A man came to the Prophet ﷺ to pledge allegiance to him for emigration, and he had left his parents weeping. He said: "Go back to them and make them laugh as you made them weep."

جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ يُبَايِعُهُ عَلَى الْهِجْرَةِ، وَتَرَكَ أَبَوَيْهِ يَبْكِيَانِ، فَقَالَ: «ارْجِعْ إِلَيْهِمَا وَأَضْحِكْهُمَا كَمَا أَبْكَيْتَهُمَا»

'Abdullah ibn 'Amr said, "A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, 'I have come to make you a pledge that will do hijra although I have left my parents in tears." The Prophet said, 'Go back to them and make them laugh as you made them cry.'"

جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ: جِئْتُ أُبَايِعُكَ عَلَى الْهِجْرَةِ وَتَرَكْتُ أَبَوَيَّ يَبْكِيَانِ۔ قَالَ: «ارْجِعْ إِلَيْهِمَا فَأَضْحِكْهُمَا كَمَا أَبْكَيْتَهُمَا۔»

A man came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: I came to you to take the oath of allegiance to you on emigration, and I left my parents weeping. He (the Prophet) said: Return to them and make them laugh as you made them weep.

جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ جِئْتُ أُبَايِعُكَ عَلَى الْهِجْرَةِ وَتَرَكْتُ أَبَوَىَّ يَبْكِيَانِ فَقَالَ ارْجِعْ عَلَيْهِمَا فَأَضْحِكْهُمَا كَمَا أَبْكَيْتَهُمَا

"I have come pledging to emigrate (Hijrah), and I have left my parents weeping." He said: "Go back to them, and make them smile as you made them weep."

أَنَّ رَجُلاً أَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ إِنِّي جِئْتُ أُبَايِعُكَ عَلَى الْهِجْرَةِ وَلَقَدْ تَرَكْتُ أَبَوَىَّ يَبْكِيَانِ قَالَ ارْجِعْ إِلَيْهِمَا فَأَضْحِكْهُمَا كَمَا أَبْكَيْتَهُمَا

“A man came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, I have come seeking to go out in Jihad with you, seeking thereby the Face of Allah and the Hereafter. I have come even though my parents are weeping.’ He said: ‘Go back to them and make them smile as you have made them weep.’”

أَتَى رَجُلٌ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي جِئْتُ أُرِيدُ الْجِهَادَ مَعَكَ أَبْتَغِي وَجْهَ اللَّهِ وَالدَّارَ الآخِرَةَ وَلَقَدْ أَتَيْتُ وَإِنَّ وَالِدَىَّ لَيَبْكِيَانِ قَالَ فَارْجِعْ إِلَيْهِمَا فَأَضْحِكْهُمَا كَمَا أَبْكَيْتَهُمَا

جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ إِنِّي جِئْتُ لِأُبَايِعَكَ عَلَى الْهِجْرَةِ وَتَرَكْتُ أَبَوَيَّ يَبْكِيَانِ؟ قَالَ فَارْجِعْ إِلَيْهِمَا فَأَضْحِكْهُمَا كَمَا أَبْكَيْتَهُمَا

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ was visited by a man who wanted to pledge allegiance to him for the purpose of migration. The man was rude to him, so the Prophet ﷺ said to him, "I did not come to you so that I would make both of his parents cry, meaning the man's parents. He (the Prophet) said, "Go back and make them (the man's parents) laugh as you made them cry."

أَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ رَجُلٌ يُبَايِعُهُ عَلَى الْهِجْرَةِ وَغَلَّظَ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَ مَا جِئْتُكَ حَتَّى أَبْكَيْتُهُمَا يَعْنِي وَالِدَيْهِ قَالَ ارْجِعْ فَأَضْحِكْهُمَا كَمَا أَبْكَيْتَهُمَا
