Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Adam and Moses argued with each other. Moses said to Adam. 'You are Adam whose mistake expelled you from Paradise.' Adam said to him, 'You are Moses whom Allah selected as His Messenger and as the one to whom He spoke directly; yet you blame me for a thing which had already been written in my fate before my creation?"' Messenger of Allah ﷺ said twice, "So, Adam overpowered Moses."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ احْتَجَّ آدَمُ وَمُوسَى فَقَالَ لَهُ مُوسَى أَنْتَ آدَمُ الَّذِي أَخْرَجَتْكَ خَطِيئَتُكَ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ فَقَالَ لَهُ آدَمُ أَنْتَ مُوسَى الَّذِي اصْطَفَاكَ اللَّهُ بِرِسَالاَتِهِ وَبِكَلاَمِهِ ثُمَّ تَلُومُنِي عَلَى أَمْرٍ قُدِّرَ عَلَىَّ قَبْلَ أَنْ أُخْلَقَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَحَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى مَرَّتَيْنِ

Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Adam and Moses met, and Moses said to Adam "You are the one who made people miserable and turned them out of Paradise." Adam said to him, "You are the one whom Allah selected for His message and whom He selected for Himself and upon whom He revealed the Torah." Moses said, 'Yes.' Adam said, "Did you find that written in my fate before my creation?' Moses said, 'Yes.' So Adam overcame Moses with this argument."

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ الْتَقَى آدَمُ وَمُوسَى فَقَالَ مُوسَى لآدَمَ أَنْتَ الَّذِي أَشْقَيْتَ النَّاسَ وَأَخْرَجْتَهُمْ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ قَالَ لَهُ آدَمُ أَنْتَ الَّذِي اصْطَفَاكَ اللَّهُ بِرِسَالَتِهِ وَاصْطَفَاكَ لِنَفْسِهِ وَأَنْزَلَ عَلَيْكَ التَّوْرَاةَ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ فَوَجَدْتَهَا كُتِبَ عَلَىَّ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَخْلُقَنِي قَالَ نَعَمْ فَحَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى الْيَمُّ الْبَحْرُ

The Prophet ﷺ said, "Moses argued with Adam and said to him (Adam), 'You are the one who got the people out of Paradise by your sin, and thus made them miserable." Adam replied, 'O Moses! You are the one whom Allah selected for His Message and for His direct talk. Yet you blame me for a thing which Allah had ordained for me before He created me?." Messenger of Allah ﷺ further said, "So Adam overcame Moses by this Argument."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ حَاجَّ مُوسَى آدَمَ فَقَالَ لَهُ أَنْتَ الَّذِي أَخْرَجْتَ النَّاسَ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ بِذَنْبِكَ وَأَشْقَيْتَهُمْ قَالَ قَالَ آدَمُ يَا مُوسَى أَنْتَ الَّذِي اصْطَفَاكَ اللَّهُ بِرِسَالَتِهِ وَبِكَلاَمِهِ أَتَلُومُنِي عَلَى أَمْرٍ كَتَبَهُ اللَّهُ عَلَىَّ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَخْلُقَنِي أَوْ قَدَّرَهُ عَلَىَّ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَخْلُقَنِي قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَحَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى

The Prophet ﷺ said, "Adam and Moses debated with each other and Moses said, 'You are Adam who turned out your offspring from Paradise.' Adam said, "You are Moses whom Allah chose for His Message and for His direct talk, yet you blame me for a matter which had been ordained for me even before my creation?' Thus Adam overcame Moses."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ احْتَجَّ آدَمُ وَمُوسَى فَقَالَ مُوسَى أَنْتَ آدَمُ الَّذِي أَخْرَجْتَ ذُرِّيَّتَكَ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ قَالَ آدَمُ أَنْتَ مُوسَى الَّذِي اصْطَفَاكَ اللَّهُ بِرِسَالاَتِهِ وَكَلاَمِهِ ثُمَّ تَلُومُنِي عَلَى أَمْرٍ قَدْ قُدِّرَ عَلَىَّ قَبْلَ أَنْ أُخْلَقَ فَحَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى

There was argument between Adam and Moses, and Adam came the better of Moses. Moses said to him: You are the same Adam who misled people, and caused them to get out of Paradise. Adam said: You are the same (Moses) whom Allah endowed the knowledge of everything and selected him amongst the people as His Messenger. He said: Yes. Adam then again said: Even then you blame me for an affair which had been ordained for me before I was created.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ تَحَاجَّ آدَمُ وَمُوسَى فَحَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى فَقَالَ لَهُ مُوسَى أَنْتَ آدَمُ الَّذِي أَغْوَيْتَ النَّاسَ وَأَخْرَجْتَهُمْ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ فَقَالَ آدَمُ أَنْتَ الَّذِي أَعْطَاهُ اللَّهُ عِلْمَ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ وَاصْطَفَاهُ عَلَى النَّاسِ بِرِسَالَتِهِ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ فَتَلُومُنِي عَلَى أَمْرٍ قُدِّرَ عَلَىَّ قَبْلَ أَنْ أُخْلَقَ

There was an argument between Adam and Moses. Moses said: Are you that Adam whose lapse caused you to get out of Paradise? Adam said to him: Are you that Moses whom Allah selected for His Messengership, for His conversation and you blame me for an affair which had been ordained for me before I was created? This is how Adam came the better of Moses.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ احْتَجَّ آدَمُ وَمُوسَى فَقَالَ لَهُ مُوسَى أَنْتَ آدَمُ الَّذِي أَخْرَجَتْكَ خَطِيئَتُكَ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ فَقَالَ لَهُ آدَمُ أَنْتَ مُوسَى الَّذِي اصْطَفَاكَ اللَّهُ بِرِسَالَتِهِ وَبِكَلاَمِهِ ثُمَّ تَلُومُنِي عَلَى أَمْرٍ قَدْ قُدِّرَ عَلَىَّ قَبْلَ أَنْ أُخْلَقَ فَحَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى

"Adam and Musa argued, Musa said: "O Adam! You are the one that Allah created with His Hand, and blew into you of His Spirit, and you misled the people and caused them to be expelled from Paradise.' So Adam said: 'You are Musa, the one Allah selected with His Speech! Are you blaming me for something I did which Allah had decreed for me, before creating the heavens and the earth?'" He said: " So Adam confuted Musa."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ احْتَجَّ آدَمُ وَمُوسَى فَقَالَ مُوسَى يَا آدَمُ أَنْتَ الَّذِي خَلَقَكَ اللَّهُ بِيَدِهِ وَنَفَخَ فِيكَ مِنْ رُوحِهِ أَغْوَيْتَ النَّاسَ وَأَخْرَجْتَهُمْ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ قَالَ فَقَالَ آدَمُ وَأَنْتَ مُوسَى الَّذِي اصْطَفَاكَ اللَّهُ بِكَلاَمِهِ أَتَلُومُنِي عَلَى عَمَلٍ عَمِلْتُهُ كَتَبَهُ اللَّهُ عَلَىَّ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَخْلُقَ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالأَرْضَ قَالَ فَحَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى

Yahya related to me from Malik from Abu'z-Zinad from al-Araj from Abu Hurayra that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Adam and Musa argued and Adam got the better of Musa. Musa rebuked Adam, 'You are Adam who led people astray and brought them out of the Garden.' Adam said to him, 'You are Musa to whom Allah gave knowledge of everything and whom he chose above people with His message.' He said, 'Yes.' He said, 'Do you then censure me for a matter which was decreed for me before I was created?' "

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ تَحَاجَّ آدَمُ وَمُوسَى فَحَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى قَالَ لَهُ مُوسَى أَنْتَ آدَمُ الَّذِي أَغْوَيْتَ النَّاسَ وَأَخْرَجْتَهُمْ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ فَقَالَ لَهُ آدَمُ أَنْتَ مُوسَى الَّذِي أَعْطَاهُ اللَّهُ عِلْمَ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ وَاصْطَفَاهُ عَلَى النَّاسِ بِرِسَالَتِهِ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ أَفَتَلُومُنِي عَلَى أَمْرٍ قَدْ قُدِّرَ عَلَىَّ قَبْلَ أَنْ أُخْلَقَ

"I heard Abu Hurairah narrating that the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Adam and Musa debated, and Musa said to him: "O Adam, you are our father but have deprived us and caused us to be expelled from Paradise because of your sin." Adam said to him: "O Musa, Allah chose you to speak with, and he wrote the Tawrah for you with His own Hand. Are you blaming me for something which Allah decreed for me forty years before He created me?" Thus Adam won the argument with Musa, thus Adam won the argument with Musa.'" قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ احْتَجَّ آدَمُ وَمُوسَى عَلَيْهِمَا السَّلَامُ فَقَالَ مُوسَى يَا آدَمُ أَنْتَ أَبُونَا خَيَّبْتَنَا وَأَخْرَجْتَنَا مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ فَقَالَ لَهُ آدَمُ يَا مُوسَى أَنْتَ اصْطَفَاكَ اللهُ بِكَلَامِهِ وَقَالَ مَرَّةً بِرِسَالَتِهِ وَخَطَّ لَكَ بِيَدِهِ أَتَلُومُنِي عَلَى أَمْرٍ قَدَّرَهُ اللهُ عَلَيَّ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَخْلُقَنِي بِأَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً؟ قَالَ حَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى حَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى حَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Adam replied to Musa: 'O Adam, it is you who expelled people from Paradise with your sin and caused their misery?' Adam said to him: 'O Musa, it is you whom Allah has chosen among people with His messages and words, so why do you blame me for something that Allah had written for me or destined upon me before He created me?' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then said: 'Thus, Adam debated with Musa.'"

"Adam and Musa argued, Musa said: "O Adam! You are the one that Allah created with His Hand, and blew into you of His Spirit, and you misled the people and caused them to be expelled from Paradise.' So Adam said: 'You are Musa, the one Allah selected with His Speech! Are you blaming me for something I did which Allah had decreed for me, before creating the heavens and the earth?'" [Machine] Adam and Moses, peace be upon them, disputed with each other. So, Adam argued against Moses and said, "You are Moses, the one whom Allah has chosen with His messages and His words, and He revealed the Torah to you. Don't you find in it that Allah had predestined my actions before He created me?" Moses replied, "Yes, indeed." Humaid bin Abdul Rahman al-Humairi reported that Adam debated with Moses. Muhammad said, "The first part of the conversation is sufficient for me." So, Adam and Moses, peace be upon them, disputed with each other.

اخْتَصَمَ آدَمُ وَمُوسَى عَلَيْهِمَا السَّلَامُ فَخَصَمَ آدَمُ مُوسَى فَقَالَ مُوسَى أَنْتَ آدَمُ الَّذِي أَشْقَيْتَ النَّاسَ وَأَخْرَجْتَهُمْ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ فَقَالَ آدَمُ أَنْتَ مُوسَى الَّذِي اصْطَفَاكَ اللهُ بِرِسَالَاتِهِ وَبِكَلَامِهِ وَأَنْزَلَ عَلَيْكَ التَّوْرَاةَ أَلَيْسَ تَجِدُ فِيهَا أَنْ قَدْ قَدَّرَهُ اللهُ عَلَيَّ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَخْلُقَنِي؟ قَالَ بَلَى قَالَ عَمْرُو بْنُ سَعِيدٍ فَقَالَ حُمَيْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْحِمْيَرِيُّ فَحَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ يَكْفِينِي أَوَّلُ الْحَدِيثِ فَخَصَمَ آدَمُ مُوسَى عَلَيْهِمَا السَّلَامُ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ «تَحَاجَّ آدَمُ وَمُوسَى فَحَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى فَقَالَ مُوسَى أَنْتَ آدَمُ الَّذِي أَغْوَيْتَ النَّاسَ وَأَخْرَجْتَهُمْ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ فَقَالَ لَهُ آدَمُ أَنْتَ مُوسَى الَّذِي أَعْطَاهُ اللَّهُ عَلِمَ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ وَاصْطَفَاهُ عَلَى النَّاسِ بِرِسَالَاتِهِ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ فَتَلُومُنِي عَلَى أَمْرٍ قُدِّرَ عَلَيَّ قَبْلَ أَنْ أُخْلَقَ؟ »

[Machine] Narrated by the Prophet ﷺ, he said that Adam met Moses and Moses said to him, "You are Adam whom Allah created with His own hands and made you dwell in His Paradise and caused His angels to prostrate before you. Then you disobeyed Him and caused your offspring to be outcast from Paradise." Adam replied, "You are Moses whom Allah chose for His Message and whom He spoke to directly. He brought you near Him as a confidential servant. Yes, you are the one.” Moses asked, "Do you think that you have precedence over me?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "So, Adam overcame Moses in argument”

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ لَقِيَ آدَمُ مُوسَى صَلَّى الله عَلَيْهِمَا فَقَالَ مُوسَى أَنْتَ آدَمُ الَّذِي خَلَقَكَ اللهُ بِيَدِهِ وَأَسْكَنَكَ جَنَّتَهُ وَأَسْجَدَ لَكَ مَلَائِكَتَهُ ثُمَّ فَعَلْتَ مَا فَعَلْتَ فَأَخْرَجْتَ ذُرِّيَّتَكَ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ؟ قَالَ آدَمُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ أَنْتَ مُوسَى الَّذِي اصْطَفَاكَ اللهُ بِرِسَالَتِهِ وَكَلَّمَكَ وَقَرَّبَكَ نَجِيًّا؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ فَأَنَا أَقْدَمُ أَمِ الذِّكْرُ؟ قَالَ بَلِ الذِّكْرُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «فَحَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى فَحَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى فَحَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى»

"Adam and Musa argued, Musa said: "O Adam! You are the one that Allah created with His Hand, and blew into you of His Spirit, and you misled the people and caused them to be expelled from Paradise.' [Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Moses said to Adam, 'You are the one who caused the people to be disappointed and expelled them from Paradise?' Adam replied, 'You are the one whom Allah chose and wrote the Torah for with His own hand. Do you blame me for something that Allah had decreed upon me forty years before He created me?'"

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ مُوسَى لِآدَمَ أَنْتَ الَّذِي خَيَّبْتَ النَّاسَ وَأَخْرَجْتَهُمْ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ؟ فَقَالَ آدَمُ أَنْتَ الَّذِي اصْطَفَاكَ اللهُ وَكَتَبَ لَكَ بِيَدِهِ التَّوْرَاةَ أَتَلُومُنِي عَلَى أَمْرٍ قَدْ قَدَرَهُ اللهُ عَلَيَّ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَخْلُقَنِي بِأَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً؟

Messenger of Allah ﷺ said twice, "So, Adam overpowered Moses." (Using translation from Bukhārī 3409)

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ حَاجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى فَقَالَ لَهُ يَا آدَمُ أَنْتَ الَّذِي أَخْرَجْتَ النَّاسَ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ وَأَشْقَيْتَهُمْ قَالَ آدَمُ يَا مُوسَى أَنْتَ الَّذِي اصْطَفَاكَ اللهُ بِرِسَالَتِهِ وَبِكَلَامِهِ أَتَلُومُنِي عَلَى أَمْرٍ كَتَبَهُ اللهُ عَلَيَّ أَوْ قَدَّرَهُ عَلَيَّ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَخْلُقَنِي؟ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «فَحَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى»

"Adam and Musa argued, Musa said: "O Adam! You are the one that Allah created with His Hand, and blew into you of His Spirit, and you misled the people and caused them to be expelled from Paradise.' So Adam said: 'You are Musa, the one Allah selected with His Speech! Are you blaming me for something I did which Allah had decreed for me, before creating the heavens and the earth?'" He said: " So Adam confuted Musa." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 2134)

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ احْتَجَّ آدَمُ وَمُوسَى فَقَالَ يَا آدَمُ أَنْتَ الَّذِي خَلَقَكَ اللهُ بِيَدِهِ وَنَفَخَ فِيكَ مِنْ رُوحِهِ أَغْوَيْتَ النَّاسَ وَأَخْرَجْتَهُمْ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ فَقَالَ آدَمُ وَأَنْتَ مُوسَى الَّذِي اصْطَفَاكَ اللهُ بِكَلَامِهِ تَلُومُنِي عَلَى عَمَلٍ عَمِلْتُهُ كَتَبَهُ اللهُ عَلَيَّ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَخْلُقَ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ؟ قَالَ «فَحَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى»

اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ احتج أدم وموسى فقال موسى أنت آدم الذي خلقك الله بيده ونفخ فيك من روحه أخرجتنا من الجنة فقال وأنت موسى الذي اصفاك الله برسالاته وبكلامه فهل تجد ذلك مكتوبا علي قبل أن أخلق قال نعم قال فحج آدم موسى

اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ اختصم آدم وموسى فقال له موسى أنت آدم الذي أشقيت الناس وأخرجتهم من الجنة فقال له آدم أنت موسى الذي اصطفاك الله برسالاته وبكلامه وأنزل عليك التوراة قال نعم فوجدته قضى ذلك علي قبل أن يخلقني قال نعم فحج آدم موسى عليهما السلام

اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ احتج آدم وموسى فقال موسى أنت آدم الذي خلقك الله بيديه ونفخ فيك من روحه أخرجتنا من الجنة أو أخرجت ذريتك قال آدم وأنت موسى الذي اصطفاك الله برسالاته وبكلامه فهل تجد ذلك علي مكتوبا قبل أن أخلق قال نعم قال فحج آدم موسى

احتج آدم وموسى صلى الله عليهما فقال موسى لآدم أخرجت الناس أو أخرجت ولدك من الجنة قال فقلال آدم صلى الله عليه أنت موسى الذي اصطافك الله برسالاته وبكلامه فهل تجد ذلك مكتوبا علي أحسبه قال قبل أن أخلق قال بلى قال فحج آدم موسىهذا لفظه أو قريب منه قال عكرمة بن عمار وحَدَّثَنِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ أبيه عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بنحوه يزيد بن الأصم عنه

"احتج آدم وموسى، فقال موسى: أنتَ آدمُ الذى خلقك الله بِيَدهِ، ونفخ فيكَ من رُوحِه، وَأَسْجَدَ لَكَ مَلَائِكتَه، وأَسَكَنَكَ جَنتهَ، أخرجت الناس من الجنة بذنبك، وَأَشْقَيْتُهُم. قال آدم: يا موسى أنت الذى اصطفاك الله برسلاته وكلامه، وأنزل عليك التوراة، أتلومنى على أمر كَتَبَه اللهُ عليَّ قَبْلَ أن يَخْلُقَنِي؟ فحج آدمُ موسى".
