When half of the night or two-third of it is over. Allah, the Blessed and the Exalted, descends to the lowest heaven and says: Is there any beggar, so that he be given? Is there any supplicator so that he be answered? Is there any beggar of forgiveness so that he be forgiven? (And Allah continues it saying) till it is daybreak.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا مَضَى شَطْرُ اللَّيْلِ أَوْ ثُلُثَاهُ يَنْزِلُ اللَّهُ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى إِلَى السَّمَاءِ الدُّنْيَا فَيَقُولُ هَلْ مِنْ سَائِلٍ يُعْطَى هَلْ مِنْ دَاعٍ يُسْتَجَابُ لَهُ هَلْ مِنْ مُسْتَغْفِرٍ يُغْفَرُ لَهُ حَتَّى يَنْفَجِرَ الصُّبْحُ

Allah waits till when one-third of the first part of the night is over; He descends to the lowest heaven and says: It there any supplicator of forgiveness? Is there any penitant? Is there any petitioner (for mercy and favour)? Is there any solicitor? -till it is daybreak.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُمْهِلُ حَتَّى إِذَا ذَهَبَ ثُلُثُ اللَّيْلِ الأَوَّلُ نَزَلَ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ الدُّنْيَا فَيَقُولُ هَلْ مِنْ مُسْتَغْفِرٍ هَلْ مِنْ تَائِبٍ هَلْ مِنْ سَائِلٍ هَلْ مِنْ دَاعٍ حَتَّى يَنْفَجِرَ الْفَجْرُ

I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: Were it not that it would be too difficult for my ummah, I would have commanded them to use the siwak every time of prayer, and I would have delayed Ishaʿ until the first third of the night had passed, because when the first third of the night has passed. Allah may he be exalted descends to the first heaven and stays there until dawn comes, and says: Is there any asking so that he might be given? Is there anyone praying so that he might be answered? Is there any sick person asking for healing so that he might be healed? Is there any sinner asking for forgiveness, so that he might be forgiven? [AI] I bear witness that Abu Hurairah and Abu Sa'id both testified that they heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying: "Verily, Allah grants respite until the third of the night passes, then He descends and says: 'Is there anyone who seeks forgiveness, so that I may forgive him? Is there anyone who seeks provision, so that I may provide for him?'"

أَشْهَدُ عَلَى أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ وَأَبِي سَعِيدٍ أَنَّهُمَا شَهِدَا عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ إِنَّ اللهَ يُمْهِلُ حَتَّى يَذْهَبَ ثُلُثُ اللَّيْلِ ثُمَّ يَهْبِطُ فَيَقُولُ هَلْ مِنْ دَاعٍ فَيُسْتَجَابُ لَهُ؟ هَلْ مِنْ مُسْتَغْفِرٍ فَيُغْفَرُ لَهُ؟

[AI] I bear witness that Abu Hurairah and Abu Sa'eed Al-Khudri both testified that they heard the Prophet ﷺ say, "Indeed, Allah grants respite until the third of the night passes, then He descends and says, 'Is there anyone who seeks, so that I may give to them? Is there anyone who repents, so that I may accept their repentance? Is there anyone who seeks forgiveness, so that I may forgive them? Is there anyone who sins, so that I may pardon them?' A man asked, 'Will this remain until dawn?' He replied, 'Yes.'"

أَشْهَدُ عَلَى أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ وَأَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ أَنَّهُمَا شَهِدَا عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ إِنَّ اللهَ ﷻ يُمْهِلُ حَتَّى يَذْهَبَ ثُلُثُ اللَّيْلِ ثُمَّ يَنْزِلُ فَيَقُولُ هَلْ مِنْ سَائِلٍ؟ هَلْ مِنْ تَائِبٍ؟ هَلْ مِنْ مُسْتَغْفِرٍ؟ هَلْ مِنْ مُذْنِبٍ؟ قَالَ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَجُلٌ حَتَّى يَطْلُعَ الْفَجْرُ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ

[AI] I bear witness that Abu Sa'id and Abu Hurayrah testified that they heard the Prophet ﷺ saying: "Indeed, Allah gives respite until when two-thirds of the night have passed, He descends and says, 'Is there anyone who asks so that he may be given? Is there anyone who seeks forgiveness so that he may be forgiven? Is there anyone who supplicates so that his supplication may be answered?

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Verily, Allah delays until the first third of the night passes, then our Lord, blessed and exalted, descends to the lowest heaven and says, 'Is there anyone seeking forgiveness, so that I may forgive them? Is there any repentant, so that I may accept their repentance? Is there any seeker, so that I may grant them? Is there any supplicant, so that I may answer their supplication?' This continues until dawn breaks."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُمْهِلُ حَتَّى إِذَا ذَهَبَ ثُلُثُ اللَّيْلِ الْأَوَّلُ نَزَلَ رَبُّنَا تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى إِلَى السَّمَاءِ الدُّنْيَا فَيَقُولُ جَلَّ وَعَلَا هَلْ مِنْ مُسْتَغْفِرٍ؟ هَلْ مِنْ تَائِبٍ؟ هَلْ مِنْ سَائِلٍ؟ هَلْ مِنْ دَاعٍ؟ حَتَّى يَنْفَجِرَ الصُّبْحُ»

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ وَلَأَخَّرْتُ الْعِشَاءَ الْآخِرَةَ إِلَى ثُلُثِ اللَّيْلِ فَإِنَّهُ إِذَا مَضَى ثُلُثُ اللَّيْلِ الْأَوَّلُ هَبَطَ اللَّهُ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى إِلَى سَمَاءِ الدُّنْيَا فَلَمْ يَزَلْ هُنَالِكَ حَتَّى يَطْلُعَ الْفَجْرُ يَقُولُ أَلَا سَائِلٌ فَيُعْطَى أَلَا دَاعٍ يُجَابُ أَلَا مُسْتَشْفِعٍ فَيُشَفَّعُ أَلَا تَائِبٌ مُسْتَغْفِرٌ فَيُغْفَرَ لَهُ وَاللَّفْظُ لَفْظُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ بَزِيعٍ وَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ قَدْ رُوِيَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ مِنْ وُجُوهٍ لَا نَعْلَمُهُ يُرْوَى عَنْ عَلِيٍّ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ إِلَّا مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ

قال أشهد على أبي سَعِيد وأبي هُرَيرة أنهما شهدا عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ؛ أَنَّه قال إن الله تبارك وتعالى يمهل حتى إذا ذهب أو بقى ثلث الليل هبط فقال هل من داع يستجاب له أَحسَبُهُ قال هل من سائل يعطى من مستغفر من ذنب

قَالَ قَالَ رَسُول اللهِ ﷺ لولا أن أشق على أمتي لأمرتهم بالسواك عند كل صلاة ولأخرت صلاة العشاء إلى ثلث الليل الأول أو إلى النصف الشك من عُبَيد الله فإن الله تبارك وتعالى إذا ذهب ثلث الليل الأول أو نصفه ينزل إلى السماء الدنيا فينادي هل من داع فأجيب هل من مستغفر فأغفر له أو سائل فأعطيه حتى يطلع الفجر

[AI] "They both testified to it before the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and I bear witness that they said, 'Verily, Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, grants respite until the first third of the night passes. Then, He descends to the lowest heaven and says, 'Is there anyone seeking forgiveness? Is there anyone begging for sustenance? Is there anyone repenting? Is there anyone in need?' Until dawn emerges."

أَنَّهُمَا شَهِدَا بِهِ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَأَنَا أَشْهَدُ عَلَيْهِمَا أَنَّهُ قَالَ إِنَّ اللهَ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى يُمْهِلُ حَتَّى يَذْهَبَ ثُلُثُ اللَّيْلِ الْأَوَّلُ ثُمَّ يَهْبِطُ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ الدُّنْيَا فَيَقُولُ هَلْ مِنْ مُسْتَغْفِرٍ هَلْ مِنْ سَائِلٍ هَلْ مِنْ تَائِبٍ هَلْ مِنْ دَاعٍ حَتَّى يَطْلُعَ الْفَجْرُ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, Allah grants respite until the first third of the night passes, then He commands a caller to call out, 'Is there anyone who is invoking (supplicating) that his invocation may be answered? Is there anyone seeking forgiveness (repenting) that he may be forgiven? Is there anyone asking for something so that he may be given?'".

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إنَّ اللهَ ﷻ يُمْهِلُ حَتَّى يَمْضِي شَطْرُ اللَّيْلِ الْأَوَّلُ ثُمَّ يَأْمُرُ مُنَادِيًا يُنَادِي يَقُولُ هَلْ مِنْ دَاعٍ يُسْتَجَابُ لَهُ هَلْ مِنْ مُسْتَغْفِرٍ يُغْفَرُ لَهُ هَلْ مِنْ سَائِلٍ يُعْطَى

"إذَا مضى شطرُ الليلِ أو ثلثاهُ ينْزِلُ الله إلى السَّماءِ الدُّنيا، فيقولُ: هلْ مِنْ سائلٍ فيُعطَى؟ هل مِنْ داعٍ فيُستجابَ لَهُ؟ هَلْ مِنْ مُستغِفرٍ فيُغَفرَ له؟ حتَّى يتفجرَ الصُّبْحُ".

"لَوْلا أن أشُقَّ عَلَى أمّتِى لأمَرْتُهُم بالسِّواك عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلاة، وَلأخَّرتُ عِشَاءَ الآَخِرَةِ إلَى ثُلُثِ اللَّيل الأوَّل، فَإِنَّهُ إذَا مَضَى ثُلُثُ اللَيلِ الأولُ، هَبَطَ الله تَعَالى إلى سَماء الدُّنْيَا، فَلَمْ يَزَل هُنَالِكَ حَتَّى يطلُعَ الفَجْرُ، فَيَقُولُ قَائِلٌ: ألا سَائِلٌ يُعْطَى، ألا دَاعٍ يُجَابُ، ألا سَقِيمٌ يَسْتَشْفي فَيُشْفَى، ألا مُذْنِبٌ يَسْتَغْفِرُ فَيُغْفَرَ لَهُ".

"لَوْلا أن أَشُقَّ عَلَى أمَّتِي لأخَّرْتُ صَلاةَ العِشَاءِ إلى ثُلُثِ اللَّيلِ أوْ شَطرِ اللَّيل؛ فَإِنَّهُ إِذَا مَضَى شَطرُ اللَّيلِ يَنْزِلُ الله تعَالى إلَى السَّماءِ الدُّنْيَا فَيَقُولُ: هَلْ مِنْ مُسْتَغْفِرٍ فأغفِرَ لَهُ، هَلْ مِنْ تَائِبٍ فأتُوبَ عَلَيهِ، هَلْ مِن دَاعٍ فأسْتَجِيبَ لَهُ حَتَّى يَطلُعَ الفَجْرُ".

"لَوْلا أَنْ أشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لأمَرْتُهْم بِالسِّوَاكِ مَع كُلِّ وَضُوءٍ، وَلأخَّرْتُ العِشَاءَ إلَى ثُلُثِ اللَّيل أَوْ إِلى شَطرِ اللَّيلِ، فَإِنَّ رَبَّنَا ينْزِلُ إِلَى السمَاءِ فَيَقُولُ: منْ يَسْألُنِى فَأُعْطِيَه؟ مَنْ يَسْتَغْفِرُنى فَأَغْفِرَ لَهُ، مَنْ يَدْعُونِى؟ فَأَسْتَجِيبَ لَهُ".

"يَنْزِلُ اللَّه كُل ليْلَةٍ إلى سَمَاءِ الدُّنْيَا فيقُولُ: هلْ مِن سَائلٍ فَأُعطِيَهُ؟ هلْ من مستغفرٍ فأغفرَ لهُ؟ هل مِن تَائِبٍ فَأتُوبَ عَليهِ؟ حَتَّى يطلُعَ الفجْرُ".

"عن على قال: سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول: لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ على أُمَّتِى لأَمَرتُهم بِالسواكِ عندَ كُلِّ صلاة، وَلأَخرتُ العِشاءَ إِلى ثلثِ الليلِ الأول، فإنه إذا مضَى ثُلثُ اللَّيْل الأَوَّلُ هَبَطَ الله إلى سَمَاءِ الدُّنيا، فلم يزلْ هُناكَ حتى يَطْلُعَ الفجرُ، فيقول الله: ألَا سَائِلٌ يُعطَى سُؤْلَهُ؟ أَلَا داعٍ يُجَابُ؟ أَلَا سَقِيمٌ يَسْتَشْفِى فَيُشْفَى؟ أَلَا مُذْنِبٌ يَسْتَغْفِرُ فَيُغْفَرَ لَهُ؟ ".
