قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّا نَجِدُ فِي أَنْفُسِنَا شَيْئًا مَا نُحِبُّ أَنْ نَتَكَلَّمَ بِهِ وَإِنَّ لَنَا مَا طَلَعَتْ عَلَيْهِ الشَّمْسُ قَالَ أَوَ قَدْ وَجَدْتُمْ ذَلِكَ؟ قَالُوا نَعَمْ قَالَ ذَاكَ صَرِيحُ الإيمَانِ
Verily we perceive in our minds that which every one of us considers it too grave to express. He (the Holy Prophet) said: Do you really perceive it? They said: Yes. Upon this he remarked: That is the faith manifest.
جَاءَ نَاسٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَسَأَلُوهُ إِنَّا نَجِدُ فِي أَنْفُسِنَا مَا يَتَعَاظَمُ أَحَدُنَا أَنْ يَتَكَلَّمَ بِهِ قَالَ وَقَدْ وَجَدْتُمُوهُ قَالُوا نَعَمْ قَالَ ذَاكَ صَرِيحُ الإِيمَانِ
Have you experienced that? They replied: yes. He said : that is clear faith.
جَاءَهُ نَاسٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ فَقَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ نَجِدُ فِي أَنْفُسِنَا الشَّىْءَ نُعْظِمُ أَنْ نَتَكَلَّمَ بِهِ أَوِ الْكَلاَمَ بِهِ مَا نُحِبُّ أَنَّ لَنَا وَأَنَّا تَكَلَّمْنَا بِهِ قَالَ أَوَقَدْ وَجَدْتُمُوهُ قَالُوا نَعَمْ قَالَ ذَاكَ صَرِيحُ الإِيمَانِ
Satan has no other power over you than an ability to whisper
A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: Messenger of Allah! One of us has thoughts of such nature that he would rather be reduced to charcoal than speak about them. He said: "Allah is Most Great, Allah is Most Great, Allah is Most Great. Praise be to Allah Who has reduced the guile of the devil to evil prompting."
Ibn Qudamah said "reduced his matter" instead of "reduced his guile".
جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، إِنَّ أَحَدَنَا يَجِدُ فِي نَفْسِهِ يُعَرِّضُ بِالشَّىْءِ لأَنْ يَكُونَ حُمَمَةً أَحَبُّ إِلَيْهِ مِنْ أَنْ يَتَكَلَّمَ بِهِ۔ فَقَالَ: «اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ، اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ، اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ، الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي رَدَّ كَيْدَهُ إِلَى الْوَسْوَسَةِ۔»
قَالَ ابْنُ قُدَامَةَ «رَدَّ أَمْرَهُ» مَكَانَ «رَدَّ كَيْدَهُ»۔
[AI] A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, I want to tell myself something, for delaying anything from heaven is dearer to me than speaking it out." So the Prophet ﷺ said, "Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar. Praise be to Allah who has repelled his plotting to whisper."
جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنِّي أُحَدِّثُ نَفْسِي بِالشَّيْءِ لَأَنْ أخِرَّ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ أَنْ أَتَكَلَّمَ بِهِ قَالَ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ اللهُ أَكْبَرُ اللهُ أَكْبَرُ اللهُ أَكْبَرُ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي رَدَّ كَيَدَهُ إِلَى الْوَسْوَسَةِ
[AI] "A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, I prefer to hear directly from the heavens than to speak on my own.' He (the Prophet) said, 'That is a clear sign of faith.'"
جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنِّي أُحَدِّثُ نَفْسِي بِالْحَدِيثِ لَأَنْ أَخِرَّ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ أَنْ أَتَكَلَّمَ بِهِ قَالَ ذَلِكَ صَرِيحُ الْإِيمَانِ
[AI] On the authority of the Prophet, ﷺ , he said, "Indeed, one of you may speak about something he dislikes about himself, while he possesses what is on the earth. That is purely faith."
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُمْ قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ أَحَدَنَا يُحَدِّثُ نَفْسَهُ بِالشَّيْءِ مَا يُحِبُّ أَنَّهُ يَتَكَلَّمُ بِهِ وَإِنَّ لَهُ مَا عَلَى الْأَرْضِ مِنْ شَيْءٍ قَالَ ذَاكَ مَحْضُ الْإِيمَانِ
[AI] They complained to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about the whispers they were experiencing and they said, "O Messenger of Allah, we find something that if one of us were to fall from the sky, it would be dearer to him than speaking about it." So the Prophet ﷺ said, "That is pure faith."
شَكَوْا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ مَا يَجِدُونَ مِنَ الْوَسْوَسَةِ وَقَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّا لَنَجِدُ شَيْئًا لَوْ أَنَّ أَحَدَنَا خَرَّ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ كَانَ أَحَبَّ إِلَيْهِ مِنْ أَنْ يَتَكَلَّمَ بِهِ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ ذَاكَ مَحْضُ الْإِيمَانِ
ذِكْرُ الْإِخْبَارِ عَمَّا وَضَعَ اللَّهُ مِنَ الْحَرَجِ عَنِ الْوَاجِدِ فِي نَفْسِهِ مَا لَا يَحِلُّ لَهُ أَنْ يَنْطِقَ بِهِ
[AI] "A man said, 'O Messenger of Allah, we find within ourselves things that we do not like to speak about, and we have thoughts that the sun rises upon.' The Prophet ﷺ said, 'Have you really found that?' They said, 'Yes.' He said, 'That is clear faith.'"
رَجُلٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّا لَنَجِدُ فِي أَنْفُسِنَا أَشْيَاءَ مَا نُحِبُّ أَنْ نَتَكَلَّمَ بِهَا وَإِنَّ لَنَا مَا طَلَعَتْ عَلَيْهِ الشَّمْسُ فَقَالَ ﷺ «قَدْ وَجَدْتُمْ ذَلِكَ؟ » قَالُوا نَعَمْ قَالَ «ذَاكَ صَرِيحُ الْإِيمَانِ»

[AI] man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, I find something in my heart that I prefer to be silent about rather than speak about it." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest. Praise be to Allah who has diverted His decree to whispering."
أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي لَأَجِدُ فِي صَدْرِيَ الشَّيْءَ لَأَنْ أَكُونَ حُمَمَةً أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ أَنْ أَتَكَلَّمَ بِهِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي رَدَّ أَمْرَهُ إِلَى الْوَسْوَسَةِ»
عَن النَّبِيّ ﷺ أن أصحابه قالوا إنا نجد في أنفسنا ما لا نحب أن نتكلم به وأن لنا ما طلعت عليه الشمس فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أوجدتم هذا؟ قالوا نعم قال ذاك صريح الإيمان
[AI] "O Messenger of Allah, I do speak to myself about a matter from the commands of the Lord, because I prefer to keep it to myself rather than speak it out loud." Shu'bah said, "One of them said, 'Praise be to Allah, Who only enabled you to experience whispers,' and the other said, 'Praise be to Allah, Who returned His command to whispers.'"
يَا رَسُولِ اللهِ إِنِّي لَأُحَدِّثُ نَفْسِي بِالشَّيْءِ مِنْ أَمْرِ الرَّبِّ لَأَنْ أَكُونَ حُمَمَةً أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ أَنْ أَتَكَلَّمَ بِهِ قَالَ شُعْبَةُ قَالَ أَحَدُهُمَا «الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي لَمْ يَقْدِرْ مِنْكُمْ إِلَّا عَلَى الْوَسْوَسَةِ» وَقَالَ الْآخَرُ «الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي رَدَّ أَمْرَهُ إِلَى الْوَسْوَسَةِ»

يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنِّي لَأَجِدُ فِي نَفْسِي شَيْئًا لَأَنْ أَكُونَ حُمَمَةً أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ أَنْ أَتَكَلَّمَ بِهِ؟ فَقَالَ فِي حَدِيثِ مَنْصُورٍ «اللهُ أَكْبَرُ» وَقَالَا جَمِيعًا «الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي رَدَّ أَمْرَهُ إِلَى الْوَسْوَسَةِ»
