[Machine] Al-Hasan and Farqad met at a banquet with a man who was voracious. The people held their hands and allowed the man to eat. Farqad said to him, "O such and such, condition after condition and no action!" Al-Hasan became angry and approached him, saying, "What is wrong with you? Did Allah do something to you? It has reached me that you say, 'I wish the ashes were our food, Allah made it your food.'"

Indeed, those who hold fast to the teachings of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ – and those who followed them – used to dislike taking ownership of wealth and worldly possessions in order to rely on them. Their appearances would become harsh, and whatever provisions Allah gave them, they would take only what they needed and give the excess as charity, preferring that for the day they would be in need and lacking, as well as for their future needs in their religious and worldly affairs, between themselves and Allah."
