapse caused you to get out of Paradise? Adam said to him: Are you that Moses whom Allah selected for His Messengership, for His conversation and you blame me for an affair which had been ordained for me before I was created? This is how Adam came the better of Moses.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ احْتَجَّ آدَمُ وَمُوسَى فَقَالَ لَهُ مُوسَى أَنْتَ آدَمُ الَّذِي أَخْرَجَتْكَ خَطِيئَتُكَ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ فَقَالَ لَهُ آدَمُ أَنْتَ مُوسَى الَّذِي اصْطَفَاكَ اللَّهُ بِرِسَالَتِهِ وَبِكَلاَمِهِ ثُمَّ تَلُومُنِي عَلَى أَمْرٍ قَدْ قُدِّرَ عَلَىَّ قَبْلَ أَنْ أُخْلَقَ فَحَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى

Adam and Moses held a disputation. Moses said : Adam you are our father. You deprived us and caused us to come out from Paradise. Adam said : You are Moses Allah chose you for his speech and wrote the Torah for you with his hand. Do you blame me for doing a deed which Allah had decreed that I should do forty year before he created me? So Adam got the better of Moses in argument. Ahmad b. Salih said from 'Amr from Tawus who heard Abu Hurairah.

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ احْتَجَّ آدَمُ وَمُوسَى فَقَالَ مُوسَى يَا آدَمُ أَنْتَ أَبُونَا خَيَّبْتَنَا وَأَخْرَجْتَنَا مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ فَقَالَ آدَمُ أَنْتَ مُوسَى اصْطَفَاكَ اللَّهُ بِكَلاَمِهِ وَخَطَّ لَكَ التَّوْرَاةَ بِيَدِهِ تَلُومُنِي عَلَى أَمْرٍ قَدَّرَهُ عَلَىَّ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَخْلُقَنِي بِأَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً فَحَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى قَالَ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ عَنْ عَمْرٍو عَنْ طَاوُسٍ سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ

"Adam and Musa argued, Musa said: "O Adam! You are the one that Allah created with His Hand, and blew into you of His Spirit, and you misled the people and caused them to be expelled from Paradise.' So Adam said: 'You are Musa, the one Allah selected with His Speech! Are you blaming me for something I did which Allah had decreed for me, before creating the heavens and the earth?'" He said: " So Adam confuted Musa."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ احْتَجَّ آدَمُ وَمُوسَى فَقَالَ مُوسَى يَا آدَمُ أَنْتَ الَّذِي خَلَقَكَ اللَّهُ بِيَدِهِ وَنَفَخَ فِيكَ مِنْ رُوحِهِ أَغْوَيْتَ النَّاسَ وَأَخْرَجْتَهُمْ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ قَالَ فَقَالَ آدَمُ وَأَنْتَ مُوسَى الَّذِي اصْطَفَاكَ اللَّهُ بِكَلاَمِهِ أَتَلُومُنِي عَلَى عَمَلٍ عَمِلْتُهُ كَتَبَهُ اللَّهُ عَلَىَّ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَخْلُقَ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالأَرْضَ قَالَ فَحَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى

"I heard Abu Hurairah narrating that the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Adam and Musa debated, and Musa said to him: "O Adam, you are our father but have deprived us and caused us to be expelled from Paradise because of your sin." Adam said to him: "O Musa, Allah chose you to speak with, and he wrote the Tawrah for you with His own Hand. Are you blaming me for something which Allah decreed for me forty years before He created me?" Thus Adam won the argument with Musa, thus Adam won the argument with Musa.'"

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ احْتَجَّ آدَمُ وَمُوسَى فَقَالَ لَهُ مُوسَى يَا آدَمُ أَنْتَ أَبُونَا خَيَّبْتَنَا وَأَخْرَجْتَنَا مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ بِذَنْبِكَ فَقَالَ لَهُ آدَمُ يَا مُوسَى اصْطَفَاكَ اللَّهُ بِكَلاَمِهِ وَخَطَّ لَكَ التَّوْرَاةَ بِيَدِهِ أَتَلُومُنِي عَلَى أَمْرٍ قَدَّرَهُ اللَّهُ عَلَىَّ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَخْلُقَنِي بِأَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً فَحَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى فَحَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى فَحَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى ثَلاَثًا

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ احْتَجَّ آدَمُ وَمُوسَى عَلَيْهِمَا السَّلَامُ فَقَالَ مُوسَى يَا آدَمُ أَنْتَ أَبُونَا خَيَّبْتَنَا وَأَخْرَجْتَنَا مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ فَقَالَ لَهُ آدَمُ يَا مُوسَى أَنْتَ اصْطَفَاكَ اللهُ بِكَلَامِهِ وَقَالَ مَرَّةً بِرِسَالَتِهِ وَخَطَّ لَكَ بِيَدِهِ أَتَلُومُنِي عَلَى أَمْرٍ قَدَّرَهُ اللهُ عَلَيَّ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَخْلُقَنِي بِأَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً؟ قَالَ حَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى حَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى حَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى

There was an argument between Adam and Moses. Moses said: Are you that Adam whose lapse caused you to get out of Paradise? قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ احْتَجَّ آدَمُ وَمُوسَى عَلَيْهِمَا السَّلَامُ فَقَالَ لَهُ مُوسَى أَنْتَ آدَمُ الَّذِي أَخْرَجَتْكَ خَطِيئَتُكَ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ؟ فَقَالَ لَهُ آدَمُ وَأَنْتَ مُوسَى الَّذِي اصْطَفَاكَ اللهُ بِكَلَامِهِوَبِرِسَالَتِهِ تَلُومُنِي عَلَى أَمْرٍ قُدِّرَ عَلَيَّ قَبْلَ أَنْ أُخْلَقَ؟ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَحَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى فَحَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, Adam and Moses debated, and Moses said to Adam, "O Adam, it is you who brought your descendants into the Fire?" Adam replied, "O Moses, Allah chose you with His message and His words and He sent down upon you the Torah. Did you find that I had any intention to descend?" Moses said, "Yes." So, Adam silenced him.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ احْتَجَّ آدَمُ وَمُوسَى فَقَالَ مُوسَى لِآدَمَ يَا آدَمُ أَنْتَ الَّذِي أَدْخَلْتَ ذُرِّيَّتَكَ النَّارَ؟ فَقَالَ آدَمُ يَا مُوسَى اصْطَفَاكَ اللهُ بِرِسَالَتِهِ وَبِكَلَامِهِ وَأَنْزَلَ عَلَيْكَ التَّوْرَاةَ فَهَلْ وَجَدْتَ أَنِّي أَهْبِطُ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ فَحَجَّهُ آدَمُ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Adam replied to Musa: 'O Adam, it is you who expelled people from Paradise with your sin and caused their misery?' Adam said to him: 'O Musa, it is you whom Allah has chosen among people with His messages and words, so why do you blame me for something that Allah had written for me or destined upon me before He created me?' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then said: 'Thus, Adam debated with Musa.'"

رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ تَحَاجَّ آدَمُ وَمُوسَى فَقَالَ لَهُ مُوسَى أَنْتَ آدَمُ الَّذِي أَغْوَيْتَ النَّاسَ وَأَخْرَجْتَهُمْ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ إِلَى الْأَرْضِ؟ فَقَالَ لَهُ آدَمُ أَنْتَ مُوسَى الَّذِي أَعْطَاكَ اللهُ عِلْمَ كُلِّشَيْءٍ وَاصْطَفَاكَ عَلَى النَّاسِ بِرِسَالَتِهِ ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ أَتَلُومُنِي عَلَى أَمْرٍ كَانَ قَدْ كُتِبَ عَلَيَّ أَنْ أَفْعَلَ مِنْ قَبْلِ أَنْ أُخْلَقَ؟ قَالَ فَحَاجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Adam met Musa and said to him, 'Are you Adam whom Allah created with His own hand, and He made you dwell in His Paradise and He made His angels prostrate to you, and then you did what you did?' Adam replied to Musa, 'Are you Musa whom Allah spoke to and revealed the Torah upon? Musa replied, 'Yes.' Adam then asked Musa, 'Do you find that it was written on me to commit that sin before I was created?' Musa replied, 'Yes.' So Adam debated with Musa, and Adam got the better of Musa."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَقِيَ آدَمَ مُوسَى فَقَالَ أَنْتَ آدَمُ الَّذِي خَلَقَكَ اللهُ بِيَدِهِ وَأَسْكَنَكَ جَنَّتَهُ وَأَسْجَدَ لَكَ مَلَائِكَتَهُ ثُمَّ صَنَعْتَ مَا صَنَعْتَ؟ فَقَالَ آدَمُ لِمُوسَى أَنْتَ الَّذِي كَلَّمَه اللهُ وَأَنْزَلَ عَلَيْه التَّوْرَاةَ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ فَهَلْ تَجِدُهُ مَكْتُوبًا عَلَيَّ قَبْلَ أَنْ أُخْلَقَ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ فَحَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى فَحَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى

"Adam and Musa argued, Musa said: "O Adam! You are the one that Allah created with His Hand, and blew into you of His Spirit, and you misled the people and caused them to be expelled from Paradise.' So Adam said: 'You are Musa, the one Allah selected with His Speech! Are you blaming me for something I did which Allah had decreed for me, before creating the heavens and the earth?'" He said: " So Adam confuted Musa." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 2134)

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ احْتَجَّ آدَمُ وَمُوسَى قَالَ فَقَالَ مُوسَى يَا آدَمُ أَنْتَ الَّذِي خَلَقَكَ اللهُ بِيَدِهِ وَنَفَخَ فِيكَ مِنْ رُوحِهِ أَغْوَيْتَ النَّاسَ وَأَخْرَجْتَهُمْ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ قَالَ فَقَالَ آدَمُ أَنْتَ مُوسَى الَّذِي اصْطَفَاكَ اللهُ بِكَلَامِهِ تَلُومُنِي عَلَى عَمَلٍ أَعْمَلُهُ كَتَبَهُ اللهُ عَلَيَّ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَخْلُقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ قَالَ فَحَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى

[AI] Adam and Moses, peace be upon them, disputed with each other. So, Adam argued against Moses and said, "You are Moses, the one whom Allah has chosen with His messages and His words, and He revealed the Torah to you. Don't you find in it that Allah had predestined my actions before He created me?" Moses replied, "Yes, indeed." Humaid bin Abdul Rahman al-Humairi reported that Adam debated with Moses. Muhammad said, "The first part of the conversation is sufficient for me." So, Adam and Moses, peace be upon them, disputed with each other.

اخْتَصَمَ آدَمُ وَمُوسَى عَلَيْهِمَا السَّلَامُ فَخَصَمَ آدَمُ مُوسَى فَقَالَ مُوسَى أَنْتَ آدَمُ الَّذِي أَشْقَيْتَ النَّاسَ وَأَخْرَجْتَهُمْ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ فَقَالَ آدَمُ أَنْتَ مُوسَى الَّذِي اصْطَفَاكَ اللهُ بِرِسَالَاتِهِ وَبِكَلَامِهِ وَأَنْزَلَ عَلَيْكَ التَّوْرَاةَ أَلَيْسَ تَجِدُ فِيهَا أَنْ قَدْ قَدَّرَهُ اللهُ عَلَيَّ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَخْلُقَنِي؟ قَالَ بَلَى قَالَ عَمْرُو بْنُ سَعِيدٍ فَقَالَ حُمَيْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْحِمْيَرِيُّ فَحَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ يَكْفِينِي أَوَّلُ الْحَدِيثِ فَخَصَمَ آدَمُ مُوسَى عَلَيْهِمَا السَّلَامُ

[AI] "From the Prophet ﷺ , he said: Adam met Moses, so Moses said to him, 'You are Adam, whom Allah created with His own hand, and His angels prostrated to you, and He made you dwell in Paradise. Then you did what you did.' Adam replied, 'You are Moses, whom Allah spoke to and chose for His message, and He revealed the Torah to you. So, am I superior or are you superior?' Moses said, 'No, rather the superiority is for the male.' So, Adam debated with Moses and Moses debated with Adam."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ لَقِيَ آدَمَ مُوسَى فَقَالَ أَنْتَ آدَمُ الَّذِي خَلَقَكَ اللهُ بِيَدِهِ وَأَسْجَدَ لَكَ مَلَائِكَتَهُ وَأَسْكَنَكَ الْجَنَّةَ ثُمَّ فَعَلْتَ فَقَالَ أَنْتَ مُوسَى الَّذِي كَلَّمَكَ اللهُ وَاصْطَفَاكَ بِرِسَالَتِهِ وَأَنْزَلَ عَلَيْكَ التَّوْرَاةَ ثُمَّ أَنَا أَقْدَمُ أَمِ الذِّكْرُ؟ قَالَ لَا بَلِ الذِّكْرُ فَحَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى فَحَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى

Yahya related to me from Malik from Abu'z-Zinad from al-Araj from Abu Hurayra that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Adam and Musa argued and Adam got the better of Musa. Musa rebuked Adam, 'You are Adam who led people astray and brought them out of the Garden.' Adam said to him, 'You are Musa to whom Allah gave knowledge of everything and whom he chose above people with His message.' He said, 'Yes.' He said, 'Do you then censure me for a matter which was decreed for me before I was created?' "

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ تَحَاجَّ آدَمُ وَمُوسَى فَحَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى قَالَ لَهُ مُوسَى أَنْتَ آدَمُ الَّذِي أَغْوَيْتَ النَّاسَ وَأَخْرَجْتَهُمْ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ فَقَالَ لَهُ آدَمُ أَنْتَ مُوسَى الَّذِي أَعْطَاهُ اللَّهُ عِلْمَ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ وَاصْطَفَاهُ عَلَى النَّاسِ بِرِسَالَتِهِ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ أَفَتَلُومُنِي عَلَى أَمْرٍ قَدْ قُدِّرَ عَلَىَّ قَبْلَ أَنْ أُخْلَقَ

"Adam and Musa argued, Musa said: "O Adam! You are the one that Allah created with His Hand, and blew into you of His Spirit, and you misled the people and caused them to be expelled from Paradise.' So Adam said: 'You are Musa, the one Allah selected with His Speech! Are you blaming me for something I did which Allah had decreed for me, before creating the heavens and the earth?'" He said: " So Adam confuted Musa." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 2134)

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «احْتَجَّ آدَمُ وَمُوسَى فَقَالَ مُوسَى أَنْتَ آدَمُ الَّذِي خَلَقَكَ اللَّهُ بِيَدِهِ وَنَفَخَ فِيكَ مِنْ رُوحِهِ وَأَغْوَيْتَ النَّاسَ وَأَخْرَجْتَهُمْ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ فَقَالَ آدَمُ أَنْتَ مُوسَى الَّذِي اصْطَفَاكَ اللَّهُ بِكَلَامِهِ تَلُومُنِي عَلَى عَمَلٍ عَمِلْتُهُ كَتَبَهُ اللَّهُ عَلَيَّ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَخْلُقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ؟ قَالَ فَحَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى»

Adam and Moses held a disputation. Moses said : Adam you are our father. You deprived us and caused us to come out from Paradise. Adam said : You are Moses Allah chose you for his speech and wrote the Torah for you with his hand. Do you blame me for doing a deed which Allah had decreed that I should do forty year before he created me? So Adam got the better of Moses in argument. Ahmad b. Salih said from 'Amr from Tawus who heard Abu Hurairah. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4701)

النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ «احْتَجَّ آدَمُ وَمُوسَى فَقَالَ مُوسَى يَا آدَمُ أَنْتَ أَبُونَا خَيَّبْتَنَا وَأَخْرَجْتَنَا مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ فَقَالَ لَهُ آدَمُ يَا مُوسَى اصْطَفَاكَ اللَّهُ بِكَلَامِهِ وَخَطَّ لَكَ بِيَدِهِ تَلُومُنِي عَلَى أَمْرٍ قَدْ قُدِّرَ عَلَيَّ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَخْلُقَنِي بَأَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً؟ قَالَ فَحَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى فَحَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى فَحَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى»

There was argument between Adam and Moses, and Adam came the better of Moses. Moses said to him: You are the same Adam who misled people, and caused them to get out of Paradise. Adam said: You are the same (Moses) whom Allah endowed the knowledge of everything and selected him amongst the people as His Messenger. He said: Yes. Adam then again said: Even then you blame me for an affair which had been ordained for me before I was created. (Using translation from Muslim 2652b)

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ «تَحَاجَّ آدَمُ وَمُوسَى فَحَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى فَقَالَ مُوسَى أَنْتَ آدَمُ الَّذِي أَغْوَيْتَ النَّاسَ وَأَخْرَجْتَهُمْ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ فَقَالَ لَهُ آدَمُ أَنْتَ مُوسَى الَّذِي أَعْطَاهُ اللَّهُ عَلِمَ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ وَاصْطَفَاهُ عَلَى النَّاسِ بِرِسَالَاتِهِ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ فَتَلُومُنِي عَلَى أَمْرٍ قُدِّرَ عَلَيَّ قَبْلَ أَنْ أُخْلَقَ؟ »

عَن النَّبِيّ ﷺ قال احتج آدم وموسى فقال موسى أنت آدم الذي أخرجت ذريتك من الجنة فقال له آدم أنت موسى الذي اصطفاك الله برسالاته وبكلامه فتلومني على أمر قد قدر علي قبل أن أخلق قال فحج آدم موسى وهذا الحديث قد رُوِيَ عَن الزُّهْرِيّ من طرق واختلف على الزُّهْرِيّ في رواية هذا الحديث فرواه مَعْمَر عَن الزُّهْرِيّ عَن أبي سَلَمَة ورواه سَعِيد بن الْمُسَيَّب عَن أبي هُرَيرة ورواه إبراهيم بن سَعْد وشعيب عَن الزُّهْرِيّ عن حميد ورواه عُمَر بن سَعِيد عَن الزُّهْرِيّ عن الأَعرَج

قَالَ قَالَ رَسُول اللهِ ﷺ لقي موسى آدم صلى الله عليهما فقال أنت آدم الذي أخرجت الناس من الجنة فقال له آدم أنت موسى الذي اصطفاك الله برسالته وبكلامه فكيف تلومني على عمل كتبه الله علي قبل أن يخلقني قَالَ رَسُول اللهِ ﷺ فحج آدم موسى

قَالَ قَالَ رَسُول اللهِ ﷺ احتج آدم وموسى عليهما السلام فقال موسى لآدم أنت الذي خلقك الله بيده ونفخ فيك من روحه وأمر الملائكة فسجدوا لك أخرجتنا أو أخرجت ذريتك من الجنة قال فقال آدم أنت موسى الذي اصطفاك الله برسالاته وكلامه أَحسَبُهُ قال وأنزل عليك التوراة فهل تجد ذلك مكتوبا علي قبل أن أخلق قال نعم قال فحج آدم موسى هذا اللفظ لهذا الحديث أو قريبا منه إن شاء الله ولا نعلم روى هذا الحديث عَن الزُّهْرِيّ عَن الأَعرَج إلاَّ عُمَر بن سَعِيد وقد رَواه الزُّهْرِيّ عَن سَعِيد بن الْمُسَيَّب وعَن أبي سَلَمَة وعَن حُمَيد بن عَبد الرحمن عَن أبي هُرَيرة

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قال احتج آدم وموسى عليهما السلام فقال موسى يا آدم خلقك الله بيده ونفخ فيك من روحه وأمر الملائكة فسجدوا لك ثُمَّ أمرك أن تسكن الجنة فتأكل حيث شئت رغدا ونهاك عن شجرة واحدة فعصيت ربك فأكلت منها فقال يا موسى ألم تعلم أنه قدر ذلك علي قبل أن يخلقني قال فحج آدم موسى

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أنه قال احتج آدم وموسى فقال موسى لآدم أنت آدم الذي خلقك الله بيده فيك من روحه أخرجتنا أو أخرجت ذريتك من الجنة قال فحج آدم موسى وذكر الحديث

قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ احتج آدم وموسى فقال موسى أنت آدم الذي خلقك الله بيديه ونفخ فيك من روحه أخرجتنا من الجنة أو أخرجت ذريتك قال آدم وأنت موسى الذي اصطفاك الله برسالاته وبكلامه فهل تجد ذلك علي مكتوبا قبل أن أخلق قال نعم قال فحج آدم موسى

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قال احتج آدم وموسى صلى الله عليهما فقال موسى لآدم أخرجت الناس أو أخرجت ولدك من الجنة قال فقلال آدم صلى الله عليه أنت موسى الذي اصطافك الله برسالاته وبكلامه فهل تجد ذلك مكتوبا علي أحسبه قال قبل أن أخلق قال بلى قال فحج آدم موسى هذا لفظه أو قريب منه قال عكرمة بن عمار وحَدَّثَنِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ أبيه عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ؓ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ بنحوه يزيد بن الأصم عنه

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قال لقي آدم موسى عليهما السلام فقال أنت آدم الذي خلقك الله بيده وأسكنك جنته وأسجد لك ملائكته ونفخ فيك من روحه ثم فعلت ما فعلت وأخرجت ذريتك من الجنة فقال آدم أنت موسى الذي اصفاك الله برسالاته وكلمك وآتاك التوراة وقربك نجيا قال نعم قال فأنا أقدم أم الذكر قال الذكر قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فحج آدم موسى فحج آدم موسى وهذا الحديثُ لاَ نَعْلَمُ رَوَاهُ عن عمار إلا حمَّاد بن سَلَمة وعمار رجل من أهل البصرة مشهور حدث عنه يونس بن عبيد وخالد الحذاء وعلي بن زيد وحمَّاد بن سَلَمة وغيرهم

عَنِ النَّبِي ﷺ قال احتج آدم وموسى فقال موسى يا آدم أنت الذي خلقك الله بيده وأسكنك جنته وأسجد لك ملائكته وأنت أخرجت الناس من الجنة وأشقيتهم فقال آدم أنت موسى الذي اصفااك الله بكلامه ورسالاته وأنزل عليك التوراة فهل تجد في التوراة أنه كتب علي قبل أن يخلقني قال نعم قال فحج آدم موسى وَهَذَا الحديثُ لاَ نَعْلَمُ رَوَاهُ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عن ابن سيرين عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ؓ إلا حمَّاد بن سَلَمة وعاصم بن هلال

عَنِ النَّبِي ﷺ قال اختصم آدم وموسى فقال له موسى أنت آدم الذي أشقيت الناس وأخرجتهم من الجنة فقال آدم أنت موسى الذي اصفاك الله برسالاته وبكلماته وأنزل عليك التوراة قال نعم قال فوجدته قضى ذلك علي قبل أن يخلقني قال نعم قال فحج آدم موسى فحج آدم موسى ثلاثا واللفظ لفظ مَنْصُور بن عكرمة وهذا الحديث لاَ نَعْلَم أسنده عن ابن عون إلا يحيى بن خليفة ومَنْصُور بن عكرمة

عَنِ النَّبِي ﷺ قَالَ اختصم آدم وموسى فقال له موسى أنت آدم الذي أشقيت الناس وأخرجتهم من الجنة فقال له آدم أنت موسى الذي اصطفاك الله برسالاته وبكلامه وأنزل عليك التوراة قال نعم فوجدته قضى ذلك علي قبل أن يخلقني قال نعم فحج آدم موسى عليهما السلام

[AI] Narrated by the Prophet ﷺ, he said that Adam met Moses and Moses said to him, "You are Adam whom Allah created with His own hands and made you dwell in His Paradise and caused His angels to prostrate before you. Then you disobeyed Him and caused your offspring to be outcast from Paradise." Adam replied, "You are Moses whom Allah chose for His Message and whom He spoke to directly. He brought you near Him as a confidential servant. Yes, you are the one.” Moses asked, "Do you think that you have precedence over me?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "So, Adam overcame Moses in argument”

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ لَقِيَ آدَمُ مُوسَى صَلَّى الله عَلَيْهِمَا فَقَالَ مُوسَى أَنْتَ آدَمُ الَّذِي خَلَقَكَ اللهُ بِيَدِهِ وَأَسْكَنَكَ جَنَّتَهُ وَأَسْجَدَ لَكَ مَلَائِكَتَهُ ثُمَّ فَعَلْتَ مَا فَعَلْتَ فَأَخْرَجْتَ ذُرِّيَّتَكَ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ؟ قَالَ آدَمُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ أَنْتَ مُوسَى الَّذِي اصْطَفَاكَ اللهُ بِرِسَالَتِهِ وَكَلَّمَكَ وَقَرَّبَكَ نَجِيًّا؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ فَأَنَا أَقْدَمُ أَمِ الذِّكْرُ؟ قَالَ بَلِ الذِّكْرُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «فَحَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى فَحَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى فَحَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Adam and Moses debated, and Moses said to him, 'O Adam, Allah created you with His own hand and then breathed into you from His soul and said to you, 'Be,' and you were. Then He commanded the angels, and they prostrated to you. Then He said, 'Reside in Paradise, you and your spouse, and eat from it freely wherever you will, but do not approach this tree, lest you be from the wrongdoers.' [2:35] But you disobeyed your Lord and ate from the forbidden tree.' Adam said, 'O Moses, didn't you know that Allah had decreed this upon me before He created me?' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Indeed, Adam argued with Moses three times.'"

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ احْتَجَّ آدَمُ وَمُوسَى عَلَيْهِمَا السَّلَامُ فَقَالَ لَهُ مُوسَى يَا آدَمُ خَلَقَكَ اللهُ بِيَدِهِ ثُمَّ نَفَخَ فِيكَ مِنْ رُوحِهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ لَكَ كُنْ فَكُنْتَ ثُمَّ أَمَرَ الْمَلَائِكَةَ فَسَجَدُوا لَكَ ثُمَّ قَالَ {اسْكُنْ أَنْتَ وَزَوْجُكَ الْجَنَّةَ وَكُلَا مِنْهَا رَغَدًا حَيْثُ شِئْتُمَا وَلَا تَقْرَبَا هَذِهِ الشَّجَرَةَ فَتَكُونَا مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ} [البقرة 35] فَنَهَاكَ عَنْ شَجَرَةٍ وَاحِدَةٍ فَعَصَيْتَ رَبَّكَ فَقَالَ آدَمُ يَا مُوسَى أَلَمْ تَعْلَمْ أَنَّ اللهَ قَدَّرَ هَذَا عَلَيَّ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَخْلُقَنِي؟ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَقَدْ حَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى لَقَدْ حَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى لَقَدْ حَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Adam and Musa (peace be upon them) disputed, and Musa said to Adam, "O Adam, Allah created you with His own hand and breathed into you from His soul, then He said to you, 'Be,' and you became. Then He commanded the angels to prostrate before you, and they prostrated. Then He said to you and your wife, 'Dwell in Paradise and eat from it wherever you please, but do not approach this tree, lest you become of the wrongdoers.' So did you disobey your Lord by approaching this tree?" Adam ﷺ replied, "O Musa, did you not know that Allah, the Most High, had predestined this for me before He created me?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, Adam argued with Musa, indeed Adam argued with Musa, indeed Adam argued with Musa."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ احْتَجَّ آدَمُ وَمُوسَى عَلَيْهِمَا السَّلَامُ فَقَالَ لَهُ مُوسَى يَا آدَمُ خَلَقَكَ اللهُ بِيَدِهِ وَنَفَخَ فِيكَ مِنْ رُوحِهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ لَكَ كُنْ فَكُنْتَ ثُمَّ أَمَرَ الْمَلَائِكَةَ فَسَجَدُوا لَكَ ثُمَّ قَالَ اسْكُنْ أَنْتَ وَزَوْجُكَ الْجَنَّةَ فَكُلَا مِنْهَا حَيْثُ شِئْتُمْ رَغَدًا وَلَا تَقْرَبَا هَذِهِ الشَّجَرَةَ فَتَكُونَا مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ فَنَهَاكَ عَنْ شَجَرَةٍ وَاحِدَةٍ فَعَصَيْتَ رَبَّكَ؟ فَقَالَ آدَمُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ يَا مُوسَى أَلَمْ تَعْلَمْ أَنَّ اللهَ تَعَالَى قَدَّرَ عَلَيَّ هَذَا قَبْلَ أَنْ يَخْلُقَنِي؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَقَدْ حَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى لَقَدْ حَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى لَقَدْ حَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى»

[AI] Narrated by the Prophet (PBUH), he said: Moses met Adam, peace be upon them both, and asked him, "Are you Adam, the father of mankind who caused their misery and expelled them?" Adam replied, "Yes." Moses then asked, "Are you Moses, the one chosen by Allah with His message and His word?" Adam said, "Yes." Moses said, "Don't you find in what Allah revealed to you that He will remove me from it before He admits me to it?" Adam replied, "Yes." So, Adam rebutted Moses.

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ لَقِيَ مُوسَى آدَمَ عَلَيْهِمَا السَّلَامُ فَقَالَ أَنْتَ آدَمُ أَبُو الْبَشَرِ الَّذِي أَشْقَيْتَ النَّاسَ وَأَخْرَجْتَهُمْ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ أَلَسْتَ مُوسَى الَّذِي اصْطَفَاكَ اللهُ بِرِسَالَتِهِ وَكَلَامِهِ؟ قَالَ بَلَى قَالَ أَفَلَيْسَ تَجِدُ فِي مَا أَنْزَلَ اللهُ عَلَيْكَ أَنَّهُ سَيُخْرِجُنِي مِنْهَا قَبْلَ أَنْ يُدْخِلَنِيهَا؟ قَالَ بَلَى فَخَصَمَ آدَمُ مُوسَى

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Moses said to Adam, 'You are the one who caused the people to be disappointed and expelled them from Paradise?' Adam replied, 'You are the one whom Allah chose and wrote the Torah for with His own hand. Do you blame me for something that Allah had decreed upon me forty years before He created me?'"

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ مُوسَى لِآدَمَ أَنْتَ الَّذِي خَيَّبْتَ النَّاسَ وَأَخْرَجْتَهُمْ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ؟ فَقَالَ آدَمُ أَنْتَ الَّذِي اصْطَفَاكَ اللهُ وَكَتَبَ لَكَ بِيَدِهِ التَّوْرَاةَ أَتَلُومُنِي عَلَى أَمْرٍ قَدْ قَدَرَهُ اللهُ عَلَيَّ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَخْلُقَنِي بِأَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً؟

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ said: Adam met Moses and Moses said to him, "You are the one whom Allah created with His own hands, and He made His angels prostrate to you, and He made you dwell in His Paradise and He taught you the names of all things. Then Allah showed Adam to Moses and said, "O Moses! Do you know anyone more knowledgeable than you?" Moses replied, "No." So, Allah said, "O Moses! Adam has more knowledge than you." Then Adam met Moses and repeated the same question and Adam answered, "No." Allah said, "O Adam! Moses has more knowledge than you."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ لَقِيَ آدَمُ مُوسَى فَقَالَ مُوسَى يَا آدَمُ أَنْتَ الَّذِي خَلَقَكَ اللهُ بِيَدِهِ وَأَسْجَدَ لَكَ مَلَائِكَتَهُ وَأَسْكَنَكَ جَنَّتَهُ وَنَفَخَ فِيكَ مِنْ رُوحِهِ قَالَ آدَمُ يَا مُوسَى أَنْتَ الَّذِي اصْطَفَاكَ اللهُ بِرِسَالَاتِهِ وَآتَاكَ التَّوْرَاةَ وَكَلَّمَكَ وَقَرَّبَكَ نَجِيًّا فَأَنَا أَقْدَمُ أَمِ الذِّكْرُ؟ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «فَحَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى فَحَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى»

Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Adam and Moses argued with each other. Moses said to Adam. 'You are Adam whose mistake expelled you from Paradise.' Adam said to him, 'You are Moses whom Allah selected as His Messenger and as the one to whom He spoke directly; yet you blame me for a thing which had already been written in my fate before my creation?"' Messenger of Allah ﷺ said twice, "So, Adam overpowered Moses." (Using translation from Bukhārī 3409)

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ حَاجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى فَقَالَ لَهُ يَا آدَمُ أَنْتَ الَّذِي أَخْرَجْتَ النَّاسَ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ وَأَشْقَيْتَهُمْ قَالَ آدَمُ يَا مُوسَى أَنْتَ الَّذِي اصْطَفَاكَ اللهُ بِرِسَالَتِهِ وَبِكَلَامِهِ أَتَلُومُنِي عَلَى أَمْرٍ كَتَبَهُ اللهُ عَلَيَّ أَوْ قَدَّرَهُ عَلَيَّ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَخْلُقَنِي؟ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «فَحَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى»

"Adam and Musa argued, Musa said: "O Adam! You are the one that Allah created with His Hand, and blew into you of His Spirit, and you misled the people and caused them to be expelled from Paradise.' So Adam said: 'You are Musa, the one Allah selected with His Speech! Are you blaming me for something I did which Allah had decreed for me, before creating the heavens and the earth?'" He said: " So Adam confuted Musa." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 2134)

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ احْتَجَّ آدَمُ وَمُوسَى فَقَالَ يَا آدَمُ أَنْتَ الَّذِي خَلَقَكَ اللهُ بِيَدِهِ وَنَفَخَ فِيكَ مِنْ رُوحِهِ أَغْوَيْتَ النَّاسَ وَأَخْرَجْتَهُمْ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ فَقَالَ آدَمُ وَأَنْتَ مُوسَى الَّذِي اصْطَفَاكَ اللهُ بِكَلَامِهِ تَلُومُنِي عَلَى عَمَلٍ عَمِلْتُهُ كَتَبَهُ اللهُ عَلَيَّ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَخْلُقَ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ؟ قَالَ «فَحَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى»

"Adam and Musa argued, Musa said: "O Adam! You are the one that Allah created with His Hand, and blew into you of His Spirit, and you misled the people and caused them to be expelled from Paradise.' "احتج آدم وموسى، فقال موسى: أنتَ آدمُ الذى خلقك الله بِيَدهِ، ونفخ فيكَ من رُوحِه، وَأَسْجَدَ لَكَ مَلَائِكتَه، وأَسَكَنَكَ جَنتهَ، أخرجت الناس من الجنة بذنبك، وَأَشْقَيْتُهُم. قال آدم: يا موسى أنت الذى اصطفاك الله برسلاته وكلامه، وأنزل عليك التوراة، أتلومنى على أمر كَتَبَه اللهُ عليَّ قَبْلَ أن يَخْلُقَنِي؟ فحج آدمُ موسى".

"لَقِيَ آدَمُ مُوسَى فَقَال مُوسَى: أَنْت آدَمُ الَّدى خلقك اللهُ بِيَدِهِ، وَأَسْكَنَكَ جَنَّتَهُ، واسْجدَ لَكَ مَلائِكَتَهُ، ثمَّ فَعَلتَ مَا فعَلَتَ، فَأخْرَجْتَ ذُرِّيَّتكَ مِنَ الْجَنَّة؟ ، قال آدَمُ: أنت مُوسَى الَّذي اصْطَفَاكَ اللهُ بِرِسَالاتِه، وَكلَّمَكَ وَقرَّبكَ نجِيًا؟ ، قال: نَعَمْ، قال: فأَنا أَقَدَمُ أَم الذِّكْرُ؟ ، قال: بَلْ الذِّكْرُ، فَحَجَّ آدَمُ موسَى، فَحَجَّ آدَم موسَى، فَحَجَّ آدَمُ موسَى".

"عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ الله ﷺ: التَقَى آدَمُ وَمُوسَى، فَقَالَ لَهُ مُوسَى: أَنْتَ آدَمُ الَّذِى خَلَقَكَ الله بيَدِهِ، وَأسْجَدَ لَكَ مَلاَئِكَتَهُ، وَأَدْخَلَكَ جَنَّتَهُ، ثُمَّ أَخْرَجتَنَا مِنْهَا، فَقَالَ لَهُ آدَمُ: أنْتَ مُوسَى الَّذِى اصْطَفَاكَ الله بِرِسَالَتِهِ، وَقَرَّبَكَ نَجِيًّا، وَأنْزَلَ عَلَيْكَ التَّوْرَاةَ، فَأَسْألُكَ بِالَّذِى أَعْطَاكَ ذَلِكَ بِكَمْ تَجِدُه كُتِبَ عَلَيَّ قَبْلَ أَنْ أخْلَقَ، قَالَ: أَجِدُهُ كَتَبَ عَلَيْكَ فِى التَّوْرَاةِ بِأَلفَىْ عَام، قَالَ رَسُولُ الله ﷺ فَحَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى، فَحَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى فَحَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى".

"عَنْ أَبِى هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ الله ﷺ يَقُولُ: تَحَاجَّ آدَمُ وَمُوسَى فَقَالَ آدَمُ لِمُوسَى: أَنْتَ مُوسَى الَّذِى اصْطَفَاكَ الله -تَعَالَى- عَلَى خَلْقِهِ، وبعث برسالة (*)، ثُمَّ صَنَعْتَ الّذِى صَنَعْتَ -يَعْنِى النَّقسَ الَّتى قَتَلَ، فَقَالَ مُوسَى لآدَمَ: وَأَنْتَ الذَّى خَلَقَكَ الله -تَعَالَى- بِيَدِهِ، وَأَسْجَدَ لَكَ مَلَائِكَتهُ وأَسْكَنَكَ جَنَّتَهُ، ثُمَ فَعَلْتَ الذَّى فَعَلتَ، فَلَوْلَا مَا فَعَلْتَ لَدَخَلَتْ ذرِّيَّتكَ الجَنَّةَ، فَقَالَ آدَمُ لِموُسَى: أَتَلُومُنِى في ذَنْبٍ قَدْ قُدِّرَ عَلَىَّ قَبْلَ أَنْ أُخْلَقَ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ الله ﷺ فَحَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى ثَلَاثًا".
